    I like calling Prudnyk's style of setting the hook the "uppercut". Lots of rise and supination, perfect for defeating the low hand toproll

    Prudniks cup and finger containment are what forced Artyom into a hook in this match. You can see Morozov setting up for a top roll, and Evgeny right off the bat blocks Morozov’s pronation with his finger containment. And since Morozov was nowhere near strong enough at the time to roll through Prudniks cup, Prudnik was able to win that round pretty comfortably. He beat Artyom in the setup flawlessly.

    I don’t think he is still rising. It gives that appearance because of Artems up pressure. He is actually giving downward force but is being met with resistance. It was all in his setup to able to be much higher after he ate up Morozov’s pronator.

    I think the technique Prudnik uses makes it harder to set the hook, because he is exposing is fingertips and he is making them very vulnerable, but if it works, he will find himself in a much better position compared to the classic method

    • @AdamLighter1
      @AdamLighter1 16 днів тому

      Its not true, rather a complete opposite. He is protecting his fingers by rising. Its just that hookers tend to not have such good rising and they usually rely too much on their arm, hence most people need to add side pressure to set the hook.

    The prudnik that showed up for this match was just unreal. Look at the thickness of him in this match vs every other match we've seen him in in the last year or two, Its like two different people. I think the prudnik that showed up on that day could have given every single person in the super heavyweights a real challenge if not beating them all maybe aside from levan.

    best part 2:51 Prudnik giving it a good lick hahaha :P I loved his setup tho, cause he got his wirst and hand so close to his face, asap the "ready go" he literally "just had to rotate his shoulder in" and there u got it, he got the height advantage AND his hook is basically set, u can clearly see how Morozov tries to roll out but he just CAN'T.

    I would go as far to say that these are accually different moves. Devon has a bit of a video on it aswell. So very techniqal when one is sort of a high and one a low hook. You could say that one is closer to a press form and one closer to that of a top roll in terms of arm and body pressures.

    Can you please tell me what’s better in the setup for top rolling and height. Wrist-on-wrist contact or no wrist contact. I’m asking because I have seen Devon do this against Denis and it seemed to work. Can someone please answer because I will arm wrestle my friend and he is much stronger than me.

    Actually in one of the table monkeys videos they talked about this topic they said its better against low hand toproll like chopping upwards while supinating

  • @erix1384
    @erix1384 17 днів тому

    I think the key here is that he completely blocks artyoms access to pronation by supinating and giving artyom his cup. It is much harder to toproll from a fully cupped position, so prudnik fully supinates and gives morozov the cup, but keeps the height for himself. After morozov surrenders the toproll attempt prudnik is left with a huge advantage in the hook because he held on to the height.

    • @Guitarist19887
      @Guitarist19887 17 днів тому

      You would fight for high ground more. And need more rise and pronation to protect against it I’d assume to block someone doing this.

  • @pearce_bros
    @pearce_bros 17 днів тому +1

    Prudnik's technique is significantly not better for me, it's just that he's stronger than morozov on the right basically that morozov's pronation-backpressure didn't matter at all.. I always do hook like Prudnik before, I also have shorter arm and my opponents are all long armed, but it doesn't work for me. They simply pronated straight to my cup, not until I do zurab's form..
    It's basically strength gap only

  • @Xhonik09106
    @Xhonik09106 17 днів тому

    @carrotcat2729 17 днів тому

    that poronation is 90% Back pressure, and 10% poronator Muscle. Then how come ermes lost his wrist badly against levan, and Devon took levan's wrist. Even though ermes has 10% - 15% more back pressure than Devon. My analogy is this: Devon had enough poronator power to hold his wrist in place when serging for a hit. He just didn't have enough back pressure to serge and attack. Ermes has tons of back pressure so he can attack very powerfully. however, when attacking his poronator is not strong enough to hold up so he gets supinated. This is super clear in the Devon vs ermes Match as you see ermes took his own wrist by serging. So i think, as long as your poronator holds up, Back pressure is more important in a top roll lane. If your poronator doesn't hold up, than poronation is more important to train because you can still top roll without cup, but you can't top roll when getting supinated.

    • @clientlee991
      @clientlee991 17 днів тому

      Backpressure only matters when you are in a pronated position, therefore if you are a pure toproller once your pronator locking fails you get quickly beaten through hand and wrist(both Devon and Levan did that to Ermes). However, the difference is when you overpronate and your opponent lets go of their wrist, you suddenly have no room to pin match because of the pad length, and Levan can't transition from a crouching down position to a with-hand press quickly whereas Devon is master on that combo. Hand-control press and flop press are two very different move and basically no one can stop a fully locked flop press(Ermes demonstrated that to Levan) .

    My coach taught me to set up a hook like that. When you do that you feel like you crushing your opponents thumb cause you curl in and with a wrist curling motion so in the end you have to let the opponents thumb go and the opponent hand slides under yours.

  • @adamloud4832
    @adamloud4832 17 днів тому

    but i think the reason that Prudnik is able to do that without covering his thumb knuckle is because of his short thumb ... which makes it harder for us normal people to do that 🥲
