My Dad was on a couple PT's, something like Ron 283. He's gone now or I'd ask. One boat was named "Hero's Haunt."
    Miss him immeasurably.

My father was a Motor Machinist Mate on PT 160. In this video it was named Tokyo Ahead, but was later renamed Lazy Daisy Mae. He served on the boat into 1945 and was part of the team that burned the boats on the beach in Samar Philippines after the end of WWII.

From 4:38 to 5:59 on this video is video taken aboard the PT-157 under the command of LT (Jg) William F ‘Bud’ Liebenow. In the dingy you can see the RON-9 Commander Kelley with the Tommy gun on his lap. They are taking off from the deck of the 157 to row over to the 153 and 158 which ran aground a few nights before. Kelly’s mission is to destroy radio equipment and retrieve log books, code books and any other sensitive material as the island/s in the background are held by the Japanese.
They were under fire (not very visible in the grainy film) and Skipper Liebenow recalled that Kelly shouted back for Liebenow to turn the 157 so as to point it at the enemy fire to avoid be hit.
On board the 157 is a Navy/Marine camera crew, who took these videos and other photos, and writer who begged to go out on this mission as it was a very rare opportunity to be on a PT mission daylight as PTs almost never went on daylight missions as they would be obvious targets for enemy shore fire and planes. The gun crewmen of the 157 would be looking skyward in case enemy planes showed up as this area was the front line and control of the skies were hotly contested and ever changing.
It would be the PT 157 that a
month later would be sent out to navigate shallow and uncharted waters near Blackett Straight to find and rescue the crew of the (rammed and sunk) PT 109 commanded by Lt (Jg) John F. Kennedy…who later became President of the United States.
This information of the PT 157 in the front line action in the summer of 1943 can be found in the book ‘FIRST UP: Chronicles of the PT 157’ by author Bridgeman Carney available on Amazon.

My dad was on PT 373, skipper as of July, '45. He never said anything about it, although he did mention the "torpedo juice."

Anyone know the paint color schemes for these boats? I plan on building the more recent Revell PT 160 which served in this squadron, but not crazy about the box art version...

    Stupid music aka swing !!
More voice over of where, who, when and WHY they are there.
Otherwise a waste of time to watch.
