    There needs to be a button you hit for instant chase. Seems weird to have to hit auto and then hit it again to exit chase unless I’m missing something.

    Thanks for the help of the DMX controller. I was looking for a controller to operate a couple lights and found the Obey 70, would be my choice due to the different light shows I can have. It also appears to be better than having a software on the laptop in which would be confusion trying to mix songs and work with lights. And also it seems much easier to use due to lack of wifi in many areas.

    Hi chauvet, I have a Obey 70 controller. And It looks like i cant do a simple fade when i want to switch/transistion to a different scene. I was wondering if the Chauvet Stage Designer 50 would allow me to do that? Just wondering what the next best controller I can use that would allow me to softly transistion between scenes whenever i click a new scene. Thank you!! I have 4 different banks set up and want to just fade between them once i set up the scenes.

    Two Questions
    1. Why does the Obey 4 have sound sensitivity, but the Obey 70 does not?
    2. On my obey 70, I have a strobe button. Which I assume goes in conjunction with the strobe 1/4 output on the back of the controller. But I was not able to find any chauvet strobes that would be compatible here. What strobes can I use here?
    Thanks

      Adam, thanks for reaching out. Here is a link to a direct product comparison between the Obey 4 and the Obey 70 controllers. There is however sound sensitivity included in the Obey 70 controller. The button is called "music / bank copy" you can check out more information here : www.chauvetdj.com/product-comparison/?compare=9493.9461&fcat=2289. As far as the strobe button for the Obey 70 is concerned, this port is no longer used. We no longer carry any strobes that are compatible with this connector on the Obey 70 controller.

      Pierre, we looked up this machine you mentioned and unfortunately it does not have DMX capability.

    Hey guys, I've been using an Obey 70 for years and it's finally started to let me down after being on the road for 6 years, I have a brand new Obey 70, but it's not programmed, and I wanted to know if there's any way to transfer the settings from the old one to the new one? Thanks.

    • @CHAUVETDJ
      @CHAUVETDJ  5 років тому +1

      Unfortunately, there is currently no way to transfer the settings from your old unit to your new controller.

      Hey guys, me again. Have the products changed at all from a few years ago? The new Obey doesn't react the same way as my old one would, for example. I use it in a way where I have my basic 8 scenes and then I will select a fixture like a moving head, do an auto program, and then when I want that to stop and go back to its normal setting (color+position) for the scene, I would just de-select the fixture and it would return to its normal position for that scene, but with this new one it doesn't, it just keeps auto programming unless I manually shut it off, it won't go back to the normal setting unless the color and tilt/pan are both put to 0 of 255. And I've tried this and its consistent across all fixtures, so I know it's not just those particular lights. Is this a newer feature as the obey line has evolved, or is it possible that there's something wrong with this particular unit? I know that the book manual says Rev. 6 on the bottom and the book for my old light was Rev. 5, is that a newer generation of controller or is that solely the revision number for the manual? Thanks.

    How do you record x/y into scenes/chases not just RGB? (Obey 70)

    Just picked the Obey 70 up, and I have a question. At 6:39 here in the vid, you say the Obey 70 controls 12 fixtures, 32 channels each and 384 channels of control total. On the back of the unit itself, it's saying 12 fixtures, 16 channels per fixture and 192 channels. Nowhere in the instruction manual does it talk about or explain this, this video here is the most information I've gotten so far and it's contradicting the manual.
    Speaking of the manual, it really doesn't explain a whole lot of what every button does. For instance, the Page Select button. Is this supposed to change the operation of the faders to a secondary set of channels? Say from Channel 1 to 15, Channel 2 to 16, and so on?
    I'm asking because I have quite a few fixtures hooked up to this and a couple have 18 and 28 channels of control. Your Chauvet DJ Swarm Wash FX and Wash FX 2 specifically. I'd like to be able to operate these in full channel modes, as in the 2 and 8 channel modes the functions are really pretty limited.
    Sure hoping you respond and point me to some good setup videos like you mentioned in the beginning of this video. Pretty new at all this, first DMX controller so any advice is appreciated. I have managed to get this all hooked up and all the lights wired up, pretty amazed so far at how great it can control my Scorpion lasers, I have the Bar RG, 2 Storm FX RGBs and a Scorpion Dual in the mix, and I'm seeing patterns now that I can bring out with the controller that simply weren';t there without. The Scorpion Bar RG in particular, this thing REALLY came alive.

      I sit here 2 hours later, having long ago figured my original questions out and completely transfixed with what I can do with this control. New things are popping up all the time, for instance, the intro to your video just caused more effects to turn on somehow, overlayed over the top of one of the scenes I had programmed.
      I can however see some limitations, it's going to be difficult to get every effect I'd like going at the same time due to the addressing of one light's effect overlapping another's,. Adjusting one causes a ripple effect with others if you have a lot of fixtures turned on while programming a scene.
      This is why I bought SoundSwitch though... I have yet to hook this up, still working on getting a good DJ controller so I can use Serato. Great product so far though, impressed with the build quality even though playing with my joystick to adjust to a specific DMX channel is rather difficult.

      Never mind again! To get every effect going I want it's as simple as adjusting one light the way I want, saving the scene, then going back in and programming more lights on top of that and saving the changes to the same scene. This thing is awesome, it has my lasers pumping out things I just haven't seen in auto or sound active mode. Amazing upgrade!

    Geoff I think this old technology. The future is wifi . and control by things like ADJ DMX bridge/ show express . Preferably control from app on ipad/ android it would be simple no cables less little hassle easier to see what controls what. The lighting companies have been very slow with this technology opting for infra red systems which are very limited. All new lights should have internal wi-fi so they can allow this transition to happen.

    • @CHAUVETDJ
      @CHAUVETDJ  7 років тому +2

      This video is ment for the many lighting designers who aren't using wireless DMX control with the exception of the Obey 40 D-Fi or software based controllers. Showxpress is another great option and tool used by many and we don't discourage using it, this video topic just wasn't about it.
      As far as all lights coming with internal wireless DMX, that would drive the price up on all fixtures and hurt the LD's who don't need this feature but still want to buy an amazing product. This is why we offer such a wide range of products such as our SlimPARs all the way to our Freedoms (which do have the D-Fi built in).

    WHY OH WHY does no one talk about the Chase options on these bloody things !
    At the end of the day, some of us Entertainers are too busy to worry about programming & just want to get on with the SHOW with some PRESET Automatic built in programs we can just dial in & go !!!
    Can these things DO IT OR NOT ... That's what I'd like to know ... End of rant

    These style of controllers should have been discontinued already. I used them and its not the easiest thing in the world to learn. You literally have to have a manual next to you to know what each fader does. I think you guys should maybe look into a midi controller for software solutions. Thats combine the best of both worlds. Software is the way to go. These are a dying breed.
