Questlove (drummer) won the Academy Award for Best Documentary "Summer of Love". He's with the band "Roots" and Lin-Manuel Miranda says he was inspired to write Hamilton while on vacation reading the biography of Hamilton while listening to Roots...couldn't get their sound out of his head.

Hey guys, fun facts, and maybe a suggestion or two:
•The drummer she announced, Questlove, is the drummer for The Roots. They are infamous for their longevity and, no pun intended, deep roots in Philadelphia. They are the in house band for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, but Quest also DJ’s massive events and fills in with other bands. He is known to have unmatched musicology knowledge and over 500,000, yes THAT many vinyls in his personal collection. If you haven’t listened to anything by The Roots, you really should! They can play absolutely anything they are handed.
•Questlove directed his first documentary and won an Oscar for it last year. Chris Rock was presenting that award when Will Smith stormed the stage and hit Chris. The documentary was so good, but the name of it isn’t coming to me at the moment.
•The lead guitarist in the back, Adam Blackstone (I believe he’s wearing a cap backwards here), has also played with huge names and is very often called on for his deep musicology and ability to play just about anything. He has backed some huge names in massive concert tours and venues from Justin Timberlake to Kelly Clarkson to Taylor Swift and on and on. Blackstone pops up on random shows just like Questlove, many of the awards shows and such. In Timberlake’s special on Netflix, Adam Blackstone is the band leader, and played that whole 2 1/2 year tour with Justin.
•If you haven’t seen the 20/20 Experience special of the last big tour (and final two shows) with Justin Timberlake & The Tennessee Kids, I cannot recommend it enough!! It’s just a good show from the opening credits to the last. And believe me because I’m one of the ones that suggested y’all listen to some Grateful Dead. They couldn’t be more different, but I love them both and have seen both in concert more than once!
•Last in fun facts, and also in tune with The Dead, Jerry Garcia, who was one of the founders, the front man, major writing contributor, face of The Dead passed away pretty suddenly in the mid 90’s. That shook the band as a whole obviously, and they stopped touring and playing together. Bob Weir, another one of the founding members of The Dead, was ready to get back out and tour after a couple years of staying out of the public eye. He got the remaining members of the band on board and brought in John Mayer to front the band on guitar and lead vocals. They’ve toured for years and years as Dead & Company. They announced that this year’s tour will be their last. They are scheduled to play in Washington DC at The Kennedy Center with the National Symphony in the spring.
Suggestions:
•Obviously Timberlake’s special on Netflix.
•I’d love to see y’all listen to some Foo Fighters (Everlong or Times Like These acoustic would be some good ones, and there’s plenty on UA-cam). ‘Shame Shame’ is a newer song with totally different vibes. They sound great in smaller venues, but have done some really good shows in big arenas and stadiums. Apologies if y’all have already done them.
•Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones is another I would love to see y’all check out.
•And finally, lastly, because it’s been stuck in my head for a month now is Magic in the Hamptons by Social House ft. Lil’ Yachty.
