- DJS .15 build pictures and video.
This is a vintage glow racing engine designed by John Shannon. I am very grateful for Mr. Shannon for all the help and advice I have been given. Johnny has designed these engines back in the 70’s and I was fortunate enough to be given a change to build one now in co-operation with Johnny.
-The case castings vere provided by Johnny and that included a almost completely machined case. I had to just finish the backplate surface and make the cooling fins and head bolt holes.
Super Tigre X15 crankshaft was used aswell as ST rotor, conrod and carburetor. I did machine the front and backplate assemblies and made the cylinder and piston assy. This one is steel liner and CI piston. Hopefully in the future I would be able to make an ABC set aswell.
The engine is timed for open face operation for ease of useability and so that the fits and finishes would not be too critical.
WIB C4 ballbearings were used
The performance after proper breaking in period is as expected, tuning the APC 7x3 at 23000rpms for example.
Sacré motoriste sûrement un modeliste du vol circulaire ....!!! Apparemment pointeau. super tigre ...et valve arrière acier similaire a O.P.S...!
Bravo
Thanks - very nice motor.
Супер, здорово!!! Удачи.
Jälleen yksi mestariteos! Well done, what an addition it would be to a fittingly vintage model
Fantastic job! That's a real work of art. Seems to run just as it should.
Wow, simply a fantastic engine!! Chapeau!!!
A wonderful job! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Olli!! Master@ work...Fantastic mate!!!!! You get really so far.in such a short time!! My deep respect buddy!!!! Very wel done!!!! 24K is awesome!!! Whats next_..? :-)
Looks like an Rossi RI RE 15. I have one New in the original Box with original telescopic Pipe, Glow Head and wooden Rossi Prop 6x8
@@giannigalati8667 very nice! Yes the original DJS is from the exact same era. I find the RE Rossi is a pretty rare as most of the examples seem to be FI type.

Bellisimo !
is it possible to have the drawings and castings?

@@giannigalati8667 found it! Very nice 👌🏼 ua-cam.com/video/S28vyn97JJ0/v-deo.htmlsi=V7-OzGqoHWjLHSz5
Wonderful work, but isn't the timing set up for a pipe? Making a pipe will be another challenge!
Thanks Ken! We did adjust the timing for open face operation. Exchaust is 160 degree open. Inlet timing is around 35 abdc open and close 50 atdc. Transfer is 130 degrees open.
Excellent job Olli. Another extra 10 degrees for both the exhaust and the transfer (170 and 140 degrees respectively) and a tuned pipe the little monster would scream at 30k rpm! :-)
Very good work! 24000 rpm but what is the propeller dimension of the TAIPAN ?
@@francocolla3626 In the last bit it was a cut down apc pylon prop. The engine does 23000rpm on a standard apc 7x3 which seems to be quite optimal for this liner by my gut feel.
