You can repair the foam pads on damaged 8-tracks or have them repaired pretty easily. I had many of the ones you showed. Remember seeing broken ones along the road when they had been tossed out of cars?
Thanks so much - I actually did repair one but it was a pain. This is really a "sub-hobby". I love being out there on the hunt looking and finding them for really cheap. If they play, it's awesome. But I already have 6,000 albums / CD's. And 8-tracks won't be my primary listening experience. I'm reliving my youth and nostalgia and really enjoying playing them again with their mashed up track listings. Tossed out of cars? Yea - true - we did used to see them out on the streets on occasion. Best, Alan.
That Harvest tape looks like it might possibly have rodent damage. Great album of course. My favorite APP album is I Robot. Peter sure released a clunker after his classic live double elpee. My parents saw J. Geils Band in the 70s. That Harry Chapin live album has the cool bananas song. The Eagles Live album was cool since it included a great version of Life's Been Good, remember when Joe Walsh was running fir President, lol! This is my kinda music! The different colored shells are cool thing about 8-track cartridges.
Thanks so much - yea the colored cartridges are cool. My Stones Goats Head Soup 8-track is pink. J. Geils was amazing live. Actually better live than on their studio albums but they do have great live albums. Thanks. Alan

Hi Alan - never got into 8 Tracks I'm afraid. Having said that you got some great buys there, all great albums. Have quite a few Harry Chapin CD's / albums - a very sad end for him. Cya Doug
No, I don't have time. I'm not just a collector. My videos cover that. I have a backlog of around 300 albums. Hopefully eventually I get to them. They don't officially become part of my collection and go on my shelves until I listen to them multiple times. I do a video series call From Backlog To Catalog when they move from backlog to my shelves and become officially part of my collection. But the deals I find in the wild are hard to pass up.
@@jimalaimo8467 I’m sure I’ll be trying it out. Does bring us back to our youth. First cars etc. was nothing better than when I put that 8 track into my Buick regal. Gran Toriino even better.
Alan getting his 8 track jam on😂🤣 It's a shame you didn't get any Jackson 5. I see that Tito Jackson has just crossed over to that Neverland Ranch in the sky. I think the Harvest tape has roaches living inside it😂. Do they even have roaches on Long Island?
Great tapes Alan. I’m in the same boat as you. Just got back into 8 Tracks. What is the brand and model of your player? I need to find a good player. Thank you- Brian
Ah the nostalgia getting to you too. Its a Panasonic "8-Track Stereo Record Deck". Don't know the exact model number. You can see it pretty clear in the video. I found it at a local record store. They had refurbished it. It was the exact brand / model that I had growing up so was thrilled to see it and I had to buy it. I think it's gonna be hard to find a working player. I"l always out there and I never see them. Same boat as Laserdisc players. Good luck my friend.
8 tracks??? Is it a nostalgia thing?? I had an 8 track player in hated it! The sound on most are terrible and they cut off in a song to flip over to the other side I guess they’re making a comeback though!!
You totally captured 8-tracks...lol. The one's I've bought sound good through my surround sound vintage stereo system, but it certainly doesn't compare to digitally remastered CD's. The fade outs and the fade in's are horrendous. There's no packaging or real graphics which sucks. So what's the deal? Nostalgia for me. I had them growing up. The other aspect which I'm loving is that the tracks are reconfigured, so if you listen to complete albums, which is what I do, it's a totally different experience and I'm thoroughly enjoying them. Comeback? Not that I'm aware of...but who knows. But I'm 61 and thoroughly enjoying my nostalgia trip...and they actually sound ok believe it or not.
Eight track was the worst idea to ever make its way into music!! Most of them split songs into 2 different tracks, and you had to wait 10 seconds or longer for the song to continue. Piece of garbage!
Lol - from a pure musical standpoint. Yes - the splitting of songs - fade out, click, fade in - was truly horrible. But in it's time, especially for in a car in the early / mid 70's - I was in heaven having it. And from a nostalgia point, I'm so enjoying hearing them again. But yea - no reason to get into them with CD's and vinyl around today.

thats cool that Arista made their 8-tracks orange like their cassette cases. i think next step is ya gotta install an 8-track player in your car.
