- In Summertime I work as a guide in the Arctic, but what does it mean to live here in Longyearbyen in svalbard / Spitzbergen how does it look like and what does it feel like to be here- that is what I want to Show in these Episodes.
Thank you for all the 'Life in Svalbard' videos. Our students have been using them to learn about opportunities and challenges in Cold Environments for their GCSE in Geography. They have many questions to ask mostly about Wi Fi and take away food and coffee!

Das letzte mal, als ich in Barentsburg war, waren wir zum "Kulturaustausch" geladen, also einmal gut Party machen mit den Barentsburgern :D. Werde die Polonaise durchs Hotel, den Wodka, das Essen und die ganzen russischen Lieder so schnell nicht vergessen :D. Legendärer Abend!

There are few absolutes in life, but you've just proved another: Coal-mining towns are always depressing. And always have hooch stills too, apparently!
Jost are you going in Svalbard this winter for polar night? Is there anyone who made research of moon , who recorded moon , zoomed, but to be visible moon rotation(bugs-bunny on moon) ? and time laps of non stop moon over horizont? It happens every month for a few days. Would love to see it.
hey- This year I'm not going and I don't know nobody who actually did these moon movies or time lapses ... I guess you should g go and make some;)
aww that is cute :) I'm making them but from Europa, and I did from Thailand when I saw that moon is totally diferent from there. It would be great to see how moon is rotating from Svalbard, I wish i can go there! Moon is up in Svalbard for 7 days every month.

super videos. hoffentlich werde ich auch mal spitsbergen besuchen. ist es teuer dort eine wohnung zu mieten? oder eine hütte zu kaufen? wie sieht es mit Internet aus?
+marmoto liferider Internet ist super seit dem die NASA ein Seekabel verlegt hat- generell sind die preise aber für alles relativ hoch...

Moin Jost!Ich würde gerne für 1-2 Jahre nach Svalbard,um dort in einer Mine arbeiten.Bin seid 25 Jahre im Bergbau und Tunnelbau.Habe auch schon bei Store Norske geschaut usw.aber habe da irgendwie den direkten Draht nicht gefunden.Könntest Du mir da eventuell weiter helfen?Gruss Tom
+Tomtom 09 hey Tom- soweit ich weiß ist das Store Norske Team komplett Norwegisch... ich persönlich habe nie Interesse an eine Job im Bergbau gehabt, ich kann dir daher nur die Website ans herz legen www.snsk.no/jobb-i-store-norske.145580.no.html und den Rat vllt. einfach mal anzurufen- das ist alles sehr familiär;)

sehr schönes Video. aber dort zu leben ist glaube ich auf Dauer sehr einsam. das würde mir Angst machen.
In Barentsburg wollte ich auch nicht leben... Aber herzufahren ist immer schön:)
