That gruel porridge would hit the spot for a starving person and theyd praise god for having it. There are no words to describe how really rough our ancestors lived and survived. Ben Franklin was a genius, a gentlemen not so much but wise indeed. Congratulations on your achievements, We greatly enjoy your rendition of how early Americans lived.

There is a great biography about Benjamin Franklin that revealed him being a womanizer and how he abandoned his first wife. The reason why I say it was a great biography is because often biographies were patriotic so that highlighted the good and ignored or lightly mentioned the bad. And some biographies intentionally dig for the skeletons. This particular one I read gave Ben in an uncensored view and let the reader decide. It was written by Walter Isaacson I believe.
BTW, unless I REALLY had no choice of food and fasting/starving won't work until payday (which I've had days of no food because nothing in the cupboards and no money in the bank), if gruel was it and offered...give me a bib and let me eat (I guess).
Congrats on your milestone. Really enjoy your videos.

Congratulations! As someone who struggles with reading I respect and appreciate Ron's efforts and bravery! How to afford steak? I buy a roast and I cut it myself, across the grain, into steaks. I can get about 10 small steaks for 20-25.00.
I also buy stew meat and fry it with mushrooms and onions and serve it with gravy over noodles or potatoes.

I had a grandpa many greats, on my fathers side who’s brothers fought in the American Revolution, one of them was captured and sent to a prison ship and never heard from again. But, my grandpa lived until he was 107 years old. He said he lived that long because he had a shot of home brew whisky every day! Lol they think he died from a broken heart because his favorite daughter who was taking care of him had to move in with her daughter because she was in her 80’s and needed help in her old age. He got so mad at her for moving away from him, he refused to speak to her, and he died not long after that. Bless him. My Great Granny who I loved dearly was born in 1885 ( her father was in the civil war) lived until just three months shy of her 100 birthday. She had been a midwife. She was amazing, I still miss her. I wouldn’t be surprised at people living not their 120’s.
Congratulations on 1 million and let’s get you to 2 million!

Probably a satire about the state of the colonies during the 2nd year of the French and Indian War, I am trying to learn as much about him as possible as he is my dear old Uncle Ben! Beautiful prayer Justine. Ron doesn’t like, but Justine does. Rice is a common food ideal for
everyone because is filling. So the poor had this rice gruel food for a meal. Thank for the explanation.
I didn’t know that Benjamin Franklin invented the swimming styles.
Interesting to know that he said the quote: “No gain, no pain.”
It’s difficult to imagine Benjamin Franklin doing that routine.
Thank you Ron for the history facts. Especially the birth of Eastman Kodak.

Rice porridge is a popular dish for breakfast and the sick in Thailand. It is called Jok (pronounced joke)😅 Usually pork floss or fish are added. I did a history project on Ben Franklin. Not only did he invent many things, but he started the first post office. Also, we would not have won the Revolutionary War when we did without him garnering support from the King of France. He was not a great husband and father though. He left his wife and child to go to France. He lived for years in France with a mistress.

Congrats on all your subscribers, just great! Gruel is difficult for a sophisticated palate...we are so use to what we each prefer to eat, when you have really experienced hunger for a long period of time, you would appreciate it more. A little bit of food is better than none at all even if it is thin gruel. We learned from the Concentration camps what a terrible thing it is to starve to death. Upon the liberation of the camps the first thing the soldiers wanted to do was feed them. 14,000 of those died from what became known as refeeding syndrome, many were so weak they couldn't digest what they were given. People in the settling of America had a starving time. It sure gives me pause to think about the possibility of that happening again, not so much for myself,I'm getting old and have lived a large portion of mine life without complete want but there have been times I went hungry so my children could eat, poverty is not pretty. I hope for you and Justine to have time to put some food up for hard times. I see them knocking. I know you'll don't want get too much into the sad facts of life but this video was a good though provoker. In studying our history we realize it wasn't pretty a lot of the time. The cemeteries prove that. Be well, stay strong.💞💞💞🇺🇸

Enjoyed the history lessons. I was told years ago that people could take thier camera into to any photographer, get thier film developed & have it reloaded with film. Well I checked this & found different info after a Google search.
"The introduction of the Kodak #1 camera in 1888. Invented and marketed by George Eastman (1854-1932), of New York, the Kodak was a simple box camera that came loaded with a 100-exposure roll of film. When the roll was finished, the entire machine was sent back to the factory in Rochester, where it was reloaded and returned to the customer while the first roll was being processed."
