Aaron: Love all the stuff you are showing us steel picking wanabees. I tried the steel years ago while serving in the military. Back then there was no internet and guys like you to guide a person in the right direction. Wish I'd had your help back in the day. I would be a lot farther along then I am right now. Thanks pal. You have given me a new outlook on life in the retirement phase of it. Many thanks to you. Sincerely............Reg LeBlanc
Love the C 6th sound. The first few times I tried this lick ,it was laughable, it didn't sound close to your version . But now it's closer. Thanks Aaron!
Great video! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain what chords are used and what other contexts they fit into. I have one suggestion: although I like your echo effect stylistically, it can make rhythms/beats somewhat difficult to interpret when learning a lick. You have awesome technique, so don’t be afraid to play the steel “naked”!
Wonderful stuff, as always. Just to note, I find that with my copedent, I can susbstitute the C pedal for the A pedal, and get the same chord sequence. This makes it much easier for me. This is such a challenging progression, but it will be well worth the effort. Thank you so much!!
Nice lesson Aaron! I'll give it a try. Had fun at Dallas and it was a pleasure meeting you and your son. The steel show was awesome and it was a little loud..my ears hurt the next day lol!
Hey, Don it was a treat to finally meet you. I replied to one of your older messages by the way. My son and I had a great time. Maybe next year we can make a couple days of the show. Again thanks! Aaron
Thanks Aaron, I like playing the C-6 sounds on the E-9th neck sounds really cool. I'm very limited on the C-6 neck. So slipping some of it in adds variety. Going to work on it right now.
Paul, the first part is walking up to a C7th, than adding the A pedal gives you a C6th. The chord at the 11 is a Bb9th than back to C6 at the 8th fret. The chord at the 6th fret with E to Eb knee is a F6, the one at the 7th with A pedal is a F7 it end at the 6th fret A pedal Eb knee that is a F9th. Hope this helps. Aaron

would like to see some common turns (chord positions) on the c neck - for instance: 4, 4#dim, 1, 6 dom, 2 dom, 5 dom, 1. thanx
Bill, will put this on our request list. That will be a good lesson for us to cover.
Thanks! Aaron
