    Hi, Paul. Great video.
I still use my Vango Banshee 200 and would highly recommend it. It's a very easy to use and reliable tent. I bought mine second hand about 6 years ago and it is still going strong and never let me down.

Vango Banshee 300, no contest. Had 2 now, first lasted over 100 camping trips in everything from 35+ to biblical storms or snow and was only retired due to it getting untrustworthy with the groundsheet getting a bit thin. 5 minutes up or down, easy to pack. Can still be had for £175, would buy another if this one goes

I have the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2. I have taken it out in rain and it worked great. I haven't used it in heavy winds but then again I wouldn't go out in heavy winds. I am almost 60 and it was light enough for me. Thanks Paul. Great video.

I ended up buying a Wild Country Helm Compact 2 after your review of the 1 person version. Absolutely love it! Maybe a touch overkill in summer, but as my only tent it's been superb. I picked that up for less than £200.

Good advice as usual. However, the weather can be unpredictable. I took my Vango Soul 200(c £50-60 in sales) into the Cairngorms last Monday. Forecast was fair with light winds but the Lairig Ghru funnelled those winds so that they were hitting me at about 40mph and the fibreglass rear pole broke (I'd already replaced the front one with alloy). The tent stayed up but thrashed around a lot. I took the Vango coz it has a bulletproof groundsheet and I knew the ground would likely be wet and/or stony... Still, a broken tent (at that price) means a new tent! 🙂 Looking at splashing out on the Durston Xmid2, a bit over the £200 budget though!

I've got a Zephyros Compact 1 which you can get for under £180 at Cotswold Outdoor at the moment - it doesn't have the details of some other tents (pockets for specs, etc. inside) but has been pretty solid on several cycle tours. Good sized vestibule for size of tent. I've also got an Alpit Jaran 2, which is also in the Alpkit sale at £199, and feels luxurious with 4 pockets, two doors, two vestibules, but is definitely a 3 season tent as there's lots of mesh. It does cope with wind and rain, tested in Cheshire and Anglesey last year!

Thanks Paul - another great video. I can recommend the Luxe Hexpeak V4a - a little more expensive at around £250, but sheds wind and snow like nobodies business. For a "one tent to rule them all" for almost all year round, can't recommend enough. Takes a little more time to set up with a trekking pole, but once up, its not going anywhere.

Very informative video. To be honest, some of the best tents I've seen are those cheap, Chinese made igloos. Yeah, they'll go pringle-shaped in strong winds, but they won't break. And they're pretty roomy. 6 of us slept in one once. Only problem is that they're not at all light, at about 4-5kg.

A lot of pretty good gear for people who aren't hardcore or only use them occasionally. Get something within budget. Use it and get out there. Don't believe mush you read in Amazon reviews. Ask around. Do a campout with friends but get out there. You'll figure it out so as to what you need or really want to do. Have fun. Yes, watch the weather as we all do or should do. Good vid Paul.

Isn't the X-Mid under £200? I'd have said the 1p is more storm-worthy and wind-worthy that most you mentioned and on the much lighter end of the scale.
Not sure I agree that trekking pole tents are a waste of time (I know you were speaking just generally; I'm not offended and responding as such). ALL tents, when you think on it, were pole tents for most of history; it's only recently that we started using trekking poles (and to be fair, I was a late convert who went kickin' and screamin' into accepting them... now I'm a convert for most conditions). To that end, while I know it's an extra cost, you could just get the pole options, like the Z-Flick poles from Durston, or the Six Moon Designs pole offerings (in aluminum or carbon) and you still have a very light tent and don't have to deal with trekking poles. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention those options.
