We filmed and recorded this at the same time as the Arms Like Teeth playthrough, but we were touring pretty heavily in 2018, so that's why this is getting uploaded a year later. Here's Haunt Me, one of my favourites off of YNYA.

When Kyle Brownlee posts drum playthroughs, everybody eats.
Jeff Clark everybody EATS
This is so clean I don't need to take a shower for weeks
That’s the best sounding kit I’ve ever heard.
The last 30 seconds of the song is so powerful. His drumming and the leads of the guitar. It’s monumental.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one worried about Kyle filling Kelly's shoes, but holy fuck, this guy can play. And write. Simply enjoyable to watch.
You absolute machine
It should be illegal for drums to sound as good as this.
That’s the best sounding snare on the planet earth.
He’s the only drummer with no dislikes. Well deserved
Damn, everything sounds so good. The kick is hella punch, the snare had the perfect amount of crack, the cymbals are crisp, and the toms have a good "thud"
I know this is an old joke but: great FC mighty blindzor!
legend #NeverForget
This man maximizes such a minimal drum kit! Perfection.
Sounds phenomenal, great mix!
Great mix, man. Those drums sound massive.
This is my favorite song from the album, though the whole album was nothing but bangers... This song in particular resonated a little more deeply with me.
isn't this the guy from the giraffe tweet?
Man, I've been following you for a long time. I know I'm not the only one that's been a big fan since the Rock Band days. It's been a huge inspiration to see as a drummer, and just as a dude, knowing back then that you would end up exactly where you are now. Love the style and sound, always have. If there's anyone I could play similarly to it's you brotha. Keep killin it.
I am a guitarist! Going through learning all the counterparts stuff! Even tho i dont play drums i have to say this is incredible and it would be amazing playing with a drummer like you.
It’s just as I expected it to be.... just to good! Awesome work Kyle!!
Such a powerful sounding kit! Daaang! 🖤
I'm here because I also played Expert drums on Rockband. You are the man dude!
Hell yeah man, killing it!
Been waiting to see this for awhile and so stoked to see this uploaded
Incredible playthrough and your sound is killer!
God I wish I could play like this 😱🥁
Sick playthrough! Been waiting for this!
No dislikes for one reason... Raw talent. Love your craft dude!
awesome, and really great sound for drum play-through
Beautiful sounding drums man! Snare sounds killer! I'm searching for a similar sound on mine as well.
I love how your kit sounds man
Oh sweet damn. Love the playthrough videos :D watch them a lot and take a lot from them. You da real MVP kyle!
5* FC
so fucking good dude ! slammed the mix and the drumming as well ❤️❤️
I thought I recognized the layout (description), haha, hope you had a great time on tour man. Keep living that dream.
wow, I didnt know Antonio conte is such a good drummer
Make a playthrough for the whole record or I'm gon' be upset.
that snare is MEAN.
Please do more of these high quality playthroughs (if time will let u)
daamn man, your incredible
Buen rollo se ve bien con la camara que graba desde lo alto se logra ver lo que ejecuta buena vibra carnal.
Damn... No dislikes! Good, stay that way.
:50 - :56 is the weirdest thing, it's like the camera frame rate couldn't pick up the beater during that time. It looks like the pillow is still moving showing the drum being hit, but the beater is just floppin then goes back to normal.
sooooo tight
That sound, fuck!
Solid af dude
Yesss finally!! What about Fragile Limbs next?
Fireeee
Holy shit long time no upload.
Do you have the drum samples for each percussion available? I would love to add these sounds to my electric set.
Thank you!
Do you use triggers sounds amazing by the way.
He does not, just some great mixing
The best
*Long life Blindz0r!*
Insane. What size is the crash you're using here?
Love it! Your style is so clean and fluid. That snare sounds a little sloshy...is that intentional? Sounds like your reso head is a little loose and making it sound flat. Just my perpetual nit picking, lol.
If that's the case it's obviously the sound they wanted to go with anyways. You don't have this much post production and not care enough to tighten the reso if it's a bother.
BurnThePope it’s true, which begs the question, why would you want that sound? To each their own, I guess, but it muffles the tone of the snare.
Evan Neel this is exactly how I like my snare - bunch of crack, big body, and warm tone with powerful transients. Has a lot of character to the tone as well and mixes nicely with the other shells
Kyle Brownlee fair enough. I’ve found tuning my batter low and reso high(er) produces the same tone without the slosh. But I’m not you and you’re not me. Respect man! Love your stuff!
@@rushour144 I think it sounds pretty bad ass to be honest
i'm glad i'm the first 150 people to watch this
круто снято !!! трек супер, звук очень клевый. Респект
Hell. Motherfucking. Yes. Mate.
Please make more drum through videos, they’re so damn good
Apart from hitting hard, how do you get such a smack in your shells!? What kind of comp processing or what’s on your parallel compression bus? Very Will Putney influenced.
Snare is two mics tracked and processed separately, one for body and the other for crack, both compressed using 1176 style comps, then sent to a snare bus for heavy compression using the Distressor Slate plugin with a bunch of saturation. Then I clip my snare kinda hard.
Toms are duped and split into two tracks, one for attack and body, (using only one mic) then processed with 1176 / Distressor combo also, heavily gated to keep cymbal bleed out, then smashed in a clipper.
Kick is similar to the snare.
All shells/rooms are sent to a drum bus to process with compression as glue, not smack. Usually 1176, Distressor or SSL style comp. Then I parallel compress that bus a bunch and slowly add in room mics to add more natural tone and body to the kit.
That’s a basic rundown, but that’s the idea. Capturing a consistent performance is the biggest factor here. I rimshot basically every snare hit and hit my toms just hard enough to keep the tonality where I want it without over or under-doing it. Next factor is tuning. The source I recorded honestly sounds fucking sick too. Having both those locked in allows me to use no samples and process the kit to an extreme without it sounding disgusting or ridiculous.
Un fucking real
SSBLiNDZ0r!!!!
Can you give me info about the gear you use please? Sounds awesome. Like what drumheads are those and whats that snare? Would really appreciate it!
xShooTemUp on my Instagram I have a story highlight with my drum rig set up! @kylebrownlee
@@ssblind73 What about this of us that don't use other social media sites? Lol. I hate the modern world at times haha.
@@ssblind73 Ah that's great, thanks for the fast reply!
When you record, are jamming the track with a click over it or just a click?
I'm guessing click with the track.
Cn someone tell me the name of his cymbals
fvck this sound so clean 😭🤙

It would be cool to have whole videos with only the drums, awesome song though
