I feel this is deeper than a song about a lover, more like it's father God singing back to me, cause I was asking The Father if he forgives me today, then this song came up on UA-cam....I will always carry my torch for my friend Jesus,...

I wish I could get in contact with Bill Anderson my Dad actually wrote this song about his first wife and sold it to Bill Anderson for 500 hundred. He passed away at the age 91 one month after his birthday 😭 I miss him so much I sang this song to him while he was taking his last breath 😭 R.I.P Dad (Mike Smith) I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU TERRIBLY ♥️
I just heard a newer version of this song and cannot find it on the internet if anyone could help? All the versions are 60s but the version I heard was a bog ballad and from the 80s or 90s.
A wise man once said, "when your happy you enjoy the melody but when you're broken you understand the lyrics ".

My Grandma wrote the words for that song.
Very talented Granny! 😲
