The last time I seen him he was a goofy puppy being worked on the place board now he’s grown into a young boy that’s on his way to being a great hunter. He is such a beautiful dog. He stole my heart as a puppy he’s special.
He is one steady pup for sure. He is also loving what he is doing....LOL. I would have thought the chase afterwards would be bad, but thanks for clarifying that and explaining why. We get our lab back from the trainer at the end of this month. Excited to get to work more with him this spring and maybe train for shed hunting.
Ok, I heard something I had never heard before... You like to encourage the young dogs to chase the birds because when gunfire is incorporated you want them to chase? I'm a first time GSP owner and new to upland hunting. I have been telling my one-year-old to whoa and remain still until after I shoot and the bird is down. Is that wrong?
With a 6 month puppy it’s a balancing act. They want him to understand that the bird is gone. The chase helps with that. That way he’s not holding a point on a bird that’s gone. It also helps with enjoyment so you’re not burning the puppy out. It’s always hard to not to over work a really good puppy, I’ve got one a couple days younger than Hex and I have to remind myself to stop because he’ll just keep going lol.
Thanks!
Thank you🙌

Which E collar model would you recommend for multi dog field work? Thanks
We use DT collars! They have a few different models that would work great depending on your needs! Please reach out at standingstonesupply.com
Hello, what is the appropriate age to cut the tail of puppies and what is the distance
We dock at 3 days old. We leave 50% of the tail.
