The time when rpgs were actually good and fun died in the ps2 era, reaching its peak during the late snes and first ps1 era. If they do a shantae rpg now, it will surely be a fanservice-filled, "visual novel / dungeon crawler mix" piece of garbage, like the Neptunia series and all similar shit.

One of the most important things to me is the removal of an overworld map, sometimes being replaced by a "select destination from a list and go there directly". It removes all sense of exploration and immersion into a full world. Nothing attracts me more on an rpg than traversing its overworld, first walking, then getting other vehicles such as ships, and in the end getting the typical airship. And the snes and ps1 where the absolute kings when it comes to having that kind of rpgs in their catalogues. PS2 also had a few (Tales of the Abyss, for instance). Currently, there's a tendency nowadays to fill current games with insufferable moe characters and are based in dungeon crawling more than the story ridden games I enjoyed in snes / ps1, etc. One could say that I'm kind of "burn-out" with rpgs, but every time a new snes game gets translated and I play it, I find I enjoy them much more than practically any recent rpg. Few recent games really make me want to play them. The only one that has ctched my attention lately is Dragon Quest XI. I still haven't played it, I'm dying to play its 2D mode someday.

New forms so far include the Dash Newt, which is basically the upgraded Monkey form redesigned to be a lizard, and the Gastro Drill, which is a shelled squid that can tunnel through dirt. And these forms don't need dances to be activated. Also, despite the obvious similarities, I don't think Fillin the Blank is actually Rottytops.
Nice but so much to fix, the dialogue boxes are bad, specially the characters, they look weird with that cut, they should add a bar or something, there's a delay in the parallax, and it's just not as good as pirate curse, which means they are yet to top themselves, that game was a masterpiece, maybe one day...
Thank god her transformations are now just extensions of her moveset. It used to break the pace of the games for me UPDATE: I guess the transformations are returning but it seems like they act more like solving puzzles in levels a la making platforms appear, etc.
I called it it's first the seven sirens because they want revenge on the half genies then harmony wanted to prove to anyone about that half genies should rule world together so then harmony can stab them in the back and become all powerful herself

Ok... something random to point out: SPOILER ALERT That scene where the sub is imploding, for SOME REASON, reminds me of halo wars 1. The scene where Sergeant Forge and his men get ambushed by elites with needlers. If you were playing the demo version of the game, that cut scene is where you would get cut off from the rest of the game. This cutscene shown here reminds me SO much about that, partly due to the fact that Shantae know's something is going to go wrong, and then the sub starts imploding. In Halo Wars 1, Sergeant Forge knew something could happen should Anders touch something. What happens? They get ambushed. Once again, don't ask me why it makes me think of that. Just does.
Way forward has a set pattern that allows them to make games without wasting resources. Pirates Curse reused and updated art from Risky Revenge and 7 Sirens reuses and updates art from Half Genie Hero. Its economical.
Platinum Mad I understand that, however with the large following Shantae has earned; taking a little risk by making graphical upgrades and small combat changes that transforms the series would help Shantae reach a wider audience and make new fans. Look at games like Luigi’s mansion. The recent release was the same core game with a new story, new mansion, with some serious graphical up grades, and minor mechanic changes that have helped to keep the series fun and bring new players to the table. Reusing data to save money is fine but if you are only making new stories and minor changes it should be released as dlc. But that is my opinion. Cheap releases and short sighted business practices hurt companies in the long run because they lose the support of the fans.

Looking at this gameplay, it sort of just looks like this game is simply a combination of Pirates Curse and Half-Genie Hero.
Plus the first with the 8 bit music

This is just my guessing but maybe the reason why shantae wasn't in smash bros ultimate is because of this game coming out soon.
Actually, that would make her chances for inclusion go up, not down. With a new game coming out getting people excited to buy both the character AND the new game would be the smartest move they could do.
