Didn’t know about the pen tool to animate. Actually makes it so much easier to do basic silly animations like that. Thanks for the tip!
Yes, this one's insane
There's all sorts of videos animated in a silly way, like, select an image on photoshop, and record that
But with this, you can use the pen tool to animate it on resolve and save a bunch of time, and probs space
Pause
I've wondered how so many youtubers I watched growing up did edits that seemed to be like mouse movements, but could never find out how they did it. This video completely answered that question. Thanks so much Patrick, great video!
They actually recorded the Photoshop screen.
Cool! I can see this being really useful if you need to quickly blur someone's face or an object from a shot, but don't want to track anything. Just hit play and follow the movement with the mouse, animating the mask.
Patrick, your help has assisted so many. Thank you so much for making these videos. Your work is genuinely appreciated.
Thank you so much. This makes animating basic graphics so much easier. You don't have to learn about nodes and key frames, you just animate it by hand!
This is sick. Definitely gonna implement it to the tool kit.
Dude, you ROCK!!!! Please don't ever stop making these videos!!!Thanks you so much!!!
When I was an AE user I always wanted to know a way to manually animate in real time.
Now that I made the switch I'm glad Fusion does have this function! Thanks :D
Man this was so great to watch and try out. Used this in a recent project, and it was fun to finally learn how my favourite videos used cursor moment type animation. Thanks a ton
Thank you SOOO MUCH!! I was searching for EXACTLY this option of animating for over an hour now :'D Biiiiggg thanks to you!
🤘🤘🤘 so happy I could help
Thank goodness I found this video again! I forgot how to do this and love this method. Thank you!
Thanks for all the good videos Patrik.
I just got started with Davinci today and your videos have been very helpful.
I managed to get two videos done!
This is new to me and quite fun to use. Thank you for sharing.
This is gonna help me so much Tysm
I love this and definitely going to use this! Thanks!
That's so neat!
This is dope definitely using this
I find this technique works really well with the size and angle parameters.
that's so simple, yet SO EFFECTIVE. Thank you so much!!!
Woow thank youuuuuu unvaluable
Thanks man, I didn't know about this tool and would be perfect for a beginner transitions on overlays
I'm new to Resolve and I've been wondering if it's possible to automate moves and this is perfect. I can't believe it's so simple. Great video!!
I think this is amazing.
Thank you. This is what I've been looking for.
Thank you for this hack 😁
Love this so much, thank you for sharing!

Thankyou i cant express my emotions soo just Thankyou!!!
i've been looking for how to do this for too long. thank you so much
Not seen this before, thank you for such an easy to follow tip and.
Super cool....thanks
thanks man!!!! I never knew that pen tool was ever a thing.
Thanks a lot! This might come in super useful
Love this! It's like when you want to recreate that sockpuppet musical feel but in digital format.
totally. I would love to mess around with it using a pen for input sometime
Dang, mind blown
fun and powerful technique, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!!!

Hola.
Interesante , fácil y nada pesado para mi máquina.
Saludos.
Thank you for this, this could be really useful.
Oh man this is pretty dang cool!
Wow Hopper from Stranger Things doing Davinci tuts!! Awesome!!
I can definitely see using this just to keep things interesting.
wow....finally what i desired....was already there!!
I hope you use the Matt Berry audio for “FATHER!!!!”
Super useful! Thanks!
This is actually Fun XD
I did not know that was there. Already plan on using that thank you sir.
Oh man... 😀 This is gold... Thanks for sharing...
uau this is super awesome, you just enabled me to make my first video in youtube, thank you, sir.
wow thank you !
Thank you for this! I was searching a way for like a human like animation with the mouse for editing
Thank you
Holy Toledo, goof narrative animation is part of what I'm looking to do. This is perfect! So easy to use too, oh my goodness. just click and "act" the scene out. Nice~.
I like using the pen with a stylus (adoyy) as a way to mask or reveal an intricate design or typography. It feels more organic and flowing to trace reveal calligraphy than just moving a blurred mask away.
Well the feature was probably designed to use it with a graphic tablet to draw the Paths
I LOVE YOU
that's very useful
Very cool, thanks for the tip. What a time saver! I can see this being useful for playing with timing too. Quickly mocking up (hilarious :P) scenes like you did and then using that to inform dialogue. Like storyboarding.
thank you so much for this, actually massive tip
Thanks for watching!
Super video thanks. Is there a way to constrain movement to x or y only?
I've always wanted a way to animate exactly like this
Absolutely love this. Will be utilizing the crap out of it 🤣
Oooohh I'm gonna abuse this so much.
Hey Patrick do more vids about animation please, this one is awesome
2:03
i was in panic
the pen icon wasnt in my screen 0.0
now i can stop motion with precision !
thank you so much ^^
What camera do you use? Other than you being so majestic, the camera has such a high quality!
Wow thats handy, thanks.
And what do you use to screen capture with the camera?
Always wondered what that was for but never really bothered testing it out. I think the most "useful" scenario for this would be if you were trying to do some sort of fake stop motion, as it would make the movement look a bit more natural than going keyframe by keyframe. Like you mentioned, it really depends on the style one is going for.
Purfect! I was looking for something just like this. However, Finzar still has not recreated all his Premiere Pro videos for DaVinci Resolve yet. Thank you! 🙃
hey can I ask you which camera you're using? awesome picture quality!
This is a great tutorial, thank you! Oddly enough, when I do the text node the tools bar disappear, but for images they are available. It's a mystery. Still, this is so useful, thanks a lot.
Pretty cool. Can I save something like this to use over and over?
Cool. Is there a way to simplify and smoothen this motion? Like Smoother in After Effects? (So not only smooth keyframes but less of them)
This is great! Is there any way to do this stuff in the edit tab?
That was fun xD
Awesome! How can you copy the exact movement of the UA-cam logo to the text? I believe should be a way
Great patrick, I want you as a screenwriter in my next movie🤣🤣🤣
Hi, could anyone tell me if something similar to this cold be done in premier pro? Thank you!!!
This would be very easy with a tablet and pen, with a practice hand it could be another and more exact, and it doesn't clog up space in the node screen either!
I remember how long it took me to stimulate a static image that is jumping (pausing briefly in the middle), so many keyframes.
More it can flow naturally without manualoy adjusting the path and i can still use grid warp and rotate, so the character or object will appear to be landing and leaning forward for the next jump
Could also control a more smooth and flowing effect for many 3d effects using this on the final merge after the render node, or perhaps there's a way to apply it to particle effects for a less robotic version of what DR generates.
I wonder if there a way to combine this with a camera node... Combined with setting a target, this could be very neat!
Hey Man, I use free version of Resolve & Beta 5 & Beta 6 has some sort of Problem with the audio of Files you put in the Timeline. The Moment you drop a Clip in the timeline, The Audio of the File that shows in the Green Box does not show up or produce any sound for few frames. In the Beta 3 Version it's all good, but what's happening with the newer versions, I don't know. Have you seen some like that ???
great video your way of teaching is to look up to
I have a video of a crow. I want to create a polygon mask of the crow in each frame of the video and create an alpha output. My problem is that the mask does not remain the same but changes as I proceed along to other frames. How do I freeze each frame to remain as I have drawn it? Thank you.
is there a way, i can hear the audio from the timeline, to sync it up?
I’ve always wondered, why something like this isn’t possible… Well. It is 😁🎉
thats what i talking about!
man that was incredibly sketchy... but very useful! Thanks!
Hey! Is it possible to do this on top of a video as background (let's say subscribe button on top of the UA-cam video)??
I was wondering what computer you have. Because my computer is lagging so hard lmao
how do get audio to plaay while you do this?
Awesome tip, does it only work on the merge node? I'd like to do this with other noes but i cant get the top controls to shoe up.
You can do it on any value that creates a path, but there might be a little workaround... Might be worth a follow-up video!
Yes please explain the work around, theres quite a few things id like to try this on but i cant figure out how to make it work on anything but the merge node. Maybe linking one slider to the merge nodes slider so they move at the same time?
this same method can be done in the edit tab i think
how do you dod it with rotationg
This could actually be good for certain types of meme videos.
