Great content as usual. I get hung up sometimes about not having a normal 4/5 min 'song' arrangement. Need to remember under 2 mins is ok for a beat :-) Resampling is great. Can be good sometimes to bounce the whole track down, then take a bar, cut up the audio and create fills, reverse some sections, go crazy, and then use them for transitions in the un-bounced track.
I needed this man! I made a little over 80 beats the last half of 2020 and have 3 finished bc I get so caught up on that 8 bar loop and cant get out of it without it sounding like it doesnt fit
I know the feeling. I used to have that feeling back in the late 90s - early 2000s using my MPC2000. I haven't made beats in over 10 years. But I'm getting back into it. Especially since I have bought quite a few synths in the last 6 months. Get yourself a nice synth to add to your samples. I personally recommend getting a Behringer synth since they are remaking alot of the old synths that are very hard to afford. Take my word, I own 5 now. A nice synth on top of a nice sample makes a big difference. Thank you for this video. I'm thinking of getting me an MPC Touch to travel with before I get the MPC X. 👍👍👍👍👍
your tips have all been inspiration to me lately, ive been big into Nujabes for years, over the past few i started making my own stuff too, and i really appreciate your help!
For song mode and standalone, bouncing your loop to a sample and putting it on multiple pads with pad effects and triggering them in a longer bar sequence is the easiest and best way I could find. One 4 bar loop bounced and thrown into 4 pads. 3 pads having effects on them, you just turned it into a 16 bar loop now. Having multiple programs will work too but will cause problems if you use explode since 3 of the same programs with 8 samples will end up being 24 tracks. Recording automation works for one sequence but causes problems on the next sequence. Can't record effect on/offs. I believe you can record xy effects only if you have them mapped to your Q Links and record automation. Bouncing down to audio clips cuts everything short at the end, so no tail is possible into the next sequence. In short: your best bet is to record the mpc externally and forget song mode exists.
Subscribed. This is the exact type of instruction I've been missing. Beyond the direct and specific ways to use samples, you showed a dedication to your craft and the community by recording this under less than ideal circumstances. The number of times I've procrastinated on a creative project because I wasn't in the right space, physically or mentally has definitely had an impact on how fast I learn. Seeing you throw knowledge out of your girl's grandmas house, off an ironing board really made me feel spoiled. Good shit homie, thanks for taking the time to share! Instant subscribe.
Great tips man. I love re-sampling and filtering chops especially. I would add messing around with reversing sample chops as well. That can get fun and interesting when transitioning sections.
I like the way you hear your samples. Or sample possibilities. Because of you I rethinking selling my MPC Live. Or may just the Force all together. The force may be better for me if I am to have your work flow.. Thanks for a great instruction video my brother..
True dont need a more involved arrangement yet I’ve often wondered how awesome that would be if beats / hip hop genre type stuff had exactly that- say a section with no vocals to let depth of musicality or “instrumental” shine, for like seven minutes or something. Bc often ppl aren’t limited by just one or two other instruments. Just seems like there’s room for this type a thing to happen more is all.
I’d like to see an episode based on “what is success in Lofi beats to study/relax genre?” Is it to get your beats in mixtapes on UA-cam? Is it to produce for some backpacker/conscious MCs? Does success mean DJing gigs with your own tracks? Or to perform mpc live? Would that mean being able to play a composition you’ve already written or build beats from scratch in real time?
Success is really nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. This means that any person who knows what they are doing and where they are going is a success. Any person with a goal towards which they are working is a successful person.
No not the same as being a musician but getting very creative and making music……Not Too Far out of the box. Thanks for sharing ( and I love the shot on the ironing board)
Are you using an ironing board as a table?! that's dedication. Also, the sound quality was amazing despite not having your real setup. I could only hear a difference in compression when you swapped from talking and the actual music. That's amazing.
Hi .You could make 16 levels from the first note of the sample on another track for those sweet note that is not in the sample and mix it up.thanks for video .
(re your 1 sample, 2 pitches style): What is the recommended interval between the two copies of the same sample? None of my hardware samplers have timestretching so I need to know the best intervals to create the variant samples in a DAW. Thanks.
4:37 How do you record a track with that on/off in effect that goes for the other stuff without the red and green symbol on the top right. Beginner here love the vids, make more in depth tutorials on the mpc please!
wow I love your beats but I have a question. How do you clear your samples for your beats to avoid copyright strikes, for example the samples you used for Spotify. Keep up the good work
@@cunninghouse4736 yes of course this is the first thing. But if one day you decide to post your beats you must be aware of this problem. You can’t use samples without a license even if you use a little portion of these ones.

this video is so dope, he's making beats on an ironing board.
It can stand the heat lol
yeah i didnt even know an ironing board could do that!! :D
It looks like an MPC to me!
Let's give him a grammy...
how to make fire beats:
1. put mpc on ironing board
2. turn on the iron
Literally my issue all the time 🤦🏾♂️ it’s like a 4-8 bar curse haha
mpc problems XD
Paying respect to a fellow 🐐 with that hoodie I see you.
That man is the greatest thing my country has put on the table for the hip hop culture 🙏🏻
Who that?

You always post the most useful videos when they are most needed it seems. Marlow the master inspiring bedroom musicians daily.
I never really know what to post, when I think a video is not gonna do so well it's the opposite. Happy that it was helpful
You have a good eye for aesthetics. Appreciate the package
I’ve been exploring this topic lately, so glad you covered it. I kept comparing myself to other producers, thank you once again 🙏🏽
This video is the most useful mpc video I've seen thus far
beatmaker de nucleo duro. sin tanta teoría musical y arreglos. muy buen video.
CookinSoul and You was taught me so many skill's thank for that dudes!

Nujabes is so good

Careful - Ricky Tinez might steal Grandma’s style for his backdrop
Nah he's creative enough to drop a great background
Is this comment a joke or is there a story behind this copying thing?
IZotope Dialogue Isolate will clear a lot of that background noise right up. It does a good job and is quick and easy to use.
This is why I absolutely LOVE your channel bro! It's the little jewels you drop that I never thought about, and I really appreciate it bro!🙏🏾✊🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yup, I'm stuck in a loop, but i think I can apply this lesson to it... Either way, I'm going to try :D

Dropping jewels like a thief bro!!!
BOOOM!
this is just what I needed!!! quick question did you add any reverb or delay or any processing to the sample in this video?
Yes I had reverb on everything, I don't advise it but I really do what I feel.

Also curious about this
My answer is:
dont let the question bothers you, just make beats.
Commenting cause I’m I treated also

And now you iron de loop
when you pitch the chops could you only do a few semitones or do you have to go up or a down an octave to keep the same key?
I just go by ear, pitch until I find a sound I like. Also do it to make it different from the original. I don't pay much attention to keys
Thanks Coach 🔥
Quick question: Why did you take a more sideways approach in the Mute section of this video?
Just cause of the video
When you bounce to sample, where does it go? I did it the desktop program and i don't know where it is.
Are the newer mpc’s comparable to the old ones?
maybe this ua-cam.com/video/r68tNMLctZs/v-deo.html
IRON type beat sample
👍🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏾
is it. a inner speaker on the MPC ?
Yes
After that intro you had to sleep on the couch 😂
it's a nice couch, I'd set up my mini studio in there
Where can we listen to this final beat?? Its so fire
next beat tape coming out on all platforms
So multiplying a loop multiple times then using the automation record can achieve this in song mode?
Could do it that way or duplicating programs with different effects
