Exactly it is because of our weak western leaders we and Ukraine are in this mess. We had months of Russia building there troops on Ukraine border. Rather than have a back bone and do as Ukraine was asking us to do do (which was set up a no fly zone and move our troops in), our leaders decided to pour trillions of aid into another conflict a lot of which was intercepted and slap sanctions after sanctions which only hurting our pockets.
If we had of just called Putin's bluff and told him the consequences of crossing that border I do not think he would have even dared. Would we be any less involved by doing that than training Ukraine troops and sending them weapons and aid?. Would we be in any more danger of Putin using nukes than we are in now?.
PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP AND KICK THESE WEAK CONSERVATIVES AND DEMOCRATES ALL OUT OF OFFICE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE FOR US ALL. I can't pretend to understand nor can I even imagine what I would be feeling or thinking if anyone from anywhere bombed my family or friends when they were living peacefully and securely in our sovereign nation. I can't imagine ever accepting the powers that did that as my new government, much less welcoming them. The deaths and damage that has been done to beautiful Ukraine and the Ukrainian people has been the actions of mad men.
Those same mad men have threatened, arrested, imtimidated, lied to and stolen from their own people in Russia. Those who have fled have had their finances, businesses and homes plundered. It is however difficult for me to have even a fraction of the sympathy I feel for the millions of Ukrainians, as the Russian people are not being bombed from above in the safety of their own homes, children in their own beds, mother's in hospitals after just giving birth and civilians seeking shelter being burried alive with their children.

Putin warned Ukraine early this year to back off from ever joining NATO and he'll call off his troops along the borders of Ukraine that he threatened to send to Ukraine if they don't listen, which Ukraine didn't not surprisingly. Putin only wants to protect his people are part of his job, and if meant sending troops to Ukraine to stop the threat faraway from his motherland which is understandable. I worked & my family lived in Eastern Europe & Russia for 5 years after the breakup of the Soviet Union. What Putin is doing to Ukraine is heartbreaking. I met her in Hollywood and we are now connected on instagram. And she was in tears that night after she felt comfortable enough to share with me how she felt about leaving her home in the Ukraine. The actual "total failure" is happening since decades. The Ministry of Defense spends too much money for bs and certainly not enough at all for military equipment and the whole Bundeswehr.
It's wrong to say that especially this government did it all wrong. This failure is systematic. Before the war almost no Germans complained about it but since war is happening everybody sees the scapegoat in the current government.
As I said Germany does much more meanwhile and there are many reasons that it took some time. But actually the German military eats itself by giving many weapons to Ukraine that Germany needs to defend itself and NATO. Even Germany has no IRIS-T system for itself left and many other weapon systems that wasn't in power yet (RCH 155 for example). This wouldn't be the case if there wasn't decades of mismanagement.
