Emeralds costumes are my favourite from the well-known ballets. I like emerald green anyway but the tulle midi length skirts are so romantic - also the sparkly dangling jewels!
Ever since I saw this in the theater, I was just waiting for it to be uploaded on yt, so that I can watch it again! So dazzling, sassy and yet, very elegant and gentle. ✨Think I’ve seen this variation numerous times but Beatriz is my favourite. Love her character and personality, brings something new to any role she does. Love you B ❤️
Somehow with Beatriz in this variation, one sees all the ages of a woman in her face and body. The tremulous joy of girlhood, the supple energy of youth........then, a glimpse of the richness of maturity; the dignity of a life well lived. She is a profound dancer.
Such a stunning performance! I love the way she uses her arms and facial expressions. When I've watched this variation elsewhere, the steps can look forced and stiff. However, with Beatriz, everything just seems to flow so naturally and it is just captivating.
Beatriz was always one of the better actresses at the Royal Ballet. Her dancing was always on point (pun intended), but you got the sense that she was always engaged emotionally with the roles she played. With due respect, a lot of people, including many of the principals, just sort of spin and smile and that is about it emotion-wise. But Beatriz had an extremely expressive face and left no doubt that she knew how to use it to her full advantage. Top-flight dancing and facial acting in equal measure is a rare talent and Beatriz had it.
She really was, her acting skills are just so up there, even in small roles. If you watch Marianela Nunez and Vadim in their black swan coda, she is sitting to the side as one of he suitors, he facial expressions as she realises what's going on and she has lost the prince are exceptional and she's not even dancing at that point, merely sitting in the background.
Agreed; her death glares of jealousy took an already perfect-10 scene up to 11. Another top-flight performance from Beatriz was in the Naghdi-Ball version of Romeo and Juliet from 2019. Bea played the memorable supporting role of Romeo’s favorite hooker and pulled off the astonishing feat of cultivating enough chemistry with Matthew Ball as Romeo, through her strong acting, that you actually felt sorry for her when Romeo blows her off having fully committed himself to Juliet. Which is astounding because Matthew and Yasmine’s chemistry in that ballet was borderline softcore; only an actress of Bea’s caliber could provide any sort of competition to that.
What a lovely solo excerpt from one of my favourite Balanchine ballet. Beatriz is such a gorgeous dancer and I have followed her ever since she appeared with the Royal Ballet as one of the Alices in the Christopher Wheeldon ballet. Maybe time for her to be promoted and also for a return of Jewels in the new season at the Royal Ballet?
wow, fabulous performance. and it is SO nice to see a ballerina without the frozen smile so many seem to plaster on their faces. she has a lovely expressive face. will be watching for this dancer!
You can see a lot of her on Royal Ballet releases on DVD & Blu-ray over the last few years, with plenty of big numbers, if you look carefully. I particularly like her performance on Woolf Works, Within the Golden Hour and Corybantic Games.
She has captured the difficult choreography with such precise movements as well as a lovely flow throughout the variation. She looks so gorgeous in the emerald costume. Lookinging forward to seeing more of her, C💟💟💟
Does anyone know when the last time the ROH performed a Balanchine piece was? I have a feeling Symphony in C was performed somewhat recently but am unsure. Would love to see some again soon.
It's odd to me that the dance and the music seem to not go well together. The music seems so somber and soft while the dance almost seems joyful and energetic. Perhaps I am missing something about the meaning but, this is just my view.
I love this ballerina because she isn't too thin. Some of ballerina are too thin I don't even want to watch the performance because I will feel painful.
I don’t know. Too much personality packed in . Sounds crazy but I don’t know how else to say it. Beautiful , of course but I feel it should be less flamboyant and more dreamy . Like the green of the French absinthe.
Kathy Myers I actually disagree; all I see is the music (which I do wish was a bit faster, because it forces her to indulge more than it looks like she wants to)
To me, there is no musicality or beauty to Jewels. Ms Stix-Brunell is excellent here, but I guess the "genius" of Balachine escapes me....and I'm okay with this. lol

I am so sad she is leaving ballet but happy that she is going to Stanford. She has such charisma and personality that make her shine on stage.
she is so graceful at the same time that her movements are so precisely

Mughal princess
Thats why those tutus are called romantic style.
Awe... Incredible technique: precise and soft movements at the same time.
Beautiful performance.
Congratulations, Beatriz! 👏🏻💐
I've seen many in this role and this is really a standout! Brava! She wafts around the stage like French perfume! Just gorgeous.
A deceptively difficult variation executed beautifully and makes it look easy.
Love how she feels the music, super expressive, beautifuly danced 👏🏻
Can’t help myself screaming bravo every time I watch it !

Absolutely delightful and inspiring!

Get it, Bea! Gorgeous. And her Balanchine training really shows beautifully here.
She’s amazing. Beatriz and Yuhui are my favorite dancers in royal ballet.

Graceful. Powerful, genuine, noble , freeing my mind and feels like I can fly with her movements and imagination .

Would love to see more of her, she’s fantastic 💛

There's a new DVD out - Concerto/Enigma Variations/Raymonda Act III which she features in, you might want to give that a try!
Emeralds is my favourite section from Jewels. Thank you for sharing this. Brava, Beatrix!
Yesss, thank you so much! We need more clips of the beautiful Beatriz ❤
Beautiful to watch ❤️❤️❤️ Also, I love the way she floated her dress.
Very sensual movements. Excellent fluidity.
That was just exquisite.
Powerful and delicate at the same time. Loved it.
Incredible amazing, such a joy to see! 💚💛❤️💜
beautiful and modestly luxurious
Wow so precise and pretty!
Bea, why did you retire.... I will miss her presence on the stage.....
Beautiful, Beatriz.
Stunning...
Awwww she has such a pretty face! Beautiful performance B 💜
That, was breathtaking.

Beautiful dance amazing 😍
I've been hoping this was going to be uploaded - so beautiful! 😍😍😍
she is so graceful and balanced
She’s amazing 💛💛💛
Super lovely!
Something about the music at 0:50 gives me chills every time.
I’m going to miss her 😞
fantastic
Wonderful.
Beatriz was actually an SAB student years ago, nice to see her incorporating what she's learned there.
Beautiful
Can someone tell me the name of this piece of music? I have been trying to find it.
It's the second movement from Fauré's Pelleas et Méllisande. I'd recommend you check out the other movements as well, they are wroth the listen.
Bravissima!
My favourite part from Jewels.
This video gives me hope that ROH is putting on Jewels next year
So beautiful ! it changes us from the strikers of paris opera
Emeralds are the best part
Linda!🙏🏻❤️💐👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷🖖🏻
❤❤❤
Brava Beatriz! A very long way from Brick Church nursery school.
This was lovely, and I'm not even a Jewels fan :)
She's so fine she blows my mind. ( lyric partly from NY)

dance must evolve into universal praxis
It's a matter of artistic interpretation. This dancer is smiling way too much which creates the joyful impression you got.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I've never seen someone say so much with their back and shoulders
올려줘서 곰마워 ~
God bless Hanafi emeralds
Beautifully danced....but emeralds for me is the section that il too long and repetitive....I prefer rubies and diamonds
I love this ballerina because she isn't too thin. Some of ballerina are too thin I don't even want to watch the performance because I will feel painful.

I like the diamonds section in terms of the choreography and score - but absolutely love the emeralds costumes.
Can't watch Balanchine port de bras
My unpopular opinoin....she tickles soooo bad-🙅♀️🙅♀️not beautiful for me at all
great tec, not so carismatic .....
