MARSHALL AMPLIFIER TYPE: Glad I found this. It helped immensely with my own search for an obscure part. I hope you will forgive me for posting this for others who may find it too coming from the same field as myself. Just for reference for anyone who comes here as I did looking to identify them from their guitar amplifier, Marshall use a version of these on their PCBs in most of their amp models. They chose the slimmest in the range, the "EH" type which isn't shown in the video above as it is obviously a separate application. They are 2.5mm pitch with a 3 sided shroud open all along the whole of one long side on the PCB mounted male socket. It also has two slots on each side, one internal to the shroud and one through it. The wire mounting female plug has two locating/locking ridges down both of its short edges which fit into those slots. The socket also has small vertical ridges along the shroud back wall between each of the terminals while the plug has notches to register with them.

A little general information on plugs and sockets. If it’s got pins it’s a plug and if it has holes it’s a socket. The shell defines the gender. The JST battery connectors in the video are thus. A great video and explanation. I can't believe I found you, and just in time. I broke the wires of my JST cable when my receiver got yanked out of my quad after coming down hard (ie: a slight crash....LOL). First of all I really like your videos, very high signal to noise :-) The way I tell the JST-SH from a Pico Blade connectors is the PB has one or more humps on the back and the JST-SH is flat. Also the JST-ZH (Spektrum Sat) pins are round, where the JST-SH and Pico Blades are flat. The JST 2.0 common to the hobby would be a JST-PH, popular on nano quads like the Tiny Whoop, et.al. The JST 2.5 is actually a JST-XH. The very first connector you showed but didn't name was a JST-RCY, which is commonly used for micro quad battery connectors. To solve the problem of crappy plastic insulation, I custom make all my cables and hand crimp the connectors (Pico Blades are a real pain) using a Engineer PA-09 crimper. FWIW, the Pico Blade and JST-RCY connectors are suitable for wire to wire connections. The PB is good for signal ( < 1A ) and JST-RCY for low power ( < 3A ) applications. I like to make my builds modular where possible as I'm often having to repair them (I suck a flying). I get the connector and pins from Digikey.

I'm desperately searching for the right tool to chrimp these my self but it really hard to find the correct tool for the job.... can you help? What is the tool called?
Try the Engineer PA-09 crimping tool (readily available through Amazon). I've personally used it for every connector type mentioned in this video except JST-SH.
There's a 10" QUICK CHANGE RATCHET CRIMPER here in Australia at my local Tech shop, JAYCAR. distributed by ELECTUS, but I think the parent company is in USA, their website is www.techbrands.com The crimper features removable dies to suit various wires and connectors, from open terminal types as in JST from 26 to 18 AWG and 20 to 10 AWG, through Automotive, TV F type, SMA, Fibre optic Telecommunications and older BNC and RJ** network connectors. A little pricey here at $60 (roughly $45 USD) for the Ratchet and 1 die (each about a third of the price.) A very nice tool non the less, used it for many JST and Servo cables and it's still going strong, ergonomic too, comfortable to use as all effort is taken up by the simple mechanism in the ratchet handle...I know it's 7 months late, but I hope this helps mate😆
I get my components and connectors from AliExpress in China (The Chinese Ebay), most of the small electronics stuff is 10% of the US/UK prices. US/UK sellers buy from them and then whack the price up for you.
i need a 2.5 six pin extension. two wires are 20 awg and four wires are 16 awg. how would you go about finding something so specific? im not even sure how to format a search. also, it needs a clip on the female end...
Also you told us about the JST SH 1.0mm & 1.25mm, but we didn't get the names of any of the others i.e., the red one you show at first saying a JST search defaults to it. I still don't know what it's called. But thanks for trying though.

You skipped the 2.0mm. I think the NES-001 top loader I'm working needs a JST right angle header, problem is I'm guessing what it is, I know it's a 7 pin, the 2.54 is to big and the 1.25 was to small. Anyone know which one I need?
ive got a problem with my f3 sp fc. i cant get in it. i flashed it with bootlaoder pins and flashed fine. powered of and on but i still cant get in it. is jt broken?
do u ever use Male JSTs with wires attached to female with wires attached instead of servo cables? JSTs are so much smaller than the servo leads which can be very useful on smaller builds.
Yep I do. Instead of using the big red 2 wire JSTs to connect cameras and VTx's to the PDB I use a 2 pin 1.25mm male and female connectors. Much smaller but does the same thing.
I have some leds I want to rig up to my quad and I have 22 gauge wire I’ll solder to the led but I am not sure what connector I need to plug into the 3s battery?
PLEASE help!!! That 4 pin u showed an plugged into that camera at the start is there a adapter to plug that into to make it a 3 pin ?? Plz help ud make my life !!!

There is a bit of a learning curve for JST but after you wade through it is makes sense.
There are series of connectors. The x.xmm values is the pitch or the spacing of the pins
EH - 2.5mm
PH - 2.0mm
ZH - 1.5mm
SH - 1.0mm
ACH - 1.2mm Wire to Wire
There are 3 components to a PCB connector.
The Contacts /pins
The Header/ piece mounted on PCB
The Housing/ The piece that fits into the Header
The ACH - Wire to Wire
Plug Contact and Socket contact ----- remember pins are called contacts.
They have Plug Housings and Socket Housings. look at it like a plug and wall socket.
The Plug contacts/pin fits in the Plug housing.
The Socket contacts are placed in the Socket housing.
So if you jump to 6:15 the beige connector on the PCB is the header. The white connector is
the housing. The contact fits in the housing.

recently i bought a drone (gteng t905f ) it has proprietary 4 pin connector attached to a 2s lipo battery....my question is that can replace 2 pin connector with a 4 pin jst connector on 2s lipo battery? and how? because i can't find the proprietary batteries online
Do you know what the connector is on the foxeer tm25 switcher? It has a clip on it that you push to release it.
Awesome video! Question, what do you call the metal pins attached to the wires? Is there a way I could attach one of those to a wire?
He's no more to answer you! :(
Have u ever found JST 8 pin 1mm cable that works like an extension? So it has a female head at one end, and male at the other.
R.I.P 😔
whats the sixth jst pin in the thumbnail pls i need it for my drone
if there are different color but same it's ok to connect?
Hello and thanks for your fabulous tutorial, I can not find already prepared cables with 2 male connectors 3Pin 15 cm Molex Micro JST PicoBlade 1.25 mm, in the links you provided have only one connector, I have to find them with two 3-pin connectors male, but I can not find them. can you give me a tip? hello from Italy, Samuel.
I'm desperately searching for the right tool to chrimp these my self but it really hard to find the correct tool for the job.... can you help? What is the tool called?
The tools I have seen are extremely expensive. Seriously ridiculously expensive. Hundreds of dollars. I haven't found one yet for a cheap price.
Try the Engineer PA-09 crimping tool (readily available through Amazon). I've personally used it for every connector type mentioned in this video except JST-SH.
There's a 10" QUICK CHANGE RATCHET CRIMPER here in Australia at my local Tech shop, JAYCAR. distributed by ELECTUS, but I think the parent company is in USA, their website is www.techbrands.com
The crimper features removable dies to suit various wires and connectors, from open terminal types as in JST from 26 to 18 AWG and 20 to 10 AWG, through Automotive, TV F type, SMA, Fibre optic Telecommunications and older BNC and RJ** network connectors.
A little pricey here at $60 (roughly $45 USD) for the Ratchet and 1 die (each about a third of the price.)
A very nice tool non the less, used it for many JST and Servo cables and it's still going strong, ergonomic too, comfortable to use as all effort is taken up by the simple mechanism in the ratchet handle...I know it's 7 months late, but I hope this helps mate😆
Rest in peace. You're still helping.
Do you now the name or link to buy the connector used in spektrum transmitters/batteries? Male or female. Thanks

Suddenly, a big fuzzy part of the hobby comes into focus!
I get my components and connectors from AliExpress in China (The Chinese Ebay), most of the small electronics stuff is 10% of the US/UK prices. US/UK sellers buy from them and then whack the price up for you.
WHAT SCRAP ITEM will have JST 1.25 male plug in it? i don't want to wait a month for a bundle from china.....
i need a 2.5 six pin extension. two wires are 20 awg and four wires are 16 awg. how would you go about finding something so specific? im not even sure how to format a search. also, it needs a clip on the female end...
Make it yourself? Buy the conector with the metall things but without wire and crimp wires to it.
Also you told us about the JST SH 1.0mm & 1.25mm, but we didn't get the names of any of the others i.e., the red one you show at first saying a JST search defaults to it. I still don't know what it's called. But thanks for trying though.
19 pin plug for system connection for ac-and dc for fisher all in one.
Great video..Thanks..Do you know the exact technical name of the PixHawk GPS connector? Need technical name of both male and female connectors, u-Blox M8N GPS female connector and the male inside the PixHawk (NOT THE NEW 2.1)flight controller. Thanks for your help.

where can I find DF13 5 pins connector cable
Finally obe vid which clears this up
You skipped the 2.0mm. I think the NES-001 top loader I'm working needs a JST right angle header, problem is I'm guessing what it is, I know it's a 7 pin, the 2.54 is to big and the 1.25 was to small. Anyone know which one I need?
Best information ever, thanks. Appreciate your feed
So would a 2s battery be different than the 4s connector you showed?

can I use a 22 or 23AWG wire with the 1.25mm pitch JST connector?
JC passed away a few years back. But you should be able to it may be a tight fit
ive got a problem with my f3 sp fc. i cant get in it. i flashed it with bootlaoder pins and flashed fine. powered of and on but i still cant get in it. is jt broken?
Can you please refer to the amount of current these connectors can hold?
do u ever use Male JSTs with wires attached to female with wires attached instead of servo cables? JSTs are so much smaller than the servo leads which can be very useful on smaller builds.
Yep I do. Instead of using the big red 2 wire JSTs to connect cameras and VTx's to the PDB I use a 2 pin 1.25mm male and female connectors. Much smaller but does the same thing.
I have some leds I want to rig up to my quad and I have 22 gauge wire I’ll solder to the led but I am not sure what connector I need to plug into the 3s battery?
EXCELLENT tutorial on RC harness/connectors👍 Thank You❗
