Great review James! As you know, I use a 294MM Pro, but I still own my 1600MM Pro and probably won't sell it. I like that I have a backup in case anything happens to my main camera and it's completely plug 'n play compatible with my imaging train.
Thanks for commenting Joe! I have no plans to sell mine.. especially at the prices they are going for. Its worth more as a functional camera.
Great review with examples James. I feel like anything wants to make the jump to mono should watch this video to get an idea of the sensor quality. And appreciate the shout out! Hopefully you had fun with that Sadr data
Thanks Isaac! I'm still planning on doing a quick processing video with your data.. stay tuned ;)
@@DSOImager looking forward to it man!!
Excellent comparisons! Thank you for putting it together. I have been very happy with the 1600mm and RASA8.
Thanks for the comments Nick! You're getting great results from your 1600/rasa rig :)
Great Review James!! I like The Comparision over the Latest Cameras, And The Images Are Really Great! The ASI 294mm are on my List for Future Purchase. Probably the 2600mm too!?.
Thanks DSH! The 294mm and 2600mm are great cameras... so many good options out there now :)
Nice comparison James, I was lucky to drop into the hobby where I decided on the 2600mc but like you say for value I've seen a lot of people selling there mono 1600 with the filters/wheel as a complete set. Great value for an affordable package.
Cheers
Ollie
Thanks Ollie! You did good by picking up that 2600mc :)
Great review James. I love my 2600mmPro but it did cause a bit of pain in the wallet. I still have my 1600mm and plan to use it with the Redcat and the Meade SCT as it is still an excellent camera despite it's age as you say and is an great option for anyone starting into mono imaging, especially if the budget is more restricted. As for the 6200mm, one can only dream :) sigh.
Yes.. one can dream... lol.
Awesome comparison vid. Kind of heart breaking there isn't a micro 4/3rds version using the latest sensor tech of the 2600.
I agree! I'm a little surprised honestly.. maybe something new will come along in a year or two.
Beautiful work
I'd like to know what scope did you use besides the camera?
Thanks!
The M51 and M42 shots were with the Celestron EdgeHD 8, with the ,7 reducer.
The Horsehead, Markarians Chain and North America shots were with a Stellarvue SV70T and its .8 reducer.

Wow that Stellar view does great Job
I just Got doublet Zenithstar 81
I wish I know if Stellarvue SV70T is any closer to My Zenith star!!!
Thanks so much for the information .
hello could you make a video about how to remove the star halo?my O3 fliter also have large halo
Sure.. I can put one together.
Love the comparision James, Although I do prefer Honeycrisp over Gala or Granny smith.
I'm with you on that.. Honeycrisp are awesome.. I think I give the edge to fuji though. My wife will only eat granny smith, lol.
Fantastic review. It’s the important stuff minus the readily available and known. Thank you.
You're welcome Garnett. Thanks for dropping a comment :)
@@DSOImager pleasure is all mine. That’s a fantastic analysis you made. Enjoyed the whole video.
The 1600 is still a great camera. Don’t see many pop up used for sale which says a lot
Agreed!
The 1600 is a workhorse. Sure, it uses older sensor tech (the Panny 4/3), but it can still make some excellent images. The only real drawback of it, and you showed it, is the behavior on very bright stars.
Also, to be fair, you compared a drizzle integration from the 1600 against a non-drizzled integration from the 6200. Drizzling trades resolution for noise. Granted, the sensor in the 6200 (and the IMX571 in the 2600) are MUCH better than that Panny in the 1600... and the data they produce is just absurdly good.
It truly is a workhorse. Good point on the drizzle. Eventually I'll pick up a new camera. The 6200 looks real tempting but I currently don't have a scope that would accommodate that sensor. I'll just have to buy a new scope. Oh darn!
Older camera reviews are fine. Heck, i still use the 1034MC.
Thanks.. and you have gotten great results with that 1034mc :)
@@DSOImager Thanks very much. It really does go well together with a 5" Maksutov.
