    So cool! Really glad to see a video about this one. I've also heard recently that MOD are working on a new pedal called the DuoX, which includes more knobs and switches, for extra control.

    This has been around for a while... it reminds me a lot of the Empress Zoia, in that you can create whatever you want inside of it. I do like the software interface. And I think if I'm not mistaken, you can add third-party LV2 plugins into it. I think it runs Linux under the hood.

    Looking at the power of the new Mod Duo X, even though it's designed as a table top device, your midi switching solution could enable guitar players to make use of that too - with a great deal more processing power and and many more knobs on the unit itself. This device and the poly digit are signs of the future. For the first time digital multi-fx will be _more_ flexible than choosing individual stompboxes rather than less. You'll no longer be limited by the specific tape-delay that a manufacturer put in their multi-fx. If someone codes a better one, you just throw that in.

    Thanks for demoing this device. Your's is the first guitar-centric one I've seen.

    By all means hook the MOD Duo up to your midi switcher but have a think about using a Kieth McMillen Soft Step 2 with it. That would allow you literally limitless midi options with it. Steve Lawson uses that combination to great effect (pun intended).

    I'd like to see a demo where some efx are demo'd besides reverb and delay. I like crazy efx; pitch shifters, choruses and flangers on extreme settings, digital distortion and aliasing, etc

    Looks good Bill .. with your popularity couldn't you get a pedal maker to create a Chords of Orion stereo signature pedal for ambient guitarists .. a Blackface Fender amp, 4 x 12 Marshall cab, delays, reverbs, chorus, pitch shift, swell ... etc .. :-)

    A dozen effects in a row is a cooler concept than it is a reality, lol. In my experience, it just sounds like indistinct mud when I try it, but I allow that I probably don't know what I'm doing. This Mod series of processors are getting really interesting to me! Who else has amp models of Alembic and Rickenbacker amps, that's crazy, lol. That's letting me know that this dev are really progressive and out of the box. I may just have to tell my landlord "later" and order one of these. I'll be responsible and "adult" later. 😁

    So, on the guitar end of it, it's not unlike having Amplitude or Bias for example, in a stand-alone pedal format. Trouble is, Amplitude and Bias are sterile and anemic, with nothing living or breathing within - at least where amp/speaker sims are concerned. But none virtual effects pass for real or are comparable to hardware devices either, as of yet.

    Hey Bill, a few questions for this device & in general:
    1.) Could you demo how the MOD device would work with your other standard devices in your pedalboard like the Volante or other Strymon gear?
    2.) Are you going to evaluate the Chase Bliss Mood and Boss SY-1 pedals? I'm curious of their ambient applications.
    Overall, this MOD pedal is making me wonder if I should hold off on getting a Kemper until I have the MOD first...

    I struggle to understand how this is anything more than a souped up Digitech RP360. Even the computer interface is similar. Cab / amp simulators and such are little use to me, my tube amp and cabinets sound fine and the DI out on the back works great for PA or studio mixing. So if I use a cab sim on a real amp and cabinet the results may vary greatly. Have you tested a SD Silver Lake reverb yet? I keep eyeing that thing with extreme interest. Great demo Bill- keep it up bro!

    • @leogermani
      @leogermani 5 років тому +1

      Hi Scott, I think there are many differences, but for me the one that is the most important is that with the MOD Duo you are not closed to Mod Devices plugins. There are many third party plugins, and their plugin store can grow and incorporate even plugins from well known plugin developers... Kind of the same difference you have between old nokia "smart phones", that had their set of apps, and modern smart phones with their App stores...
