Cool video. One of my coworkers at Illinois Central School Bus informed me the electronic parking brakes on the Internationals malfunctioned and were nothing but trouble for mechanics, so they did away with them altogether. We got a handful of 2018 CE units this year, and they are absolute garbage. They sent out all but one of our 1st generation Blue Bird Visions to make room for the things. Hate International; they're junk, no offence.
I found it nice that this bus has three wheelchair spots. Our Arizona-speced buses have three wheelchair spots. In the Scottsdale Unified School District #48, we use type-C buses for wheelchair buses since 2002. I mostly rode on a type-D rear engine bus until summer 2010. I graduated from the district in 2014.
Interesting specs for sure. We have sort of an "inverted accessories" style spec on our CEs. All the air brake buses had electric doors/stop arms and didn't have air suspension or seat and our Hydro brake buses have all air accessories. Maybe I'm just not familiar with grey rims and the whole extra reflective tape and stuff but where I'm from this bus would definitely turn some heads lol.
My favorite IC CE is the old 2005 ce200 series that had no IC logo above the door and the real short brown seats. It also has a bendix parking brake, and an Allison automatic transmission 2500pts. It also had the black lines that go along side the bus below the brake lights and blinkers and above the lights in the back. It had front blinkers on the body not the hood too
The Wabco"full power " electronic brake system they used with the push button parking brake was an expensive nightmare to keep working. Every single part of it had multiple issues that were never made reliable . They just gave up and went back to the old 1990's system. But at least its a pedal brake instead of a hand brake.
The wabco system used a axle mounted drum brake with a cable going to a frame mounted hydraulic cyllinder which was powered by the wabco unit . It was a rube goldberg disaster but was great for the driver when they worked . We generally had to replace every thing on average about every 3rd year( the rust belt) to the tune of many thousands per vehicle and half the time was a tow bill as well because it would lock up the brakes when one of the pump motors seized up and the system lost pressure.
wistech Wow. Hope IC designs their CE replacement better. Or, just go back to air brakes because there are fewer issues with air brakes compared to hydraulic brakes.
@@BusMaster99 don't be. I was half awake when i wrote that and it didn't click in my head that an electronic brake is different from an air brake lmfao
The electronic parking brakes ALWAYS got stuck when I worked for the school district... usually at the absolute WORST times as well cause our district required the parking brake at every stop...we used the GMC bluebirds until they stopped allowing them to make gassers (which had the manual hand brakes)then we switched to the IC CE's.... always had issues with the parking brakes and a few defects with a no-start symptom
BusMaster99 totally!! Great videos man!! I stumbled across your page because I used to have a 3.0 X-type sport.. mine was also the same color as your XJ8, platinum...absolutley LOVED my Jag..(yours is way better though) until the transfer case started whining which I knew would cost an arm and a leg so, unforutnently had to say goodbye :( thought it was super ironic though that we look roughly the same age, both drove school buses and both had platinum Jaguar's😂😂😂. Plus, I use to work for D303.. Saint Charles!
BusMaster99 it must be mandatory in your district to have hydraulic brakes unlike mine. My bus driver told me that this year they're supposed to be getting bluebird vision buses.
Another thing I've noticed about these buses is with the turn signals in the front the circular ones not all of ic buses have those not sure if its because of the schools or not I'm unsure though
My district has been getting IC CEs for the past 5 years now, and because of the braking change, they switched to Blue Bird Visions for this year. We have always had air brakes and our district wants to continue that trend.
Hydraulic brakes? Isn't that a bit outdated in the world of air brakes? They still have the yellow parking break, but you got hydraulic brakes, not air brakes.
Well one of the school dist i went to well they just got brand new 2021 Blue Bird buses. You the shocking part is. That they are going with propane buses as they new school buses. Yep looks like Propane buses are starting to take over. I have mix feeling about it because i love the sound of the diesel buses. Like the 2005 IC Ce that i rode in for 3 years. That will always be my baby bus i even named her Bessie. And i was just told that they don't know how much longer then Bessie would be around for.
I love your videos mr Bus master 99 I noticed that you like the video tape newer cars and I like the video tape older cars. I like to take videos of older buses and older cars And bus master 99 Likes to take videos of newer cars and new buses
IDK it just does. I am in New Mexico and not Illinois. I will be uploading Bus Ride Videos soon on My Channel known as Bitzer Dog. You will see My. 2019 CE with electronic Parking brake there. Although I'm not sure if it has a Cummins ISB or a B6.7, but I think a B6.7. I will have to ask My Driver.
Yea I feel that way to, For scholastic Co. I got one of the news buses has 4,500 Plus miles on it and it has no AIRBRAKES. Internaltion I am shocked that they now use electronic parking brake, It make me upset that they are now ditching Air brakes, I have A good feeling they removed it for money as airbrakes are harder to install and cost way more money. Come On Ic you know better...
I did a pre trip inspection on my 2005 Ford John Deere T444E lovely engine btw but it sounds amazing i am only in 5th grade and i love diesel engines for some reason why
true the main reason most people tow buses from the rear so that they don't have to pull the driveshaft or axle shafts the only time that they would tow from the front is if it broke down on a freeway or a divided highway or the front tires are flat or blown or if the front axles are broken mini buses non cdl can fit on rollbacks
Marcos Antonio Roman Almanza Not sure I can be of much help. I just film buses. I have no affiliation with the bus barn whatsoever. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ryan Raimondo Don't the CEs still have an air brake option? I just checked icbus.com and it still says air brakes are optional.
I was told that our dealer didn’t offer air brakes...crazy, right?
Ryan Raimondo They clearly do not know what they are talking about.
Nice DOT how we use to do it till they got the Zonar crap

Okay, fire away.
So I know that school bus 2 way radios are synched to a certain band? Right? Is thanks band still on a channel that can be changed or no?
@@alvinmccranie6978 Not sure.
Our district uses 2012-2016 IC RE's 2005's as spares and we only use the electronic parking brake

This video was 3 years ago, but I feel that foot parking brake is a step back. The electronic yellow parking brake should come back.
Yeah. Not really sure why they did away with the SAHR system.
