Nice, informative video. One thing: I haven't yet gotten my upcoming Z fc in hand so I can't check, but there are those who are reporting that the top plate is, indeed, light gauge magnesium alloy (in addition to the underlying chassis). Might want to make a quick and crude test: Place the camera in a nicely air conditioned room for about an hour. Then touch the lower plate with the battery compartment - which is surely plastic. With that, then bring a finger to the top plate (not the name plate, however). If it's notably cooler to the touch than the bottom plate, then it's probably metal.

It seems the top plate is metal, but you are right.. it's extremely thin. Despite being metal it stands in stark contrast to the solid aluminum dials.

@@JeremySmithPhotography - Right. The top plate, as told, doesn't have the same thickness as the chrome-plated brass of the Nikon film days. But, as magnesium alloy, it *may* have similar tensile strength. Can't wait to get mine.

I like mine as a companion to my Z6II. Very different experiences.

Great video. I would love to see a video where you do a portrait type shoot with a model. Just curious how good the image quality is. Thanks sir.

    Hi Jeremy
I'd really to hear from someone who has used the Zfc for a while, especially with reards to the User interface,
Eg the dials versus the menu system

Nice review. I wonder what the stabilisation is like in video mode. Can you walk and vlog with it?

Thank you! A vlogging test sounds like a good idea, I will have to see what I can do. In the meantime check out my Z 50 review at around the 6 minute mark I test it's vlogging abilities. I would expect this camera to perform very similarly. ua-cam.com/video/Q26cz_xcwYM/v-deo.html

How is the build quality compared to something like the X100V? Reports of it being light weight have put me off slightly.

It still feels solid but you can tell that the parts that are metal (except the dials) are vey thin. It doesn't necessarily feel cheap but is "lighter" feeling than expected. If you are used to the feel of the X100V you will be a little disappointed with the Z fc.

I would keep the Z9 for professional work and the Zfc. All the other Z cameras except the Z5 are nowhere near the competition.
Comes from someone who has owned Z6, Z6 ii, Z7ii and used all Z cameras other than that Z9

Its like a worse Fuji X-T3 for the same price - it has less megapixel no backside illumination, just 1 SD-cardslot with slow UHS-1 standard, no 10 bit recording, no good lensselection (yea - u can buy more expensive full frame lenses for this, but this is more expensive and bigger than it should be). its not aimed at advanced or professional photographers - its an entry level camera with a cool looking body - price should be 500€...
