this was a masterpiece man. everything about the camera quality and sound quality just adds to the genuineness of this and definitely lets you know that he isn’t trying to seek fame with this. i absolutely adore how the melody sounds in this cover at 0:17
The handpan is quite an interesting instrument. Someone who's never seen it before can make some pretty nice sounding songs on their first try, but experts can elevate it to a whole new plane of existence.
@Banni Damn, percussion in general is just expensive. That's why drummers are getting replaced by computers all the time. It's also pretty hard to mic up, record, and mix live drums well, at least compared to triggering samples, of course. It's also just not very accessible for the bedroom producer.
@Banni It's actually $1500-$2500 for legit handpans and not the poor quality chinese ones from Amazon. The $500 ones go out of tune very quickly and for handpans that means complex hammering of the metal, which when done incorrectly can ruin your drum.
I remember first finding this video and not really enjoying it because I was really just looking for a cover that explored the main melody of the song, in a way, but now that I have taken a bit of a deeper interest in the handpan, I can say that your play-along is really great! It explores more colours in Aria Math and has great texture, great job! ^^
2:42 - 3:20 that kind of arc in a solo is seriously difficult to pull off! I was like, uhhh, he hasn't hit that one note yet, has to be coming... but he took it back down to zero (prior to this timestamp) and built it right back up, very quickly to 100, ///and held it at 100 on that one note///. (That's so hard to do... I can't tell you how many dozens of times I've heard a solo where someone tries to do that and it just turns into wanking.) And then you gotta bring it back down somehow, and he does that perfectly too. Around 3:20 he cracks a half smile, starts to groove, knows he is totally killing

The little high tones you added really fit well. Also the slightly offbeat parts blended in so well. Sounds like something you’d call the Aria Math extended mix. Beautiful man
Minecraft tunes are usually so minimalist on their own... I really enjoyed the additional layer of part-groove, part-solo. The way you took a basic idea and gradually morphed it to extend up the range of the instrument over time... I was just going to put this on in the background, but I ended up riveted for the whole performance.
You took a sense of exploration and turned it into a chilling sense of sorrow or lonesomeness without taking anything away from the original. You added so much, yet it still meshed breath-takingly well with the original. This is honestly my favorite type of cover. You made something new while perfectly paying respect to the original. DUDE THIS SONG IS SO UNDERRATED FINALLY ITS GETTING THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES DBDJOBODUB This was always my favourite piece of Minecraft's soundtrack. It always gave me the feeling of a lost wanderer, far from home. Full of blues and greens (i have synesthesia, the auditory and text type, i forget the names) It always made me feel... something. I still haven't been able to pin point it. Dread or longing? An excitement to adventure, or a dread of leaving home? The newly added prismarine, new terrain generation and seemingly "colder" graphics all served to accentuate the experience. All of Minecraft's music made me feel this way, but Aria Math captured it best alongside Moog City. I still have that darn game and childhood Xbox 360. Never giving up on it. Edit: Microsoft is making me rethink my previous statement 😞 (this was in reference to chat moderation. I've given up on modern versions of MC and stick with Legacy edition or heavily modified Java. Bedrock sucks) Update: my 360's GPU died while my siblings were booting up MC for the last time. Not a single soul has wanted to repair it. Seemingly no amount of money will get anyone yo repair this beloved black box :( PS: I edited the rest of this comment to be more comprehensive. I was a bit mentally ill when I initially wrote it haha. Everything is the same, don't worry. I just improved the wording to better communicate what I meant. The handpan is quite an interesting instrument. Someone who's never seen it before can make some pretty nice sounding songs on their first try, but experts can elevate it to a whole new plane of existence.
A bummer they cost an arm and a leg, though. Would love to learn to play one
@@angius how much?
@Banni Damn, percussion in general is just expensive. That's why drummers are getting replaced by computers all the time. It's also pretty hard to mic up, record, and mix live drums well, at least compared to triggering samples, of course. It's also just not very accessible for the bedroom producer.
@Banni i played tuba in high school, i would love to have one but they're like the same cost as a used car
@Banni It's actually $1500-$2500 for legit handpans and not the poor quality chinese ones from Amazon. The $500 ones go out of tune very quickly and for handpans that means complex hammering of the metal, which when done incorrectly can ruin your drum.

(That's so hard to do... I can't tell you how many dozens of times I've heard a solo where someone tries to do that and it just turns into wanking.) DUDE THIS SONG IS SO UNDERRATED FINALLY ITS GETTING THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES DBDJOBODUB
This was always my favourite piece of Minecraft's soundtrack. It always gave me the feeling of a lost wanderer, far from home. Full of blues and greens (i have synesthesia, the auditory and text type, i forget the names)
It always made me feel...
Bedrock sucks)
Update: my 360's GPU died while my siblings were booting up MC for the last time. Not a single soul has wanted to repair it. Seemingly no amount of money will get anyone yo repair this beloved black box :(
