So my understanding is zabbix proxy is required ONLY if we are going to monitor 100 and 1000 of nodes to minimize the load on Zabbix server. IN other it is an optional component and if we have to monitor only 20 to 30 nodes we can install the proxy on the same zabbix server. Let me know if this understanding is correct ??
Helpful video. How about if I want to use separate database MySQL for instance installed in Ubuntu Linux box. How can i configure the MySQL server to be able to allow Zabbix server for storing data?

what is zabbix agent ? this is the component who speak to the host (which need to be monitored) > is this correct understanding ?
