dirty thumbs up! I have a small leak around the CX7 oil filter housing area, a few drops here and there. Not sure if worth doing the job. Does anyone know any negatives if minor leaks are left as is?
@@dnasty981 G'day mate 1 of the auto shops brought it years ago but gave it away with the car I might have ro part number for it in the basic oil change video cx7
How did you get that last bolt off of the block? The fourth bolt to get the housing off? I can’t get a wrench or a socket on it. It keeps hitting the house. I can’t get access to.
@@downtheshedwithbyron gonna try again this weekend. The problem i was having was the socket was hitting the filter housing and wouldn’t allow me to get a straight on approach. Spoke with my brother who works for caterpillar as a chief mechanic and he told me to grind down one of my wrenches. The thickness of my wrenches won’t allow it to get in the bolt. Hope it works. Called the Mazda dealer and they want $1,000 to replace the whole cooler. I told them all it needed was a gasket. Crooks.
Hello, I have a 2011 Mazda CX7 with 130k miles, no issues until I noticed that I ran through 10 quarts of oil ( full synthetic) over 2500 miles. The car is running smooth, no loss of power, no overheating, no oil smell. I did notice some oil around the right side of the engine underneath the engine cover, around the large hose at both ends ( sorry don't know the name of it, intercooler turbo hose ? ) Any ideas would be great, thanks !
@@downtheshedwithbyron thx for your reply. There is some oil in the large hose that connects to the intercooler for sure. I took it off a few days ago to inspect it. Tomorrow I will remove the intercooler and inspect that for oil as well.
@@downtheshedwithbyron L311-14-311A there is a few different part numbers all the same part. eBay has them the cheapest probably. About half what the dealership would want.

I think i used a 3/8 drive single hex 10mm socket or 10mm ring spanning
Let me know how you go

My CX7 turbo coolant line has shot itself still runs and drives but loses coolant from the turbo coolant line is this an easy fix??

Great video mate.

Toss that junk. And get the updated oil filter housing to use a regular screw on filter. Is what you should have been showing.
Thats a mint idea mate
Have you got a part number or good brand you would recommend
Cheers Byron
