The model for Ochiba is Yodo-dono, one of the three most evil women in Japan. She later becomes an enemy of Toranaga (Ieyasu) over the dominance of Japan.
Under less than 5 minutes, Lady Ochiba demonstrates that she is not the same sort of lady as Mariko and Fuji. Unlike those two, Ochiba is not only in charge of her own life, she is also in charge of men around despite having no official authority.
She’s literally in charge of the whole country, to be fair.
In lieu of her husband she acts as regent

Well she's not the same with mariko and fuji she's the consort of taiko and the mother of the heir to the shogunate at this point. That authority alone makes her far more powerful than those 2. Mariko and Fuji doesn't have authority to the council so this is a bad comparison.

The real Ishida Mitsunari's family was servant of Azai clan and Mitsunari and his father was recruited by Hideyoshi (and therefore saved from the destruction of Azai by the Oda). This explain how loyal Mitsunari to Lady Chacha Dono

It’s not really shown in this clip but near the end when she stands up and walks towards Ishida, you can see him physically recoil a bit as she towers over him lol. You can immediately feel the power dynamic in the room is very much in her favour.

what is it with evil Asian queens? Lady Ochiba and Queen Cho (from Kingdom) are both scarier than their European counterparts.
For any woman to rise and survive in that period… they have to be the sharpest blade.
It might be because many Asian courts at the time consisted of harems. So in order to survive, those who ended up on top stayed there by being ruthless and cunning in their ways.

More like where cersei was based. Shogun was released 16 years before Game of Thrones and Martin derived many of the political plot elements from the book and medieval England history but with dragons and ice zombies.
