How does this work? Did you decompile the game and reprogram it? 0:26 I feel like I've heard this sequence of sounds somewhere else, but I can't put my finger on it. The one after the N sounds like Globox.
Yep! I've decompiled the game and been rewriting it in C#. The original game was written in C, but since it was object-oriented, using classes and such, it translates really well to C#. They also left some debug strings in the prototype version which has helped a lot with understanding the engine! As for the sounds, most sounds in this game are originally from Rayman 2, so you might recognize it from there.
@@artey6671 I used Ghidra. You can either manually define the processor as ARM:LE:32:v4t and then define the memory regions, or use a plugin such as this one: github.com/SiD3W4y/GhidraGBA which automates it and also labels the registers. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions ^^
Basically: Rayman 3 GBA is Rayman 2 in 2d with few hoodlums added in Rayman 3 GBA had cropped visuals This port makes higher resolution and make sprites in a size of Rayman 1 So that port is what you get if Rayman 2 was 2d
I'll probably add it as a supported game yeah. Probably under fan-games since this isn't official, even though I'm striving for it to be a functionally identical version to the original.
Just saw your work in recreating and/or remastering the *GBA* version of *Rayman 3* and the result is proving to be nothing short of commendable!!! 😎🎉🤩 Who knows if the version of *Rayman Raving Rabbids* belonging to the same platform will eventually receive the same treatment… 😋🤞🤔
@@RayCarrot you’re *VERY* welcome, obviously the decision is yours whether to entrust the (eventual) remastering of the *GBA* version of *Rayman Raving Rabbids* to others or not… 😊👍😇
Hey Raycarrot, I’m having problems with starting the disc version of my Rayman M and Rayman 2, the Rayman Control Panel also doesn’t fix anything and it doesn’t even recognise Rayman M. Idk maybe I’m just not experienced enough with how this works. Hope you can help me out.
For Rayman 2 it's very difficult getting the disc version to work on modern computers. I would recommend getting the digital version from GOG. It goes on sale quite often too. As for Rayman M, what do you mean by it not being recognized? Did you try installing it through the Rayman Control Panel?
@@RayCarrot so when I put in the Rayman 2 Disc, it added Rayman 2 to the Controller Panel, it didnt happen with Rayman M tho. I also want to say that I have the Rayman Collection (1 Disc is Rayman 2, the other one is 3, M and Print Studio)
@@beanoversum I'm not sure what you mean by adding the discs. You'll need to install the game from the disc to your computer. Usually the built-in installer doesn't work on modern systems, so instead you can install directly through RCP (Rayman Control Panel). You do so by pressing the + button to add a game and selecting the install from disc option next to the game.
This look great! :) If the GBA ROM of the Rayman 10th Anniversary edition is also supported I could actually use a self-dumped ROM ^^ (not that this would be important though 😛)
I didn't know about this until yesterday, and it was definitely one of the great surprises out there! So that's what you have been working on as well! 😅💦👍Definitely something to look forward to, and I think I know more people who may be interested💡I hope you'll maybe find 1 or 2 who could help with this ;-)
Yep, been working on this on and off for a while! I absolutely love this game, probably one of my favorite Rayman spin-offs. So I'm excited to eventually see this complete, even though it might take quite a while.
I do want to add some bonus content, but I'm not sure about alternate costumes. Maybe an option to play as the original Rayman 2-inspired Rayman from the prototypes.
Porting a 3D game is so much more complicated though! And this isn't your typical decompilation port I'm doing. It's rewriting the game in a new engine.
This is nuts. Can’t wait for the full release. Awesome work dude!
Yo RayCarrot is back (totally didn't upload 5 minutes ago)
I'm back twice!
Hey! My favorite Rayman GBA game getting a PC port? This is a dream come true for me!

Just spit balling here but it would be interesting to see some elements from console Rayman 3 in this
That’s pretty sweet, I’m assuming this will probably have Control Panel integration?

Thanks! 🙂As for RRR, that seems doubtful. At least I won't ever be doing that. Its engine is as nicely structured as this one.
