As an Indian, I believe we should not integrate with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has always been an independent state even during the vedic times and the time of the Ramayana and Mahabharata! This is their problem and they need to deal with it.

Many of you may not know but same as China, Adani also took port in Sri Lanka for 99 years contract.
But adani cant put the hull of indian navy ships and spy ships. But china can
It's only a container terminal port, not for military uses.

@@Sunny-lw6fw Hambantota is also a commercial port, not a military one. All ships docking at Hambantota should grant permission from the SLPA and MOD even if the port is leased by China for 99 years. That how we delayed that spy ship or whatever you call it from docking at Hambantota. Remember that Hambantota will be fully Sri Lankan after 2112.
Also Adani can dock Indian warships at Colombo Port after getting permission from the MOD and the SLPA.
India has no Guts to Change the Border... We can see History of Indian War after 1947... We got Bangladesh, We got Lahore, we got Sri Lanka too... But we didn't changed 1 inch also... Leave it even 1 inch from POK is not taken.... We have great politicians.....
1971 was the right time to take back pok...We had almost 20+ yrs security treaty with USSR still we missed the bus...

I loved your sentence that the border will be changing. But the question is, as a person, a society or as a nation, what the narratives should someone adopt. Be united and actively trying to expand, or be united and be aware or like If you want a piece, you can take it.

There is no public opinion in favour of integration of Sri Lanka and India. Since time immemorial Sri Lanka has been an independent state with unique language and culture.
You'll lose that argument in any informed discussion. You probably meant Sinhala culture (as you used singular "language" without including Tamil), but even then, Sinhala culture is no more unique than dozens of distinct cultures of India such as Gujrati, Assamese, Bengali, Telugu, Malayali, Marathi, Kashmiri, Bhutia, Oriya and others.. which have had centuries/millenia of independent development in language, script, dress, food, music from each other.
It's funny you use terms like "time immemorial" when talking in the context of India.. because Tamil culture is centuries older, maybe millenia older than Sinhala culture. But Sinhala national identity has been foisted on the false premise of Sinhalas being superior to Tamils, so some Sinhalas may lack the maturity to see their culture's place as "similar to 50 other cultures" in the Indian subcontinent.. They've been fed a diet of false ethnic "uniqueness" and superiority, esp. versus the Tamils.

No sane Indian leader or opinion maker has ever proposed an integration with India as he knows the dynamics in this region. What the Indians have always advocated is for an economic integration which serves both interests but a geographical merger has never been on the cards.
Sinhala language is a direct product of India's Sanskrit language...Most Sri Lankan names are Sanskrit words..The word Sinhala comes directly from Sanskrit word Simha meaning lion..Sinhalese script comes directly from Indian Brahmi script..Sinhalese people are descendant of eastern Indians especially Bengali people...Prince Vijay who in a way founded Sri Lanka was an Indian..If Sinhalese are rational they will believe it...It would be very good them..They grow significantly in economy , military , Infrastructure,geopolitical power etc.

@@sdarbha4270 Sri Lankan Tamil politics from Chelvanayagam onwards to the militant movements have also never though of integration with India as a solution. So it is far more prudent for Chavda to curb fantasies in order to maintain excellent neighbourly relation which we are maintaining now 🇮🇳 ❤ 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka was never part of India. Cholas ruled the county in 10th century. Cholas lost the battle and they were expelled restoring Sinhalese sovereignty. Even during ancient times it was never considered part of India. Calling for integration into India is silly at best. India’s diplomatic mess up caused Sri Lanka fall into Chinese hands. If anything India needs to build back the relationship to protect itself from Chinese in their backyard. In this crisis India has done an admirable job in helping Sri Lanka. India does not have financial capability to bail Sri Lanka out completely.
Also, when IMF provides loans it insists on not providing subsides and increasing the taxes. Local population that is used for these the subsidies and low taxation do not like it. But again what do you expect a lender to do. Unfortunately small nations struggle when their leaders mess up with bad policies.
Right now China owns big piece of Sri Lanka and India too. So if you are a Sri Lankan you would think India and China as imperial powers. Sad these are the facts.

Rama had to construct a bridge to go to Sri Lanka. That means even in Treta Yuga time people lived in Lanka and there were no direct people to people connection and they had their own civilization.
In Sundara kanda of Ramayana. Hanuman describes Sri Lanka and its people. Yes there was some cultural exchange between the countries.
As per Sarvarkar Independent India of his dreams was one that was not only “united”, but also a “Unitarian nation” - from Kashmir to Rameshwaram, from Sindh to Assam. (Hindu Rashtra Darshan, Savarkar) - No Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka economic crisis can be attributed mainly to the Rajapaksa family and their mismanagement of finances.

the tamils in northeast sri lanka ( tamilealam) loved India and almost or pretty much looked upon India as a motherland. After ( and before) british left if you look at common tamil household you will see leaders like Mohandas Gandhi, Netaji, bagat singh, nehru etc. This only changed when India used tamils to gain diplomatic powers in sri lanka. Using the tamil ethnic issue they signed the 13th amendment. This gave India some security and power, eg trincomale oil tank farm. They used the tamil problem to gain power but never even came an inch to getting tamils a legitimate political solution. This was proven when they let Thileepan die in a hunger strike. Thileepan asked for basic rights of tamils to restored by IPKF and went on hunger strike. He died in 11 days. The sinhalese however have always hated India. They hate India more than they hate Tamils. This is why pre war they were pro west, and post war they were pro china. Never pro India. India backstabbed tamils and they are paying the price for it today.
Its the Congress government that backstabbed lankan tamils and messed it up, both mother indira and son rajiv.
What price are we paying?

And there never has been an Akhand Bharat. Even if you talk of history, there were more divisions than now. There were numerous princely states all around the world and all of them were sovereign. A princely state of Assam didn't even know the existence of a tamil state in the southern India. And Indian historians are boasting their imaginative narrative of Akhand Bharat. • We kept Queen Elizabeth I of Ceylon as our head of state until 1971 because Britain would have given us military aids whenever India invades us.
