I hate thinking this, because it seems kind of shady, but I wonder if they decided to call it, "Black Beauty," because it was old enough that they didn't have to pay royalties, but popular enough that people will want to watch it because of that. I was thinking this looks like it was mostly basked of off, "My Friend Flicka," a little off of, "The Black Stallion," and actually a little off of many horse stories, but I don't see any, "Black Beauty," in this at all.
@@neigh102 probably for the name recognition, its universally known. Whereas flicker, thunderhead, national velvet etc were famous in past, but nowadays, id guess only the "horsy" kids would have read them.

As someone who read the book, this movie shares NOTHING with the book, just from the trailer alone.
The book took place in Victorian times, Black Beauty was the protagonist, she wasn't an "asshole to be tamed" (that was another horse, Cinnamon), and there was a stable (pun intended) of other horse friends to round out the cast. No human was given a grand spotlight, and 95% of human interactions painted them as dicks.
The book dealt with horse-based problems, like why they hated blinders, the difficulty of running in the rain, how carriages were so goddamn useless, the few "good" owners who existed, and how Cinnamon was virtually beaten to death to make her complacent. It was practically an allegory for slavery from the perspective of a non-Human.
This movie doesn't deserve to share the same name.
Black Beauty was a gelding. I don’t think the timeframe or setting of the movie really makes a difference. But the point of it does. And the point of Black Beauty was always about highlighting the abuse and hurt humans cause horses (and other animals). The 1994 film did a perfect job at translating that from written word to film screen. Disney had no business destroying that legacy.
Also, Cinnamon was not an asshole to be tamed. She was a brilliant and spirited horse that humans tried to break. And they succeeded.

100% agreed. Black Beauty was one of my favorite books as a kid. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reread it. I was excited when I saw the still for the video but watching this trailer was a gigantic disappointment. Just like Artemis Fowl. Oh well.

This offends me because Black Beauty made me cry the first time I read it, and I weep like a baby every time I see the 90s movie version w sean bean. It really moved me deeply. So much that when I get my own house I want to put up a plaque with the ending quote from the book. I don't mind it being remade, I don't care too too much that Black Beauty has been gender swapped because wamoon power I guess, but I do care that this literally looks more like The Horse Whisperer and Second Chances mushed together and nothing like Anna's book. It's the only book she ever wrote, she died after penning it, and it's freaking beautiful. So what is this nonsense? Just give it literally any other name!

And they didnt keep him in a dang pasture, he was still a wild horse. Oh yea, Beauty was a stallion not a mare lol, they changed the whole plot of the best equine movie of all time. It honestly is a lot more like Flicka. Cause Flicka actually was ridden by a female and kept inside lol

plus if the movie does tackle animal abuse and cruelty, well the marketing team did turn it into the trailer as a "sad girl gets better" movie, that doesn't target the same people, so I understand such fear

I still remember this story during my childhood book....it's really refreshing...,love it.
Looks like it has nothing to do with the book, which is a shame...Movie could be great, I have no idea, but I can't not mention that Anna Sewell's story is one of the best I've ever read.
I haven't read the book so I can't compare but I have heard plenty of story's of people becoming extremely attached to there animals especially in the wake of a personal tragedy the story may not be new or faithful to the book but it'll be a story that rings true for some people. If they hadn't used the books name it probably would have been received better

I never watched the original Black Beauty but I'll watch this for two reasons:
1. It's about horses and I love horses.
2. Jorah Mormont is in it and I still miss him.
read the book first! It is a classic for a reason, and massively worth it. And since it's a children's book, it's an easy read.

There are so many things wrong with calling this Black Beauty. First off the original black beauty was about a TAME GELDING/STALLION. He was GENTLE and, you watched him grow from a FOAL into a HORSE. HE WAS NEVER WILD!!!!
He is NOT a mustang, he was a THOROUGHBRED, he had 2 or 3 owners before EVEN becoming a carriage horse. He was not ALONE he had Ginger and Merry legs. 😉
He befriends a young BOY named Joey not a GIRL.
This is just another remake of FLICKA! Not even the original FLICKA cause SHE was a CHESTNUT! She was raised on a breeding quarter horse farm with her mother. Where the son of the breeder tames and befriends FLICKA.
The remake of FLICKA is about a young girl and, she saves and tames a black MUSTANG.
The actress looks a LOT like ALL the other FLICKA actresses and, the story, plot and landscape looks exactly the same. It might not be but, these generic “horse girl” movies are repetitive and lacklustre.
No hate towards the actress, the other actors or anyone else involved. These inaccurate movies just annoy me, ESPECIALLY when they claim to be as good as a movie as Black Beauty.
Highly Recommend 1994 Black Beauty and, My Friend FLICKA both great movies in my opinion and, will give you a better understanding of the MANY difference between Black Beauty and Flicka.

I'm all for adaptations, although this isn't one. It's probably a film that's a lukewarm story about a girl and her horse and Disney just stuck on the Black Beauty title like a sticker as if to say; 'Hey look, a beloved classic!'

I recently lost my horse and her name was BB, short for Black Beauty. I didn’t change her name since it was the very same horse book I tried to read when I was first learning to read. She was a big part of my life; my world for 4 years. Since her passing a month ago, I feel like a part of me is gone and I will never get it back. When watching this trailer, I cried. I sense the relationship between her and the horse. It feels exactly like the relationship with BB and I.
I truly hope this is a good film when I watch it. Thanks for uploading.

I can see where they've picked bits of the novel: being sold on to a rich snob, losing the drunk owner when he falls off and breaks his neck; the stable fire; ending up as a lowly carriage horse that she somehow miraculously recognises through telepathic pleading of Kate Winslet, to be reunited and live happily ever after. Throw in some American teen angst, "nobody understands me but a very thoroughbred looking"mustang" and you've got a winner. Seriously, have you seen real life mustangs? Even the horses have been photo shopped!

To be honest, I can't say I like this. As much as I love some of the actors as well as the original novel, this just seems a bit unneeded and odd. One of the beautiful things about _Black Beauty_ is the setting and timeline as well as the whole story being from the horse's point of view. Setting it in modern day America is just plain weird - also, this seems to be almost exactly like a German movie series called _Ostwind_ - which is also with a moody teenager and a black wild untamable horse that has a time limit on the ranch before they sell it, hell, right down to the shot of her riding along the beach, bareback, with her arms spread, what is up with that?!... _Pfffft_ Sorry but this is bullsh*t and has NOTHING to do with _Black Beauty_
I don’t like it either. They will continue to re-make these classsics, however, to dance to their tune and fill their pockets. They think the movie audience is too stupid to catch on or too young to remember or actually read the book.

For anyone wanting to watch really good horse movies I recommend Spirit, Flika, and Secretariat these gave me goosebumps, made me cry, and had amazing lessons in them without the drama of a teenage girl.

Lives with uncle.... befriends horse.... falls in love with Radom guy... horse gets taken away...... has to compete in competition to win horse back...... gets horse, lives happily ever after with her new guy..... and a lot of moments of her riding bareback during sunset. Cause I watched the cartoon ages ago that now I cannot totally remember all of it but still it has left a hazy and fond memories about it!!!! Now coming to the Big Screen with a new version and excitingly "Sweet" Cast! yeah!! GOT and twilight plus titanic coming together is a pretty exciting to me!!!

I mean, Black Beauty is the narrator of the book, but 1) he's a stallion and 2) this seems to be more about the girl than the horse so the narrating makes no sense...

Black beauty is an amazing classic. But for me the best Horse movie will always be "War Horse"
