@Pandora main issue is clunky controls. It didn't feel fun to play But like it also felt super easy even though I probably played too little of it? I dunno I wanted to get frustrated right out the gate... technically I did just not the way I wanted
@@Yaksoup98 Easy? first few run yes but after unlock thing like new stage, difficulty, new ending it's balance thing out a lot(but still easy if you got some OP items). Plus it have challege to unlock something like costumes and new characters so its keep me busy long enough (for a game that have a few hundred mb size). But right now, it don't have that much contents so i suggest, go back to check it later if you're in the mood for rogue-like.
This game somehow ticked all the boxes to activate all my neurons. An indie rogue-like packed with action, hours of gameplay, multiple endings, characters, lore. And of course: *Short haired vampire witch mommy* 😩💦

The two great reasons thumbnail lured me in - the game play and narration had me stay and watch this fine, comprehensively detailed assessment of a cool rogue-lite game. Love it. :)
I love the artstyle, the presentation of the cutscenes and also that character duo! Absolutely not my type of gameplay but I still like to watch people playing it have fun ^^
What I like about Dead Estate, besides the game, is that the developers are Newgrounds guys. And I always have a fondness for the folks who got their start at Newgrounds.
Trust me, the creator (Two Left Thumbs) knows what he's doing when it comes to secret lore. His channel originally was one of the biggest Undertale and Deltarune theory channels
There are a ton and i do mean a ton of references within this game. From warcraft to resident evil and mairo. There are even Jojo ones too. You can't really step into a room without seeing at least one reference somewhere. Nice that you noticed the kill bill one as well.
If you're looking for rougelikes with a metroidvania twist, Dead Cells is pretty good and just got an dlc that added crossover content from Blasphemous, Hollow Knight, Guacamelee and a few others I can't remeber off the top of my head, and is well worth a try if you feel like giving it a go
Last time I checked dead cells was just an arcade game not a legit roguelike. I remember paying money for it and regretting it because it's main gimmick was simply platforming and using random weapons you find, not really an upgrade type game

That damn error message. I was streaming the game to a friend on discord when it happened and he got to witness me freaking out during the level afterward. I was not expecting a rogue-like game, despite being set in a spooky mansion, to freak me out.
I gotta recommend Dark Devotion for a roguelite. It has a similar health system to Hollow Knight and combat like Salt and Sanctuary, but has a lot of interesting and unique bosses and weapons to try out.
That was quite a fun video to watch! I really like the graphics of this game, especially the looks of a certain character... anyways, I'll be waiting for more great quality videos like this :D

for rougelike month I would recommend 20XX (or 30XX, the sequel, if beta still counts) It is a really solid game that in my opinion could use some more coverage. It is a rougelike Mega Man X style game with proceduraly generated maps and randomized items, so every run is different.
After watching the first few minutes of this video I played the demo. It was fun. The controls don't feel as tight as Enter the Gungeon, but it has a cute aesthetic and is something I can see myself revisiting at a later date.

WAY too massive to beat without making some heavy sacrifices to other roguelikes, but it's top tier just for the characters alone

It is a old newgrounds game more fleshed out with additional content, so thats probably why

Stradomyre has such a fucking cool art style. The stuff hes able to pull off with MS Paint is insane

A rogue-lite month sounds kind of impossible to deliver on. They're games designed for 500+ hours of gameplay. It would be like an MMO month.
