Mike & Lil on tour at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. Some great old movies and TV shows were made there since the turn of the last century.
The tour guide means that the sets on the Paramount Soundstages for THE BRADY BUNCH no longer exist. The real house that is shown in the opening credits of the show still exists and was recently purchased by a fan! 😉
This video was so well put together! Thank you for including the footage of the movies/shows they're referencing. One criticism though, the audio was a little over the place making it hard to hear the tour guide at times.
Alfred Hitchcock as you just mentioned, Paramount did make their first connections with Hitchcock in 1939 with the American distribution rights for his British film JAMAICA INN (1939) with Charles Laughton. But 15 years later Alfred Hitchcock started working for Paramount Pictures in 1954 with the release of REAR WINDOW (1954), his next films were THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (1955), TO CATCH A THEFT (1955), THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1956) and VERTIGO (1958). However before the year 1959, Hitchcock was planning to make his next movie for Paramount which was NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) but the executives from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios wanted to buy the film rights from Hitchcock and have him make the movie for MGM. So Paramount lost the film rights to NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) and Hitchcock later asked Paramount to help him produce PSYCHO (1960) but the Paramount executives refused to make the film and Paramount only distributed PSYCHO (1960) in US theaters. PSYCHO (1960) was Hitchcock's last Paramount movie while he was working at Universal Studios and that was where is career was ending before his death in 1980. In 1968, Hitchcock bought five of his movies from Paramount and his 1950s classic films would never be re-released in theaters until 1983. Today Paramount only has TO CATCH A THEFT (1955) in Paramount ownership.
My first Paramount movie was THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) when I was 4 years old watching the film on video cassette. I found out that THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) was originally an Orion Picture filmed on a Hollywood studio where the original 60s tv show THE ADDAMS FAMILY was filmed. The reason why Paramount bought the movie THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) was because this movie was going through very hard times with production problems and the cast were stressed out, after Paramount bought THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) the studio completed 20% of the film and released the film on November 1991 in US theaters while MGM was handling the international release across the globe. THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) what a great movie, but I wish the movie was filmed on the Paramount studio lot.
Long but worthwhile. I enjoyed it
Very well put together!!! Thank you was very informative and pleasant to watch :)
I'm going for an auction to paramount tomorrow so excited 😁

The tour was extremely interesting - When back in California I'm going to have to check out the WB tour
