Like the straight forward reviews. Thanks. I'm a stomach/ side sleeper and if I want a 100% natural latex mattress because it breathes better & lasts longer but I want softness also then which mattress? I'm also confused about which firmness type a stomach sleeper generally prefers. This is over $2,000.00 in mattress cost so it's important, but it's tricky to make a choice. For example, you liked the Latex For Less mattress but many reviewers from Amazon disliked it. Thanks for your input.

Hey Owen, do you recommend latex for strict side sleepers? And if so, which latex mattress would you recommend for me? I'm 5'11, 160lbs. Great review btw!! Thanks so much!!

I'm a side sleeper and have had nothing but latex mattresses since about 2003. If you possibly can, visit some showrooms in person and see REAL full latex mattresses. No matter what you read online, it's very difficult to determine what will be your personal preference for comfort. Some latex mattress brands that are a bit easier to find are Savvy Rest, OMI and Obasan. They are very pricy at retail, don't be shocked that a twin starts around $2k. But, once you know which types of latex your body prefers and you have narrowed down your likes/dislikes for firmness, you can always order online with a small manufacturer. IKEA used to make a few blended talalay mattresses but those are gone. Spindl is a bed in a box type latex mattress. SleepEZ (you see in this review) makes more customizable options. The Roma is their budget model.

It’s a great mattress for less than the other guys.

Hi, thanks for the great review. Was wondering if you could provide a personal recommendation for me if you wouldn’t mind. I’m a 5’8” male at 165lb. I guess I’m “combo” sleeper I spend about 80% on my back and stomach. I am looking for a bed that’s all foam (however I am not totally against hybrids if you have a really good one you recommend). I am looking for a mattress that will give me good support on the hips. Current mattress [8 years old] dips in quite a bit and has led to waking up in the middle of the night with lower back pains. Thank you for your help!!

If you're set on an all foam then I think something with latex could be a great choice for you as they help keep sleepers hips from sinking in and the bounce from the material will allow you to change positions easily. I think the Sleep EZ in this review is worth a short or if you're looking for something with a little more contour you could check out the Ghostbed, which combines latex and memory foam. sleepopolis.com/mattress-reviews/ghostbed-mattress-review/

Thank you for the great reviews!
I am struggling to decide between a sleep ez custom latex talalay over dunlop, and a spindle. I like spindle's return policy and exchange program, but because I'm 5'2" and weigh 200lbs with shoulder pain, back and side sleeper, and prefer a softer mattress, I'm worried spindle will be too firm. Any suggestions?

I think both are good options but if you are leaning towards the Spindle you should give it a chance. The Spindle comes in a few firmness levels, so I wouldn't worry too much about it being too firm. Spindle also offers comfort adjustments, so you can change as needed once you have it.

Would this be a good fit for a somewhat-to- significantly heavier person (than yourself) who is primarily a side (then back) sleeper?

I think it might lack the space needed to sink into the mattress in that situation. If you're looking for latex I would say check out the Idle: ua-cam.com/video/PnYlPzvin7o/v-deo.html

Does the roma mattress off gas or have a smell?

Hi, if you could give me a recommendation that would be awsome. I am 6' 170 and I change positions a lot when I sleep. I find that a mattress that you sink into is more comfortable. I was thinking maybe a lisa mattress but I wanted to get your opinion. Thank you!

I think the Leesa is worth a shot. Given that you change positions during the night you may also want something with a little bounce so check out our list of best hybrid mattress:

How do they accomplish the fire retardancy required by law?

Mattress companies in the US use fire socks that sit beneath the cover to comply with fire retardancy laws.

@@maryhardt1 Generally, yes they do. However, there are some eco conscious companies using wool or other natural materials instead of chemicals.

Help! We got a Sleep EZ four layer mattress almost a year ago, and I've tried every combination possible but still wake up in pain. I'm 5'6" 130 lbs and am currently sleeping on x-firm, firm, medium and soft, in that order from bottom to top. We've even tried putting the cover underneath the top layer of latex to give a softer feel, but I wake up in the middle of the night with sore neck, shoulders, back and hips. (Side sleeper.) I often wake up with my hands tingling even though I don't seem to be laying on them. I've tried different pillows and switched layers with some from my husband's side, but it's all about the same. I realize they can't take the mattress back at this point, but I have no idea what product to try next since I can't even tell if it's too firm or too soft. (Not sure if the problem is alignment or pressure points.) Our last mattress was coil with pillow top which I loved until it started to sag. Most people seem to love latex, but is it possible it just won't work for me? Neither of us like memory foam, but hubs says he's getting the best sleep ever. Is there a mattress that can accommodate both of us?

It sounds like you've run through about every arrangement to give it a shot. If you like latex but want some pocketed coils for support you can check out some latex hybrids like:

My personal experience told me you are probably using slat or foundation. You can try to put some common board on top of your slat system. Make sure the latex mattress is placing on top of a nearly flat surface. Don't trust the less than 3" slat can do the work. A flat surface always do the best job. (support) GOod luck!

Hey Anne, I have the same bed and had issues at first two. I’ve tried a couple things that have helped. We got the curved slats from ikea. I think the flat allowed us to sink too much maybe? The curved seems to help push against our weight of that makes since. Last, I got rid of the softer layer completely. Surprisingly i couldn’t sleep good on the softer latex. The medium has more push back and somehow felt better. I ordered a 3 inch block of super cheap plain poly foam from foamorder.com I think and put it on the bottom later, my firm latex on top, then the medium on top. I’ve loved it since. Just some ideas!
