Hi, very informative. I don't have an untreated room. I plan to record some guitars and vocals, and do some voicovers. Which USB mic would you recommend, in this price range?
It's likely that the suppression of handling noises in the figure-8 pattern is only an accident of circuitry to accomplish the pattern, versus an intended effect. It could be a DSP effect or an inverted waveform, to affect a destructive cancellation, like with noise-cancelling headphones. The following is suggestion only relevant assuming you actually like mic, and don't already feel a bit betrayed by AKG: As a programmer, it's in my head as something like an analog XOR, e.g. a waveform is nullified to the degree that it is similar across both capsules without phase or amplitude difference. Structural microphonic effects obviously impact both capsules. You could likely prove with this in one of two ways: the easier, but less conclusive approach is to compare the waveform in cardioid versus figure-8, noting rolled-off lowend as suggesting confirmation, or else you could confirm by adding a minimally reflective isolation cap to the reverse face. The second approach being a bit more involved, I elaborate by suggesting a thick piece of open-cell foam, backed by a heavy, amorphous material like plaster or silicone. You could test this by finding a foam pop-filter that fits, cut holes for the yoke screws, and then (not mounted) cover one side with the silicone or plaster in a few layers. The annoying part is that you'd probably want to find a box that's roughly the shape of the mic, or in some way take a mold. This would present a minimally reflective internal surface, with an isolating surface aback of that. Having performed that demonstration, my suggestion of a destructive cancellation effect is confirmed. One fix for the issue would need to be an analog AND filter between the front capsule and the post-XOR waveform. I'm at a loss for how to accomplish that in a simple circuit, so if there's not already a DSP chip in there, it likely won't happen. Another fix for the issue would possibly be a third capsule (or, at least, one more), which would be sealed and acoustically isolated, with the cancellation circuit repeated between this "n-plus-1"th capsule and the solo front-capsule waveform.
@@creatorsvillage, EXTREMELY unlikely, unless you care enough about the issue to shove it past the normal folk handling tier 1 and 2 support, ruining their individual days in the process. So, basically, it's likely to not do anything more than act as a hypothetical explanation of an achilles heel to an otherwise really nicely positioned multi-capsule microphone.
@@creatorsvillage, hey, for what it's worth, I LOVE your coverage. It doesn't hurt that you've got a radio-voice and a TV-face, but I really like your approach! You've been really helpful identifying hardware worth a second look!
I bought ara and this rumbling sound is terrible when desk, keyboard etc is even touched. It is really bad for calls, presentations etc when someone has to use keyboard. I have to be really careful not to touch anything
can u help me, which one is better for ASMR. rode usb, AKG or blue yeti? but i need michrophone not that too sensitif as i know i don't have private studio it means there is many people in my house lol. let me know
I don't really know much about ASMR, but if you're going to be right up on the mic, really close, than I think the Rode gives you the most flexibility. Make sure you download the software for the Rode, it makes it very versatile. Thanks for watching!
Can you test it nowadays... please I wanna rap on it .. I want just the best possible sound quality that's it... So before purchasing i want you to test again and give a reply whether it would be best for my rap vocals or not 🙄 I want your feedback, reply, suggestion, about this mic , in terms of just sound quality... Please it's a request 🙏🏻 I'm from India... No one is talking about this mic . I dont know why
Did you buy it? This mic sounds amazing but that handling noise can be an issue especially if it picks keyboard noise. I am from India as well and the rode mini is more expensive than this so I don't really know if I should buy this or not...
@@SpaceRanger21 hey I recently bought this mic from Amazon at 6999/-. And I'm telling you...this is best . Just best no need to tell anything... I record my rap vocals , and it's sound soo much neutral ✨ I don't use keyboard or do any activities during vocal recording. So that handing noise is not a problem , because I do not touch anywhere around the mic or mic itself. For streamers, this mic might be challenging. I don't know.. But for me,as I do Rap , sing , it's the best USB condenser mic around 7k. And for under 10k or around 10 it's big brother akg Lyra is the best mic...no doubt...over the rode mini , blue yeti nano or whatever mics are there , these 2 brothers are the winner 🏆 for me.
really weird.. threre is many multi pattern usb mic. and they are all does same job about noise reduction. i can't under stand why akg doing this..in my opinion maybe AKG ARA have 2capsule. 1 large capsule for cardioid pattern and 1 small capsule for omni pattern. then everything makes sense
Could you review lyra please
aww I hoped better! My room is not well treated and I'm very fidgety so it'll be a loud mess, I wanted it so much because that mic looks really good!
It's pretty, and if you can keep from touching it, it sounds pretty good.
Ara ara, strange indeed!
Thanks for watching!

Thx for the 2 vids on the mics. The AKG and the Rode sound butter through my Corsair H60's.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching, and for the info!
Have you tried the AKG Lyra or Mackie CARBON Premium USB?
Just picked one up on amazon for 50 bucks used from the amazon warehouse. Hopefully this goes good.
Good luck!

That's a very in depth analysis Sam. Hopefully someone at AKG will see it.

My favorite right now is the Bumblebee 2.
@@creatorsvillage i got the samson q2u. Did you have hands on it?
Hey,
Love the channel and the humour 😎
What's the mic being used to record the audio in this video please? (The all black one)
Thanks
At is the AT2040
@@creatorsvillage thanks 👍
some static electricity thing?
Dont think so, just handling noise.
Have they found a solution for that issue?
Not that I know of.
So if you never move it it’s fine
I know, right?

Choose one akg Lyra vs akg ara
I've never tested the Lyra....
definitely a no go
I like the tone and the look of the mic, and a little bird told me that AKG is aware of this problem and is working to fix it.
You are really funny 😄 man
I love your presentation 😎
Keep it

Sad 😞
Should wait for future usb mic from Austrian Audio
Is Austrian Audio coming out with a USB mic? They make really high in gear for sure.
