    That’s lovely. As a beginner on leather work, I’ll start with this soon. Thanks for free pdf. What’s the spacing size? 3.85mm? Is it French style iron?

    You should please do an in depth video on skins. I'm from Florida in the US and we hunt iguanas down here. If you could direct me to sources on using skin for larger projects would be a huge help.

      Hi Mark and thanks for the message. Unfortunately I really don't feel I know enough on this yet to be comfortable talking about it. I've found a leather I like to work with and have been sticking to that for now. Hopefully as I learn more I'll feel happier sharing that here also :)

    Bonjour,
    Jolie tuto et sympas, bonnes explications merci
    attention les liens ne fonctionne plus décocuir à changer d'adresse depuis peu.
    questions => ou peut on trouvé ce genre de "doublure" tissus pour le fond et quelle épaiseure prendre ?
    l'huile de Pied de boeuf est elle impermeabilisante ?
    merci et bonne journée

    • @JamesBerry
      @JamesBerry  Рік тому

      Bonjour et merci pour ton message !
      Zut, je vais devoir vérifier tous les liens :o merci du signalement.
      La doublure provient d'un sac promotionnel que ma femme a eu lors d'un achat. Ne s'en servant jamais je l'ai massacré pour en faire des doublures. Du coup difficile de dire quelle épaisseur prendre surtout que je ne connais pas bien les notations d'épaisseur des tissus.
      L'huile de pied de boeuf protège le cuir de manière générale et peut prévenir d'une éclaboussure ou deux mais elle n'est pas imperméabilisante et ne remplacera pas l'application d'un bon cirage.

    Hello James. Thank you very much for the explanations and the template. It is thanks to your video that I started leatherworking. I had a go at the passport wallet this month but have an issue with the inner coat. Folding the wallet led to vertical lines on the inside fabric. Do you have an idea of what i did wrong to get this result?

    • @JamesBerry
      @JamesBerry  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Benjamin, unfortunately this is normal.
      There are 2 ways of mitigating this:
      1. The "proper" way: when gluing the inner coat to the leather, make sure the leather is held in a folded position, so the inner lining is already "stretched" or "folded" to the final shape of the wallet. For this project however this would be very difficult to do since the lining is very slightly smaller than the leather, meaning you need to be very precise.
      2. make sure your lining is as thin as possible and stretched out as much as possible while gluing. This won't stop crinkling fully but should help a bit.
      Hope this helps!

      This one is actually part of a promotional tote-bag that I had been given when purchasing cloths from a shop. No idea where you can find the same print though...

    A field notes book fits?

      @JamesBerry  2 роки тому

      I don't think so as this is exactly the right size for a passport.
