I remember my very first running shoe, the Pegasus 30. I can only remember how comfortable it was, and every time a friend asked my what shoe do I recommend I always say get the pegasus to all of them. Time flies, now I have more Asics than any other brand, and now the shoe that I would always recommend to anyone who asks has been the Novablast series. But I still always watch every single pegasus series reviews now even without any intention to get one, perhaps first love never really dies lol.
Found your channel for the Peg 35 review - I bought a pair on a work trip to Florida. I had a week of evenings to fill so I went to the outlet store & picked up a pair on a whim. Always going to remember that Florida humidity & finding your channel for inspiration to start my running journey at 28.
I loved my Pegasus 39 FlyEase. It was a huge evolution over the 38th version. The older model had a very uncomfortable snug fit ( expecialy in the arch) that wanted to look cool for looking aggressively fast but it was a heavy and clunky running shoe. The 39th has a wider base, more stable , more bounce and a comfortable middlesole & upper and still quite a lot more nimble and less heavy too.
Have the peg 36, pegasus trail and peg turbo 2, loved them so much. Unfortunately never bought another peg after them since i discovered asics and hoka.
Hi Seth, I live in Barcelona, Spain, so during winter, since I'm teleworking I wake up around 6am, getmy strenth session done, and then I do my workout done at lunch break. Now, since it's been getting hotter with the summer I switched to workouts early in the morning and strength sessions at lunch break... and it has been working perfect for me!!! The first pair of running specific shoes I bought was the Nike Pegasus 25 back in 2009!!! If I were to discover a natural place on earth for the first time it would have to be the Angel Falls in Venezuela, the Roraima tepuy in the Venezuela-Brazil-Guyana borther, or the Auyantepuy in Venezuela. (Look it up, its beautiful!!!)
This (Peg 39) is a decent version of Nike Pegasus. In addition to the flywire Nike brought back heel airpod. Redesigned outsole is actually nice and makes the shoe versatile as many use the shoe on buffed out trails. Shoes to buy: I would put PUMA Velocity Nitro 2 and Saucony Ride 15 in the list (and kick Cloudmonster and Axon as they are quite dissimilar).
The turbo was my absolute favorite shoe!! I bought at least 3 pairs of them. I was so sad when they were discontinued. Some pegs work for me and some don't. I hope this year is a keeper! 🤞
I have gone through about 15 pairs of Pegasus since the Pegasus 33. I love the shoes and can’t wait to get a few pairs of 39s. I usually buy the previous years version since I can get them at a fraction of the cost for a daily trainer. Since it’s not my race shoe why would I need the most updated version the day it comes out is my thought.
I still have a really nice pair of Pegasus 33's. One of my best fitting shoes/comfy shoes. I had some pegasus 36 shields and it was a downgrade and havent bought any pegasus shoes since. Something about that pointed heel vs the rounded heel on the 33 just kills it for me.
The Grand Canyon for me. I remember the first time I walked up to the edge and being in complete awe at the beauty and immensity of what was basically invisible from further back.
I used the Chariot all through high school. I pronated horribly. After HS I became a neutral runner. Coach credited the Chariot with correcting my mechanics as the body grew. I agree.
Even though I have a wide foot I always love the Pegasus. I just purchase the wide option which can be a little limited for color way but that’s not important to me. I like the outsole because it’s the perfect shoe for Oregon rainy weather and I use it to run from road to trail. I don’t need a plated, bouncy expensive shoe for my 3-5 mile daily runs and the $ 120( now $ 130) price is perfect for my budget.
The Peg 38 feels totally different under the ball of my foot, as if it has no cushion under there, but then a ton under the heel. It didn't fit my running style (I'm not a heel striker). The Peg 39 totally evened it out, so it feels fine under the ball of my foot. Peg 39's heel cushion is still there and yet less tall, which makes it comfortable for walking and standing. I'd say the Peg 39 is pretty okay, whereas the Peg 38 left a lot to be desired. Well, Nike running shoes generally don't last as long as other brands for me, but they look good.
Seth, I remember the Beacon V1 vlog; must have been one of my first on your channel. I bought it after your recommendation. I didn’t know it was so close to the start of your shoe reviews. What a journey you’ve had and business you’ve built to the benefit of we runners.
My first pair of running shoes back in 1986 was the Pegasus. It was the second iteration of that shoe which came out in 85 after the original Pegasus in 83. I no longer run in Nike shoes, but it was a good shoe for me back in the 80s.
the Axon 2 over the Ride 15 as an alternative??? 🤷🤔. The Ride is a "classic daily trainer" and is even about the same price as the Peg. the Axon is a discount shoe.
Big Pegasus fan here , very glad to see the score went up on your review and i can see you also enjoyed them looking at the distance you have taken them and seems it looks like they have gone on the trails as well , but you must please tell us more about the rear air zoom unit , did it make a difference for you? QD The Egyptian pyramids have always been a intriguing place for me and p.s. they also have tunnels to explore.
Interested to see the evolution. Peg 38s were my first pegs and likely to be my last as I find them painful to run in. Picked up a pair of mach 4s in the sales so hopefully they will be a lot better!
I had the peg 38, but had an up and down relationship with them. I was skeptical about the 39, but then the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 caught my attention. I went for the Puma, and would say they are similar to the pegasus but much nicer and better to run in. :P
QOD: Bryce Canyon, Utah: I remember being amazed by how such an incredibly beautiful, completely out of place, landscape just seems to appear out of nowhere. That was my experience even knowing it was there. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the first person to ever see it.
QD: I would say Cape Town, South Africa. I know it wouldn’t be a city yet but that area from a drone shot is just so beautifully picturesque with the mountain in the middle, super cool. Love the channel thanks for all you do!
My favorite Peg is the 33, as soon as they went from the rounded heel to the pointed heel it messes with my gait. Wish I could grab another pair of 33's.
Never got along with the Peg. The heel counter is too stiff and grinds into my Achilles. React foam and air bags seems like something from 12 years ago
I've tried a few running shoes before finally settling down with the Peg 37 last year. I'll probably never buy anything other than the Pegasus from here on out. For the price and how well they work for me I've definitely found a winner. I have bad knees and arthritis. These seem to be the only shoes that I've tried that haven't killed my knees. I'm sure there are probably $200+ shoes that would work just as well, but considering the Peg doesn't change much I can squeak by with paying like $80 for last year's version. Maybe I'll get the 39 next year.
The Peg 39 might be THE NIKE to own. Even over their highly successful "race shoes" (I think are overrated....good but not as great as their fans want to think). Checks all the boxes for me. Relatively low stack height being under 30mm at the heel. React foam I think is THE faom to have....even over ZOOM X...bcause REACT is more durable....what is odd to me is the jjoutsole you get depends on the colour way. I think the black outsole you get on the 2 other colour ways is stickier. Maybe less "heavy"? Not sure if the "sticky tread" you can opt for by custom ordering By You is different. Is it even more sticky than what is on the std Pg 39's?? Peg 38 is selling for the same money as the Peg 39 in Toronto....havent spotte any sales....which is really when we SHOULD be buying our shoes....this is a perishable item!! :) "....Peg 40 WOOOO!! Should be interesting...." LOL!! :))
38 was my first peg and I didn't mind it, honestly. It took a lot of miles. My other friends said it was unbearable. Wish I had tried one of the earlier ones, because I guess I just don't know what I'm missing.
I've ran marathons and ultras in the Pegasus 39s but I wanted to know if I'd be able to run in the vapour fly or aplhafly. I'm flat footed and have no issues with the Pegasus but do the vaporfly or aplhafly come up narrow compared to the Pegasus 39
@@A_D624 I own them. They are my favorite shoe. I have racked up Soo many miles in them over the last 3 months. But there are days that I like grabbing the pegs
@@A_D624 Well i've got both and it does not compare since the Pegs are more day to day / easy run shoes, while the speeds are great for workouts and tempo runs, so not really the same category for me !
Ancient ruins fascinate me. They are footprints left from a bygone civilization. Imagine being the first person to discover the Giza or Mayan pyramids or Stonehenge and the Moai on Easter island? Discovering natural formations is great. But what our ancestors were doing with the elements is even more interesting.
I currently have and enjoy the 38, but I really did not like the 36, which is the last and first Pegasus I had. It was good as a walk around shoe, but was very uncomfortable as a running shoe.
QD: Lake Tahoe! How amazing it would have been to crest over a ridge and see such a giant vibrant blue body of water. Tahoe 200 is on my bucket list even if for the views alone
Much like you, I’ve ran in the Pegasus line since the 35. The 35 and 36 had flywire, then it went away on the Pegasus line. The Winflo 8 and Infinity 2 both had Flywire recently. I personally prefer Flywire over the lace loop system used on the 37 and 38 models. That being said, as much as the Pegasus has been the workhorse daily trainer, the Asics Novablast, Puma Velocity Nitro, and I’ll even say the Saucony Ride 15 have taken the daily trainer to a new level. Heck, even the Sketchers Ride 10 seems like a much more fun, exciting, and versatile daily trainer to the Pegasus. Nike makes some amazing racing shoes, but their daily trainer lineup is lacking, with the exception of the Vomero 16. That is a darn good shoe.
IMO it doesn't merit to be a drawback if the heel collar is not comfortable enough if the shoe has a good lockdown and ride bc once you're starting to enjoy the run you'll forget it immediately. That's too minor to be drawback.
Ouch! Not moved by what I'm seeing on the reviews of the Air Zoom Pegasus 39. It surely looks like I will wait for the NB3 to be available to replace my old Pegasus 37's. Great Review as always
Just trying the zoom fly 4 put getting a bit of burning in the outer soles of feet so thinking of maybe exchanging to a wide fit peg. Using them as a tempo shoe.
Two different shoes. If I had to choose only one, I'd go with the Pegasus since it's more versatile. But I also train pretty hard and do a variety of runs. If you're more into just casual runs, the Invincible might be an option if you want something soft and squishy to jog in.
@@flips220 I have the Peg 38 & I use it more as a daily trainer. Not so much for pushing the pace because I have better options. I’m really digging the thicker react foam, the invincible is just a pleasure to run in.
Hello Started Using Pegasus 39 last week..did five runs..each around 7km... I am getting more pain at the top of my foot (where I tighten my laces) when I use a runner's knot to tie my laces. Is there a solution for this?
The longest cave system is in the US, Mexico is second, I think. And If I would go back to the end of the XV century, as Mexican Indigenous, I would "discover" Europe before they "discover" us. Greetings from Austria.
The Nike Peg series is lost .. I’m not sure Nike actually cares about this line any longer. The 37 was the worst shoe. The 38 wasn’t much better. Nike seems to be concentrating on the Vaporflys and Next% lines. I think the Invincible line is a better grab than the Peg.
Seth, If you are fascinated by caves.? .....you must visit Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. I went there last summer and it was awesome! I Believe it is the largest cave system in the world? or 2nd largest? The cave tour is not for the fat or feeble. It is actually a good hike, an underground hike
The peg 39 is so much better than you are giving it credit for. I would compare it directly to the novablast 2. It seems as though you've become a sneaker snob.
This channel has zero to do with health. It's about shoe marketing commercials. Forgetting about how unhealthy it is on the human animal body to run marathons........heel toe running and the huge heel cushion they keep building on these pedestrian ill-informed ultra-consumers. They know humans do every the easy way. This is about marathon times and distance. It's like using an electric bike, weighing 5lbs with the most Aerodynamic gear in the Tour de France. (Which is for money/profit) It's propelling one's body in the most efficient non-taxing way to go longer distances in the shortest amount of time. We did pave the hell out of almost the entire Earth, so there exists the necessity for cushions. The day I land or use my heel in running or even have it touch the ground, is a day maybe when I'm 70 plus years of age and can't physically use my foot pad or hamstrings anymore. Even midfoot strike is horrid. Go for a run barefoot and see how much you use your heel. You'd break it in about 3 minutes. This lazy consumer oriented engineering serves no place on a "runners review" channel. Just because one is doing it for many years, doesn't make it correct or healthy. Time, distance and money = not why I run. That's why I don't have a channel (7.5 mens? Ahh) [Nike actually met on this many many years ago about promoting unhealthy cushion for profit]

Please do a vs the nimbus 24
i swear this guy is related to Levi Lavalle
The longest cave system is in the US, Mexico is second, I think. And If I would go back to the end of the XV century, as Mexican Indigenous, I would "discover" Europe before they "discover" us. Greetings from Austria.
The Nike Peg series is lost .. I’m not sure Nike actually cares about this line any longer. The 37 was the worst shoe. The 38 wasn’t much better. Nike seems to be concentrating on the Vaporflys and Next% lines. I think the Invincible line is a better grab than the Peg.
I'm not a serious runner and i'm not rich. Pegasus is perfect for me
Thankfully the 39 is Much better than the 37 and 38!
I have the 37 and absolutely love them 🤷🏻♂️
Peg 38 pales in comparison to the peg turbo. I don't know why they discontinued that shoe.
Quality control. ZoomX is amazing but not the most durable. It splits from the React foam and cracks too easily on the Peg Turbo 1 and 2.
“It feels like a peg…”. :|
Or area 51
2nd
Most overrated shoe
Thats probably why they throw them out for 75 bucks already! 😜
