I think...Indonesia will never become the next Japan or like Japan. Indonesia will become a big country in terms of it's various sectors without having to be a reflection of other countries. Indonesia will progress with it's own image without imitating other countries. I'm sure of it, thank to God for positioning Indonesia where it is now, hopefully the future will be 10 times more better. Amennn 😊😇😇

I think at this point We don't need another Japan or South Korea like Country like how we imagine South Vietnam to be like South Korea if it survived or Philippines as the next Japan if it had an economic growth after World War Two. We should honestly let Asian Countries be their own thing.
I predict Indonesia would be somewhere between the next China, the next Japan and next South Korea as well, we will not immitate exactly each of them but potentially offering unique blends mixture amongst them, such as massive Digitalization Industries, huge Downstreaming Industries in Resource Industrialization, Industries Technological Advancements, massive Infrastructures: Physical & Digital, burgeoning Transport Industries, aside from Heavy Industrialization, plenty Basic Industries Industrializations, mushrooming Media & Telecommunications Industries, wide Industries that support Consumers, Industries support Maritime, as well as potentially high tech Military & Defense Industries, etc. All of them are not likely immitating only 1 of the ASIAN GIANTS but potentially combining All of them with some more other potentials that each of them might not necessariy have.
Can't wait INDONESIA formally join OECD & perhaps one day joining becoming one of the G8 Or G9 after becoming prominent member & effective ex-leader of G20. Cheers...

Indonesia never adopted Japan's policies Indonesia has always followed its own course and has somewhat outpaced Japan in terms of economic growth.
Currently yes (Indonesia gdp growth was more than Japan) But back in time double digit growth? We only manage two times in our history and Japan almost 1960s was full with double digit growth.
With current trend we can't become developed country. 5 or 6 % growth was not enough to exit from middle income trap.

It will be long-term sustainable and in coordination with everyone, there will be a bright future ahead. That is the path Indonesia will take.
@@imtiyazhossain3053 i doubt it. Rich in natural resources tend to have Dutch disease and if we see history much of our history was based on natural resources. Sure it was make certainty that we never truly broke, but make less incentive to become more advance in economy. Sustainability? Are you joking? Every year how much forest in Kalimantan converted to become coal mine. If you know palm oil, you need to know that we used to burn that after harvest or when we converted some land to palm oil operation (because dust from that burning thing actually have nutrition for land) and make really bad air polution in Sumatera, Singapore and Malaysia ? I also have paper that my dean in my university wrote about with current trend we can't become developed country.

If Indonesia wants to develop, sumatra and kalimantan must be developed first which is the only two large islands
one of the reason why capital city move to Kalimantan. For Sumatera it will be more developed after all province connected with new toll road and some strategic project finished.

Jepang maju seperti sekarang y karena sudah dibentuk sejak 1870 sejak reformasi meiji makanya bisa menantang sekutu di PD2 walaupun negaranya dibombardir bersama dg Jerman dan Italia hitungannya negara2 ini sudah memiliki fudamental kuat untuk menjadi negara maju 😅contohnya angka buta huruf yg rendah pendidikan sudah mapan sehingga ada bantuan US langsung dimanfaatkan sebaiknya yg kasus unik y Korsel walaupun negara yg dijajah mereka bisa maju karena ada kepentingan US agar membentengi Komunis karena itu US berinvestasi dan intervensi thd ekonomi Korsel dan juga Korsel bertumbuh karena suntikan dari Jepang juga y akhirnya bisa maju. Sementara China bisa maju seperti sekarang karena politiknya terpimpin sehingga tidak ada gesekan dan bisa mengarahkan industrialisasi dg baik ketika investor masuk ke negara mereka sehingga pertumbuhan awal mereka di 1980-2000an diatas 10% ini lebih besar dari India saat ini yg masih di 7% an. Ya bagaimana tidak tantangan India dan Indonesia hampir sama karena sistem pendidikan yang belum terbentuk sempurna, banyaknya masyarakat yg berpendidikan rendah, masyarakat tradisional, ditambah dengan model politik demokrasi. Kalau untuk kasus korupsi di negara maju yg lain juga ada byk contohnya di US, Korsel, eropa dll. Intinya yg penting industrialisasi

Indonesia can beat Thailand easily in tourism sector if government want to invest more in tourism industry including supporting facility. There are too many beautiful natural landscape rarely known by tourist.

Indonesia is a very diverse country, you can't compare it to ethno-states like Japan.
I predict that - assuming it solves its current issues - Java could potentially become a next Japan.
Sumatra, however, may develop into something more closely resembling a California 70-100 years ago - as in rich in natural resources, car-centric society, small towns connected by inter-city and inter-provincial highways, maybe developing some industries in higher end manufactures (as the lower population concentration but cheap land and resources makes it more well-suited to producing higher-value goods in capital-intensive industries).
Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) could probably end up pretty similar to neighboring Malaysian Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak), assuming it continues to develop (and not just in terms of physical infrastructure).
Sulawesi still has very strong patronage bonds - the society feels almost feudal in most places, though you can probably say this about much of Indonesia outside Java. It's hard to say at this point where it could end up being, but the more developed parts of the Philippines (Luzon) is likely within reach for Sulawesi.
As for the Papuas, it could end up as either the next Democratic Republic of Congo, or a Rhodesia (with all the good and bad of it), or if does really well, maybe something approaching a Northern Australia.

That's nice I guess, which means each country might have their own special little thing and it can be clumped into one giant sector, a good solution for the hedonic treadmill, instead of one thing, we can make it a cycle.
