Thank you so much for watching ❤️ I hope everyone has a great week! 😊
The staples replaced the horse shoes. That fire extinguisher looks like an old gravity version. The pipe with the foot piece is from old staging. Staging for working on houses. The weird chain looking things or sections could be off an old saw for cutting logs. Back when they used those enormous cutting blades. Lots of logging stuff even that big roller could have come off something in a saw mill. Hope that helps! Dave
Love your videos pls make some more fun videos
@@MrCaissed😂😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤❤😂❤❤❤😂❤😂❤😂❤❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤
I love it! 3 videos in a row!! Definitely some crazy finds. Can't wait for the next video! Keep up the great work!
Those enormous horseshoes are probably off of the huge draft horses that would have been pulling the log wagons around. Obviously a lot of logging activity in that area. Love your videos - very relaxing to watch!
Where’s Owen he’s such a little champ. He hangs right in there. He so cute with his magnet.
I've seen square link chain like you're finding on manure spreaders to move the manure toward the back of the spreader. They also used something like that in the power barn cleaners that would clear the manure gutters out of the barn. Either way these chains would fit over a large sprocket that would pull them along in a big loop.
I think they are called roller chains,
They also used them in corn cribs, they were attached to small hoppers to move the full ears of corn right after picking to move the ears to a ventilated bin to help in the drying process for later use in grinding to feed cattle and/or hogs. On our family farm my grandpa called them “buckle chains” because they looked like buckles.
@@BrianAchterberg928 ok
I believe that those chain links were from what is called a log convince system for pulling logs out of the river.
Fantastic finds today Tyler. That area holds alot more treasures for you to find. Have a great day my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.
More great finds for sure
12:33 That is the end of a Logging Pike. Men called Log Drivers used them to move logs around when the logs were floating down the river to the saw mill. The Log Drivers would run around on the floating log groups as they moved down the river to help keep them together and to sort them out according to log size. The logs were either pulled up river by a team of either draft horses or mules walking along the bank tied to the group of logs or floated down river tied to a boat to keep the logs in a group and away from the banks.
I wish I could attach a picture to this comment to show you what I mean. Just Google vintage river logging and you can see pics of it. 🙂
I love watching your shows even turned others onto you keep up the good work!
Hope you will also keep us updated on your new homestead ??? Awesome 🧲 🎣 finds !!!! 💙👊
16:33 looks like the front wheel off Fred Flintstone's car :)
I just love when you find old stuff. I always wonder what's its story behind them. Definitely get you thinking. Love the video
13:15, I believe that is part of the chain link that operated the conveyor that would drag the logs out of the water at the paper mill. .
That log dog spike may be worth $80 -$90 to the correct collector
That piece you pulled up with the big pipe is an old school soldering iron
The logging industry must have clear cut a lot of trees in your neck of the woods! Maybe there’s some historical pictures you could find to post along with your videos! That would be really interesting to see! Cheers! 🎉
Lower Michigan also known for a great deal of logging. Lots of various finds, always interesting.
There are whole stretches of farmland in south Alabama and north Florida that grew pine trees for paper mills when my parents were young. The logging did so much business when I was as teen that the stupid mockingbirds would drive you crazy imitating the sounds of chain saws😂
Have a look online at Clydesdale Horses , which are still being bred but were shipped out to America when they started building the railways. They were also used to pull boats down canals from the bank. Stunning animals that make a cowboy horse look very small. Glad to see that you are carrying on and taking no notice of fake videos.
Clydesdales are one of the smaller draft horses. Other breeds are even larger
I don’t know if Shire horses were ever brought over but they are massive horses.
Those extra large horse shoes are for draft horses. They are large horses like clydesdales and were used to pull wagons with heavy loads.
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Tyler you might want to call the library & see if they know if there is a museum in the city. If so they might know the hustory of the. Logging in that area & if there is a logging museum on the area.if so that there would be able to identify the things related to logging. My Dad's grandparents moved from the Pennsylvania area to Grand Rapids, Michigan by to see if there were people in the area for them to hire a logging camp. The furnature company actually built a factory in the area & they sent some of their employees to train the new employee how to work in the different departments & how to run machines to do general labor.
Men that moved their whole families recieved bonuses. I remember being told there were different crews set to other areas off of Lake Michigan. More than likely that area your at was one too like Grand Rapids, Michigan. If they set up logging camps that could cut the trees into planks then those coild be loaded on ships to go to the parent company for them to make into furniture.
8:06 Who else tensed up when he threw that?
25:13 is a pipe for large cable wires usually found next to a telephone pole
That rusty chain you found? People used to weld them to the metal drums they were using to create flos5ing rafts for kids to play on, swim to/ fish from, and anchor them to cement blocks. In the winter, they'd drag them on shore and wait for the next season.
Maybe a sawmill was located there a long time ago. Those huge horse shoes are used on draft horses. Think Clydesdale or Belgium horses. They used them to drag logs out of the woods after they were cut. Their hooves are like small dinner plates.
3:25 looks like the head of a swage hammer. There must have been a blacksmith shop back in the day. 15:45 looks like a lamp finial.
CWA...Civil Works Adminstration. Temporary manual labor jobs created in the great depression for unemployed workers.
Your voice not bad singing. 🤣🤣 Awesome video
😂
26:02 looks like the drive chain of an old manure spreader
Hey Tyler. Awesome video today. Love all those logging finds.
@16:28 I think(not 100% sure) you may have found a damsel, the axle part of an old millstone. That would be a keeper, for sure, to restore and put on your shelf. Wonder if there was a grist mill there way back in the day and if any more parts of it are in the water, especially the stone?
The CWA was a project created under the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). The CWA created construction jobs, mainly improving or constructing buildings and bridges. It ended on March 31, 1934, after spending $200 million a month and giving jobs to four million people. 13:16 barn cleaner chain or more likely chain on a pull type manure spreader. One old manure spreader had a sell line "NO POLITICIAN SPREADS IT BETTER"
Another great day of finding on the river. You have a great personality and are well suited for your videos. Very entertaining😊
The large horseshoe you found was for a Clydesdale
Tyler I really enjoy your video's and keep them coming. And I still enjoy the sound you make when you find stuff. You crack me up with the sound you make. Have a great day.❤❤😊😊
Be careful with the fire extinguisher. Some of the older ones contain carcinogens. There should be markings on it saying what it contains
Chipping hammer chisel. Throw it back 😂
Regarding the horseshoe/ ox shoe comment, draft horse and draft mule shoes have been found to reach amazing sizes. Where as ox shoes (while also reaching stunning sizes) we’re made to fit the split (cloven)bovine hoof, not the typical “U” shape of the horseshoe, but more like mirror images of a comma (,). But yes that is an impressive sized draft horse shoe!
Your personality just makes me smile!!!
Jus think that last chain held logs. wow over 70 years ago.amazing finds.
That Horseshoe at 15:20 was most likely on a Draft Hoarse or Clydesdale type horse. Massive Animals indeed! So cool!
CWA - Civil Works Administration from the depression era to give people jobs.
Do you suppose all the chair link was used as a strap for holding logs together?
The square chain you pulled up, ive got alot of those too, someone told me they came off of an old dredger machine idk tho
You should definitely restore the fire extinguisher! And the big round thing with the bolt holes is a brake hub! I would love to see the gears that those chains ran around!😂
The big links of chain are grain elevator chain
Is there any train tracks near by. That one big flat piece that you might have thout of a pipe holder maybe a track piece. I am just thinking out loud.
the factory place could be an old saw mill and the horse shoe if from an old clidesdale the used to pull the log rafts with the stapels and links held the raft togather and the big woodedn roller ma have held a small watter wheel to run the saw
I looked it up fisher. Its a log dog what they used to tie logs together to make a raft. Pretty cool
I know this varies but about how many fishing trips does it take to fill the truck? 🐎✌️
Usually 5 or so!
At 15:48 that might be a fancy reins guide?
Thanks for sharing your videos stay safe out there
Definitely some old logging stuff. The hook with the point I think is called a dog or something and they hammer it into a light to attach rope to tow in the water to keep the logs attached to the boat. Cool fi ds, as always
Dude, I don't know how that little flimsy cart puts up with the amount of weight you throw in it.
Take a look at "Belgium" horses (for example) sometime. They are huge. In the day they would have been draft horses for heavy work, such as logging. Now that you have an old farm, perhaps there is a farm close by that you your son could go see some Belgium horses (?).
@ 8:38 I believe that is half of a torque converter out of an old transmission...
That large "roller pin" thing is cool. Might be woth checking into that? Could be a tail roller for a large conveyor system, hence the "drag chain" you keep pulling up.
Always awesome, Tyler!!!!!!! I love your repartee, makes me smile every time😊"I gotter sea otter"... Thank you, Tyler💖
At 14:10 - That staple was part of the loggng chain. They would use those staples in the logs and the chain to hold them together.
That factory chunk looked like the letter A outlined in chain
I am glad you like to go magnet fishing, because I like to watch magnet fishing!
😂😂😂 the 😮😮😮fish jumps 🦈 right in the centre of the ring. That was really cool. To bad you couldn’t make a picture out of it. I sure hope everyone had seen that moment. The fish jumped up like wow 🦈 pretty cool.
Tyler the circular saw that you found do you have three more or two more different sizes, refurbish them spray, paint them different colour and take one colour that you didn’t use and spread touch on different spot on everyone and hang them up in your office.. wouldn’t that look cool? What do you think?😊😉🙂😍👍🏼👍🏼
You can’t be out snagging fish I do agree with you.. how about those little forking the frogs do you agree with that? I sure don’t I think that’s terrible for the fish and the frogs and trapping animals😢 Good luck in magnet fishing💛🍀🍀🍀🍀👍🏼
I think you are in front of the old saw mill that the staples were used to hold the logs in a chain loop and contain more logs floated to the mill. The square chain and wood roller were used to pull the logs out of the river into the mill. other logging tools were lost in the process.
Hello there looks like you have found a pretty good spot that little ornament that you found well you could screw it on top of your lamp ornament that’s what it is for antique lamps. Okey-dokey it’s not a guess it’s a fact.😊😊🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🌸🌸🌸
Check and see if old building was a saw mill
Looks like the crazy house you better stay away 😂. 🐎✌️You know I’m just yanking your chain.
The large wooden roller was used in sawmills lumber mills for rolling wood. Possibly also used for rolling caste iron.
Starvin' Marvin, sittin' in a boat. Pulled out so much trash it was hard to stay afloat. Cashed out all the trash and went to join the bash! Have fun fisher!! (˘・_・˘)
Detachable Drive Chain for chain driven equipment. mostly farm but could be something logging related given what you are finding. google antique chain driven farm equipment and see how it's used.
what do you do with it all ?
save some for weird ebay sales or just giant bin of scrap
Both!
Could that be the square link tracks to a conveyor belt link that could move items to different work stations in a factory. Like an assembling line. Different stations or different departments might of need different sized conveyor belts.
Good grief. What a trip through history! It would be cool if you found items from a couple different era's.
Those flat chains are conveyor chains, they would be used to bring the logs out of the water on ramps and on feeders to different lumber processing machines.
I think ithe fire extinguisher is older. Like the one Doc uses on Back to the Future. It’s filled with water and the hose is at the bottom so the water comes out by gravity. If it is you might be able to clean it up some, but it’s also possible you wipe it down once and the rust gives and it folds in on itself.
Great video as always.
My Dad called those ring things with a spike, dogs, he'd drive them into a floating log to pull it with his boat or pull it off the beach.
You should start saving all that old logging equipment like axes that wood roller thing you found those big staples All you log dogs you find and the horse shoes you find and those big shoes you find are off the draft horse that were used for logging they are huge horse that are still around a lot of Amish farms still use the Clydesdale horse and the big Belgium horse. There hoofs are huge. You have the old sheds at your farm you could make it into a logging museum with the things you find.
Great finds today
Lol ya should recognize that piece at 8:45 you technically have two of them. That is a wheel drum off a camper or boat trailer.
At 8:38 that find you have just found is a brake drum
6:17 - very old drain pipe. The fluted end was to connect additional drain pipe.
The chain links are still used today on farm equipment
Interesting how some pieces are pretty solid and probably worth a lot of refined metal. But other pieces seem so eaten up with rust and gunk that the return in metal is probably pretty small. I would love to see a video on the metal refining process that shows metal in, metal out. Is that even possible? Just curious as to how much the junk yard is actually getting out of all this.
That was called a log dog, you put it in a stump of a tree and it helps you pull logs out of the forest, what I'm talking about is the little iron piece that you found that looks like a key
At 11:45; that chain links looks like they would go with a geared cog turning a shaft.
The thing that looked like a fire extinguisher looks a lot like a hydraulic ram cylinder.
CWA think this was a work project from the Depression era!
I like watching your videos and they are really fun❤
Verifine lid is from the Verifine Dairy in Sheboygan
Hi Tyler. Incredible finds as always. I love all your videos. 🤙
When u plowed or logged with horses the bigger the better. Means big hooves.
I liked my own comment
The heavy thing you called a pipe holder most likely held one of the ends of the wooden roller
You should clean it and mount it somewhere on the boat for good luck
those square chains look like the sides of conveyer belts
You should go and party😂 great singing voice❤
@13:30, it's the links for an old convayer belt.
Hi that large horse shoe is probably of a shire horse they are very big.great video as usual 😊
I’d buy flex tape from this guy. 😆
25:28 THATS A LARGE boil pipe lol needs a screen
That chain could have held a log "raft" together with the staple.
