Loved this announcement. Just downloaded the beta and compared it to my FilmLab 2.5 scans. The beta already is amazing. Looking forward to the full version.
Hi, I'm interested in buying the program but there are some features that I'm missing. A histogram for example. Is there some roadmap of features that are coming so that I know which features you just didn't implement yet and which features you don't plan adding?
Can you share roadmap? I wish to see if there advanced tools somewhere in future? I wish to have curves, selective color adjustments more control over highlights / shadows / midtones and etc.

OMG this is amazing!! I'm using the free trial, definitely buying this. The colors are lovely, I really don't like to have to do color correction/callibration on my scans. I understand artists like that control, but I just want my film scans to have the colors from the Film
Amazing work. Colors in v3 are great, much better than 2.5. I think I'll finally switch as I prefer to invert negatives in dedicated app instead of lightroom plugin.
I have been looking for this type of software at is a stand alone product to convert my digital negatives. I watched your video and will probably try it soon. I will say that you need to have your product conversion process explained and demonstrated in detail in instructional videos to leverage all it’s features etc. You can find these on UA-cam for your competitors products. Finally I noticed you put this video out 2 months ago but it appears you have not responded to any of the comments to date. No a good look from a sales / marketing perspective.
First off - I have been testing Negative Lab Pro in LR and Film Lab 3.0 beta and I am loving the V3 results and really leaning towards switching! I cannot seem to get the batch function to work however. If i select a folder or try to import several images it does not work. that is a deal breaker for me as I dont want to have to import -> edit and then export each photo. do you have any update on this? Also - > is the density slider supposed to make my images darker?
If you're doing 100% black and white and you have an image editing program that lets you have precise control over the tone curve, you could probably get decent results. We're biased, of course, but we think FilmLab would probably help you get better results with a more enjoyable experience. But the best way to evaluate it would be to try it yourself! You can download FilmLab and try converting some images for free to see if it's worth it for your workflow.
The color fidelity in v3 looks fantastic. I havent used FilmLab but am considering it for a family archive project, can you point me at an article that shows how you suggest doing the image capture?
Thanks! We're working on a full guide to choosing equipment, which we'll have on our website later this year. For now, this video gives a good intro to the process: ua-cam.com/video/VCkX-oX80oQ/v-deo.html. In that video they're using the higher end Pro gear from Negative Supply and a Leica camera, but you can get great results with much more affordable gear. We're fans of the Negative Supply Basic line, and you can use any modern mirrorless or DSLR camera (ideally one you already own) paired with a 50-100mm equivalent macro lens.
@@filmlabapp thanks for the super quick reply - I am about to process a couple of films at home and I will trial this and if all is good, buy :-) thanks
Sorry to hear you're getting that many ads! Our UA-cam channel doesn't currently have enough subscribers to reach the level where UA-cam will allow us to turn off ads for specific videos. As soon as we unlock the ability to turn off ads we will.
Is Filmlab still a living product? Sorry to ask the question but without any news or publication since the August announcement, I need to be reassured before subscribing. Even the blog on the website hasn't been updated in over 5 months! After a few weeks of testing (2.5 and 3.0 beta), I came to the conclusion that Filmlab is the best solution for me who wants to reproduce all my old negatives with my camera, thanks to its simplicity and efficiency. But this silence is worrying and not very normal for a company that plans to develop itself. Version 3.0 was planned for the end of 2023... if it's just a delay, it's not very serious but in this case why not simply communicate? Please take these words as a friendly question not an attack. I sincerely hope that your product has a bright future and I will be happy to contribute to it.
Hi, thanks for asking and sorry for the lack of updates over the past few months! We've been making lots of progress on FilmLab 3 and we'll have a new video posted next week sharing the details. Thanks for your patience!
Interesting, it would be nice with DNG output though. And it is a bit pricy, I already pay Adobe for subscription, getting another one is out of the question. And the lifetime licens is just too expensive. I'd rather pay a fixed price for a full release version (lest say 50$) and then get the . releases for free, then pay for an upgrade when it's releasee for a 75% price (40$) .... that would make it reasnoable priced.

Best app I've tried with conversions. Good stuff, couldn't live without it now

Great work! Really looking forward to the planned developments. Very keen to be able to fine tune my collection of transparencies.

Thanks for helping test the beta, and for that nice feedback!

Thanks for that feedback! You're exactly right that we need more UA-cam content and we've been getting set up to do just that in the coming months.

scratch that note on batch editing! I am on windows and it was an issue with my server. I didnt have the drive mapped properly.
Does this only work for DSLR scans? What about scans from a Plustek scanner?
It works with raw files. So digital camera raws and if your plustek can export dng then that works too
Fantastic program, I’ve just started using it. Will a histogram be added in future releases?
Yes, a histogram tool is on our roadmap. Thanks for using FilmLab!
How much?
Can you also use filmlab desktop as a photo editor for photos I already have in a file?
I am in the process of putting together a “digital darkroom”. Since I shoot 95% b/w film and wonder if a dedicated program is necessary or beneficial?

Where is Version 3.0? This video is now 5 Months Old!
Are we going to see any advanced features in the IOS version and/or UA-cam videos showing users the "in's and out's" so to speak?
Yes, we'll be announcing a preview of FilmLab 3 for iOS soon, with a full demo video here on the channel.
This looks great. Would love to see some EXIF tools built in
Is FilmLab 3 natively compatible with Mac M1/M2/M3 Silicon? I couldn't find anything on line? Thanks
Yes it is, FilmLab 3 is a universal app so it runs natively on M-series chips. Thanks for asking!
@@filmlabapp thanks for the super quick reply - I am about to process a couple of films at home and I will trial this and if all is good, buy :-) thanks
Sorry - this is just too hard to watch because an add pops up every 30 seconds (running at 2x speed).

Does your software scan transparency film? @filmlab
