- I think the XB12R is a little slept on even with the odd quirks they have I think they have no business being as cheap as they are right now. I thought I would lay out the bike for everyone and give a little video overviewing everything about the bike rather than just ownership videos.

For reference of how these things perform... stock they were reported to put out 86 ft lbs. @6800 rpm, and 104 hp @7200 rpm. By experience, the torque starts to roll in around 3500, definitely there at 4000 and pulls hard til it bounces off the limiter.
Got an 08 XB12R, needs a few things... front rotor is warped a lil, clutch is slipping a a bit when I hammer down, and engine light is on. But it does have a Jardine can, and race tuner that the original owner had the dealer install (original paperwork came with the bike)....even came with the unobtanium Buell branded tail bag and saddlebags.
For performance parts... these are literally Sportster Evo engines. The oil filter was relocated (maybe pump moved a bit too) , but other than the lower case all or nearly all parts are swapable. A common mod for the Sporty is the Thunderbolt heads, Harley did incorporate Buells improvements to the Evo, though I forget what year it started. Later model Sportsters have better heads (iirc like '14 and later have better heads). Check out Hammer Performance for more power.
@ 70 mph my 2004 xb12r would get 60 mpg all day long with the DDFI. Loved it! Black/Gold version
I just got my xb12scg running properly again after the fuel pump died. What a fantastic and comfortable bike. Never getting rid of it.
yah my fuel pump also went bad a few ya\aers back
I liked how mine spun up quick but felt very balanced. Not shaky for a twin.
On acceleration it’s pretty smooth. At idle mine shakes like crazy
35k on my ‘04 XB12S. I won’t be getting rid of it. ❤
Remember when HD killed off Buell and the economic world was ending in 09. They were giving these things away at the dealer
It can be compared to the Suzuki GSX 1250 a lot of torque fun to drive and no electronics beside ABS
I wouldn't call it a super bike. It's not fast but not slow. I hate the rear brake on my xb12x when stopping on steep hills. Front brake works way better than most think. Haven't had trouble finding parts. Almost 30 k on it.
Good video. A few inaccuracies, but on the whole good info.
would be cool if it had a rotax vtwin and chain drive like the 1125r. harley motor, no. Still neat though, I just have a problem with Harley.
Would be cooler I’m not a Harley fan either. But I’m happy it doesn’t sound like one.
@@navscycles Funny I was at the harley dealership getting an inspection sticker for my bike when I saw this.
The 1125 were still belt drive. There is a chain conversion but it's aftermarket.
@@flyingfixed Oh strange. Cool though. I was pricing them, they aren't that expensive. I just don't know about parts. I would like to add one to the stable someday.
Cool!
Hammer performance can get you another 20hp or more
Almost got my hands on an XB900.
Got an 1125 rn but I want a firebolt so bad 😭
I want to ride a 1125r so bad so I know your feeling haha
That's a pretty cool bike
i might consider one 😂
Yah it’s a great buy.
Love the video
Del sol in back?
In the thumbnail? It’s a Miata
Good luck finding parts
For the engine and transmission, unless you damage the case, it is literally Sportster Evo internals. Just the oil pump and filter were repositioned, even geared the same as my 1200 Sporty. Eric Buell's improvements to the Evo (1200 and 883) got incorporated into Harley-Davidson production.
There’s aftermarket parts available for the wear items and like the other comment said you can use Harley stuff for the internals. But yes unfortunately your chances of getting oem products are very low.
990 Superduke is a far far superior bike on a budget.
Those are double if it more than these bikes atm if I’m not mistaken.
With the Harley motor these were absolute garbage. Low reving ,overweight waste of money. Vibration off the hook. The Harley motor was a joke hands down.
I disagree. They are still great bikes might be low revving but makes up for it in torque.
