    Biggest issue with people trying to replicate Devons lift is their own egos. Devon preaches accuracy--they are using weights that's too much for them and not getting the form exactly right because of it. They should just work up the weight slowly and the gains will pay for themselves

    • @derbycityarmwrestling7300
      @derbycityarmwrestling7300 7 місяців тому +3

      There's definitely some form policing though that in my opinion is too picky for this lift. Devon himself says to keep your forearm parallel to the floor, but he even says "rather a little bit up than down" because a little bit extra up actually makes it easier. So even Devon has his own way to cheat the lift a little bit. None of us are perfect, but luckily this is not an issue as long as that strength applies to the table, cheating or not. In fact, I feel there is value to learning the leverage advantages of cheating a lift like this, so that you can understand on the table what might give you a leverage advantage. For the most part I agree though that people should maintain accuracy.

      Devon is showing that strength can be accessed to its fullest potential when the technique is expressed properly, theres a reason why hes #1 now and beating stronger heavier guys, hes already changing the game, in the future we're going to be seeing more master technicians over pure strength

      @@aohjii Devon's not beating stronger guys. Devon is insanely strong. I just say this because I've witnessed it with my own eyes. I train with Austin Jaggers and he just holds Austin center table on the right hand. Austin Jaggers had an absolute war with Derek Smith where Austin won. Austin and Derek are on a pretty high level in their own right, and yet Devon can just casually spar with them.

      @@TidusL2plus many people have a relatively low table iq and don't know this directly replicates a catch/kingsmove on the table. But people dont understand the kingsmove and suck at it. To do a kingsmove you have to kick back the wrist to allow for rise and lock your pronation. Drive outwards towards your own B side pin pad and slide the elbow out BANG. Nobody understands. Dewvon is very precise with the setup, and how he performs this. He cares about result, but he cares more about separating the muscles that he wants to engage, and remove all other muscles.
    Watching other guys doing this excercise, MMT, Ermes etc, I got a feeling that they are doing the opposite, trying to convince world (and themselves) that they are better than Devon in this. So far, haven;t seen anyone even close, all of them engage biceps and/or legs, and/or back, and/or leaning back heavily to add body mass etc.

If normal ppl like me can without any problems understand the difference between how Devon does set A, and how other ppl does set A, than how come all those pros do not see difference???? No this is an exercise that if done correctly the pronator is the point of failure. This is a pronation exercise not a backpressure exercise so the length of the forearm is irrelevant as it does not effect pronation.
      For this to be effected by arm length you would have to use a different wrap (like Ermes and other pullers were in other videos).

      This is a pronation excercise and if the wrap is done correctly the pronator will be the failure point. If the forarm is parallel to the ground and the wrap is correct it is irrelevant if you rock back or your heels or toes rise.
      Both Milo and Auden do it a bit different than Devon but their forarm is always parallel and the wrap is correct as those are what counts in this lift. I can guarantee if the other crap mattered he would correct his kids form.

Many in the comments does not even understand the lift, saying that he is not even lifting it that high off the ground, so Ermes lift is more impressive, and so on. I hope this video will end this debate and make people do it properly from now on, or don't do it at all if they lack the proper mobility for it. Sure, i am not an expert or anything, but even i can see that so many is doing it all wrong, lifting their foot off the ground and so on.

    • @Shawn-eb9wo

      And yet you don't understand the lift either. This is a PRONATION lift, there are only 2 things that matter being parallel to the ground with your forearm and the wrap as that is what effects the pronator. Whether or not your toes or heals move or you rock back is irrelevant as it does not effect your pronator.
      Watch his practices with his kids, they all have different form but maintain the two rules I said above. As he is very strict about correct form he would correct them if the other crap mattered.

      Edit: Ryan Bowen just dropped a video explaining this lift in more detail. So maybe that will help you understand that there is a difference. Ermes might be lifting more weight than Devon, but he is still making his lift easier.

      Armwrestling is a game of little differences. But no this is a pronation lift so all that matters is factors that effect pronation. Forarm parallel to the ground and the wrap to isolate the pronator.
      If you move your toes or heals, rock back or wear a green shirt are all irrelevant unless they effect the pronator.

    Guys, it's his way of doint it, when i kick my wrist back i can do more weight, when i cup my wrist i can do less weight for riser for example. Do these exercises in a neutral position and then you will understand what's better for your body. You are not Devon Larrat, don't copy his training, do what's better for you and your anatomy. These concrete elbow guy is annoying asf, telling people wrong information. Watch his video where he says it's easier to do pronation while sitting on the bench and day later Ermes posting a video telling that it's actually harder, obviously, because he tried it and many people do.
