Yes, this one's insane There's all sorts of videos animated in a silly way, like, select an image on photoshop, and record that But with this, you can use the pen tool to animate it on resolve and save a bunch of time, and probs space
I've wondered how so many youtubers I watched growing up did edits that seemed to be like mouse movements, but could never find out how they did it. This video completely answered that question. Thanks so much Patrick, great video!
Cool! I can see this being really useful if you need to quickly blur someone's face or an object from a shot, but don't want to track anything. Just hit play and follow the movement with the mouse, animating the mask.
Thank you so much. This makes animating basic graphics so much easier. You don't have to learn about nodes and key frames, you just animate it by hand!
When I was an AE user I always wanted to know a way to manually animate in real time. Now that I made the switch I'm glad Fusion does have this function! Thanks :D
Man this was so great to watch and try out. Used this in a recent project, and it was fun to finally learn how my favourite videos used cursor moment type animation. Thanks a ton
Holy Toledo, goof narrative animation is part of what I'm looking to do. This is perfect! So easy to use too, oh my goodness. just click and "act" the scene out. Nice~.
I like using the pen with a stylus (adoyy) as a way to mask or reveal an intricate design or typography. It feels more organic and flowing to trace reveal calligraphy than just moving a blurred mask away.
Purfect! I was looking for something just like this. However, Finzar still has not recreated all his Premiere Pro videos for DaVinci Resolve yet. Thank you! 🙃
Very cool, thanks for the tip. What a time saver! I can see this being useful for playing with timing too. Quickly mocking up (hilarious :P) scenes like you did and then using that to inform dialogue. Like storyboarding.
This is a great tutorial, thank you! Oddly enough, when I do the text node the tools bar disappear, but for images they are available. It's a mystery. Still, this is so useful, thanks a lot.
Always wondered what that was for but never really bothered testing it out. I think the most "useful" scenario for this would be if you were trying to do some sort of fake stop motion, as it would make the movement look a bit more natural than going keyframe by keyframe. Like you mentioned, it really depends on the style one is going for.
Hey Man, I use free version of Resolve & Beta 5 & Beta 6 has some sort of Problem with the audio of Files you put in the Timeline. The Moment you drop a Clip in the timeline, The Audio of the File that shows in the Green Box does not show up or produce any sound for few frames. In the Beta 3 Version it's all good, but what's happening with the newer versions, I don't know. Have you seen some like that ???
Yes please explain the work around, theres quite a few things id like to try this on but i cant figure out how to make it work on anything but the merge node. Maybe linking one slider to the merge nodes slider so they move at the same time?
I have a video of a crow. I want to create a polygon mask of the crow in each frame of the video and create an alpha output. My problem is that the mask does not remain the same but changes as I proceed along to other frames. How do I freeze each frame to remain as I have drawn it? Thank you.
Didn’t know about the pen tool to animate. Actually makes it so much easier to do basic silly animations like that. Thanks for the tip!

They actually recorded the Photoshop screen.

Patrick, your help has assisted so many. Thank you so much for making these videos. Your work is genuinely appreciated.

I'm new to Resolve and I've been wondering if it's possible to automate moves and this is perfect. I can't believe it's so simple. Great video!!
Love this! It's like when you want to recreate that sockpuppet musical feel but in digital format.
totally. I would love to mess around with it using a pen for input sometime
Holy Toledo, goof narrative animation is part of what I'm looking to do. This is perfect! So easy to use too, oh my goodness. just click and "act" the scene out. Nice~.

that's so simple, yet SO EFFECTIVE. Thank you so much!!!
This would be extremely useful for animating mouse cursors so you can cature that natural movement. Great video I learnt something new!
Not seen this before, thank you for such an easy to follow tip and.
i've been looking for how to do this for too long. thank you so much
Well the feature was probably designed to use it with a graphic tablet to draw the Paths
I can definitely see using this just to keep things interesting.
This is new to me and quite fun to use. Thank you for sharing.
I hope you use the Matt Berry audio for “FATHER!!!!”

Great patrick, I want you as a screenwriter in my next movie🤣🤣🤣
Love this so much, thank you for sharing!
Super useful! Thanks!
Dang, mind blown
Very cool, thanks for the tip. What a time saver! I can see this being useful for playing with timing too. Quickly mocking up (hilarious :P) scenes like you did and then using that to inform dialogue. Like storyboarding.
Woow thank youuuuuu unvaluable
What camera do you use? Other than you being so majestic, the camera has such a high quality!
hey can I ask you which camera you're using? awesome picture quality!
Super cool....thanks
that's very useful

I LOVE YOU
Hey Patrick do more vids about animation please, this one is awesome
I've always wanted a way to animate exactly like this
Thank you so much!!!
The *SILLIEST way to animate anything in Davinci Resolve
Thank you!
This is a great tutorial, thank you! Oddly enough, when I do the text node the tools bar disappear, but for images they are available. It's a mystery. Still, this is so useful, thanks a lot.
Super video thanks. Is there a way to constrain movement to x or y only?
thank YOU.
wow thank you !
Awesome! How can you copy the exact movement of the UA-cam logo to the text? I believe should be a way
This could actually be good for certain types of meme videos.
Wow thats handy, thanks.
And what do you use to screen capture with the camera?
Always wondered what that was for but never really bothered testing it out. I think the most "useful" scenario for this would be if you were trying to do some sort of fake stop motion, as it would make the movement look a bit more natural than going keyframe by keyframe. Like you mentioned, it really depends on the style one is going for.
Pretty cool. Can I save something like this to use over and over?
faster than flash ⚡⚡⚡
I’ve always wondered, why something like this isn’t possible… Well. It is 😁🎉
man that was incredibly sketchy... but very useful! Thanks!
Thank you
thats what i talking about!
Cool. Is there a way to simplify and smoothen this motion? Like Smoother in After Effects? (So not only smooth keyframes but less of them)
this same method can be done in the edit tab i think

Awesome tip, does it only work on the merge node? I'd like to do this with other noes but i cant get the top controls to shoe up.
You can do it on any value that creates a path, but there might be a little workaround... Might be worth a follow-up video!
Yes please explain the work around, theres quite a few things id like to try this on but i cant figure out how to make it work on anything but the merge node. Maybe linking one slider to the merge nodes slider so they move at the same time?

is there a way, i can hear the audio from the timeline, to sync it up?
This is great! Is there any way to do this stuff in the edit tab?
Is there a way to play back the video at half speed?
That was fun xD
