He needs to win some more, but the parallels are there. He’s a white guy who doesn’t appear to have special qualities for the NBA, he’s slower, ball handling isn’t great, doesn’t jump that high, except he does things better than all these guys who do, he scores, rebounds, is a phenomenal passing big, can shoot, score down low, i’m sure he has defensive stats as well. To me he’s a mix of Bird and Duncan, two guys who were disrespected when they did great things bc they weren’t loud or flashy, they didn’t dunk over guys or run over guys, at least that wasn’t their go to move. They fundamentally did things better than most of the league. And it’s no shock it’s Shaq and Perkins who were loudest about Jokic bc they were as big as they were good, and that’s a compliment but it’s also saying their size helped make them. And in Shaq’s case that almost certainly hurt him when a guy like Nash won MVP who had to work for every bit of success he had. But in the end it’s just that Shaq is a salty hating ass hater. He did it to Duncan, Jokic, he does the same to Wemby, who literally has almost endless potential which was obvious watching him and I look forward to all of Shaqs lame excuses why he’s not as good as Shaq. With Shaq you either get the fun loving hilarious big man who has great insight on things or feeling insecure Shaq and then he’s the total opposite and hates on ppl and looks like a buffoon. And Perkins wouldn’t even be relevant if he wasn’t on tv.

Its interesting how everything in life comes out with time. Shaq was a beast and beloved by most humans due to his silliness and endearing commercials. Like a big teddy bear who could destroy on the court and loved life. But due to his lifestyle he didn’t achieve full potential. And everytime this gets brought up, whether directly (charles barkley: “you shouldve won more”) or indirectly (a modern big threatening his legacy) he lashes out (“how many rings you got chuck?! I got four!”). And all it is doing is hurting his legacy. Like you said he could be using his mistake as a teaching point and i f he did that he would be perceived as beloved, not bitter. He needed a top 5 player and fellow mvp candidate to get him over the hump. Jokic is solo carrying his team with zero all star help. I agree so much with the Magic Shaq thing, his size carried him with the Lakers and that wasn’t the case with the Magic. But with the Magic, Robinson out played him early, Olajuwon outplayed him, Bryant Reeves used to kill him which he admits. And so he got bigger and bigger and you couldn’t touch him or it was a foul and he got away with running dudes over. Then when Duncan and Dirk had success, he ran them down and said they weren’t centers. He used to dump on Dwight Howard, he dumps on Jokic, he’s already dumping on Wemby. I'll never understand the athleticism "argument." Apart from the fact that you need a certain level of athleticism in any sport, what does it matter? What matters is how effective you are and how you contribute to the success of your team. You will only be remembered and respected for being athletic and/or entertaining as a sidenote, if at all.

Shaq can complain and say he was robbed of MVP's. Cuz he was without a doubt. So was MJ cuz of voter fatigue. But nobody, and I mean NOBODY! Was robbed more than Kobe. What did he get? 1 MVP I believe? How in the hell does that even happen?
Ya know why we never really heard Kobe whine about it though? Cuz he was about winning. The ultimate goal at hand. And I think Joker has the same mentality in that aspect. MVP's are great. But did we win it all? Did I do my job ( that is the job for those who don't know )
If SGA would've won it ( would've deserved it being a gaurd ) I really doubt Joker would've cared.
U can make the case for either of them. What SGA did this yr was impressive without a doubt. But he also has a better supporting cast. The Nuggets are a lottery team at best without Jokic. And that's me being kind.
OKC without SGA are a bit better without him.
Me personally I would've voted SGA. With how well he shot from the field as a gaurd is hard to do. It takes less skill to pass the ball and get an assist than it does to make a shot.
But u can make the argument for either. I'm not disappointed in Joker getting it. I'm just saying u can make a point for either of them

    • @TheRealMindCrime

I agree though. Kobe was the most robbed cuz he only won 1. It's hard with just 1 award per year cuz like you said MJ deserved it 10 years straight but they can't give it to him every year.

@@TheRealMindCrime I think that's why MJ and Kobe were so obsessed with winning. It's the only thing they can't dispute. There's only 1 winner. So those rings meant everything
