People cool your jets. Clearly a very talented player. But he's 14. The world is littered with exceptionally talented youth that never made it. You're not helping with the hype. If he keeps a love of game and work ethic that got him here, he'll have a good chance - but physical attributes as he comes out of puberty will be incredibly important. No one knows yet.
Well said mate
Well said. Same thing was said about Freddy and where is he now.
No doubt he’s got talent, but I see these kids everywhere nowadays. Let’s see how disciplined he maintains.
Well said! All young player's physical attributes as they come out of puberty are CRITICAL, as the adult game is a completely different story when compared to youth soccer. I wish the young player all the best.
He already made it, City acquired him
@@modernsoccer1860yes but no need for the pressure n let him become the best
This is what I’ve been waiting for. The wave of young American players who grew up with an emphasis on technical ability as opposed to athletic ability. You could already see it coming with the talent in the current USMNT. But what’s so exciting about this is that Sullivan is a US trained athlete. It’s a good sign for the MLS Next development plan
Philadelphia has one of the next academies in MLS. It was only a matter of time before they developed a special young talent like this. Hopefully, this is a further indication that Pulisic’s generation was just the tip of the spear and more talents are coming.
Freddy Adieu says hello
His stuff is really not that impressive. Watch the same age players in Spain and then comment.
This kid will get wiped off the pitch..
@@user-dk6mt2qf3x Good thing the Man City talent scouts don’t agree with you. Obviously they think he’s good enough to play in Europe
MLS = Retirement league
I love seeing young American players balling out. 10-15 years ago American football was considered a joke. And now we have legit talent being showcased it’s nice to see.
I find he's overhyped 🤦🏽♂️
@@TriniKid85 maybe so, it’s good to see Americans balling out
@scareface1197 well yes I agree , it took long enough for Americans to actually get good at football, but just remember that most of the goals he scored here the defense was poor....so yeah in my opinion he's too overhyped my friend
It still is a joke
Congrats city
Pure talent! His main weapon is his flair and instincts.
Good job City!
From what I see he is really versatile and uses his low center of gravity exceptionally well. He is gonna be insane under CFG coaching especially if he goes to Girona first 😍
Finally: american attitude, european technique. Been waiting for that combo for a while
Pulisic has European technique. He’s one of the top players in Serie A. 20 goals this season
Pulisic was literally developed in Europe. This kid is all American meaning North American tenacity with South American flair.
@@mrfilamfishing Pulisic went to Europe at 16. Same as this kid. He was developed in Pennsylvania
'American attitude' means nothing! Wanting to win, working as hard as you can and striving every day to the best best is not reserved for Americans bud!! Those traits are just as prevalent in European players, if not more so as Football is the biggest sport in Europe, soccer is not so popular in America.
@@davidbrittain3212wait til you see this generation of American players 🔥🔥 we live in Tennessee and my 9 yr old kid plays for Real Madrid. I’ve been there 4 times the last nine months. Their Dinosti Cup team has five Americans on it. It’s bananas
Wishing him luck. Soo many "wondeerkids" stay in the "wonder" phase and never really reach the projected heights ... Hope he does his best for himself and has a great career.

i'm pretty sure I've never seen the skill at 5:28 before in my life
I'm just going to speak honestly as a United fan. I've never seen someone move with the ball like that. Ever. I've watched every highlight reel of every young prodigy you can imagine. I've seen every clip of Messi, I've seen every clip of Ronaldo young and old. I've never seen someone pass a player like the way I've just seen this kid in the 7 minutes I've just witnessed. Even the weight of pass when he's playing his teammates through is immaculate. This is the best footballing talent to come out of America and it's about time to be honest. Let's not underestimate things, at 14 he's the most naturally gifted American footballer, and the way he moves the ball is unlike anything I've ever seen in Europe or globally. Are we sure his parents aren't Brazilian? I'm truly astonished at what I've just seen.
Agreed!!!! Saw on my social media feed of this”14 year old” debuting. Geeeze after these highlights, all I have to say. He will live up to the hype without a doubt !
You’re out of your mind. You’ve never seen someone move with the ball like a 14 year old?
Have you watched any soccer in your life or are you just a family member/friend of his?
@@logicaldude3611 I've never watched "soccer" in my life. I've watched football* and played football" for about 22 years, and I stand by what I said. This kid is special. If you don't get it, that's fine. I can't explain it to you.
Ok, the kid is very good for his age. He COULD be exceptional. If you've seen every Messi clip, you've seen Messi do this over and over again to the best defenders in the world. It's not the same level albeit the kid looks the part at 14.
He isnt even the best young player. If you just saw Yamal hes 100x better
If I didn't know his age, I would have thought he was 20 and has already played 2 years as a professional
That’s a stretchhh

Berchimas overated, 14yo Mathis Albert is the truth tho, gives alot of lamine vibes....him and Cavan will be fun to watch in next pro this year.

Great feel for the game ... No ones saying he's a lock to even play overseas but his future is bright indeed
He’s literally signed to man city 😂😂😂
he got that little stutter step change of pace that lets him protect the ball with his body while getting by people.
He can become an elite young player in the world by the time he turns 19, it’ll all come down to how serious he takes development in the training ground

I'm here because I heard he broke Adu's record for youngest MLS player debut. My first time seeing him play. What stands out to me, is that he has elite vision of time and space and his teammates. He doesn't wow you with crazy skills like a Neymar or Ronaldo..but he sees his teammates and passes perfectly in stride or into space for his mates better than anyone else. To me that makes him a great teammate and anyone would want to play with him. Interested to see if he becomes that elite passer and makes the USMNT in the future. Good luck young man! 👍
Finally America is producing players like this. Bright future

I swear I see 1000 of kids playing like this here in Europe!! The only thing that matters is mentality!!!!
incredible vista and vision, he already knows the timing and the power for deadly passes, more potential than Hendrik and Yamal
This is delusional lol he’s playing with kids. Yamal is playing in one of the best leagues in the world. Yamal would single handedly win games at the level this kid is playing. He’s good with a bright future, but don’t be dumb.
@@deeeezeeeee6204 time will tell, in 10 years Cavan would be a better player than Yamal
@@messifinito3403 I mean, sure. That’s possible, but as of right now, Yamal is light years ahead of him. Being great at the youth level in America is not the same thing as being great.
@@deeeezeeeee6204 yes right now yamal is way better because he is quick and can create space, but young players like yamal who are pure dribblers often peak very young, late teens, and hit a potential limit / cap in their early mid 20s like dembele and others, while good young midfielders tend to grow steadily and hit a better prime in their late 20s and forward while passing under less hype than attackers

Technically he looks great, but let’s give him some time, he’s just 14 and puberty is in its way, so, with that being said we need to find out how strong he is going to be, how much strength he’ll have and one more thing is discipline and conditioning, is just the beginning but is not necessary to put so much pressure on him.
Wow! This kid is on fire🔥 🔥
Welcome to MCFC!!!

Welcome to Manchester city 💎🩵
He have serious passing abilities and visions
There is like 20 oh him in every top club academy in europe. Good luck to him hope he works hard and makes it pro
He literally destroyed every top club playing people older too. That's why he is considered the top 14 yr old in the world. He used to play on Dortmund youth.
From this short video I can clearly see that the kid has three of the most important attributes for a player that nobody can teach... Game vision, agility and speed... Everything else that's needed to become a ⚽️ professional will depend on coaching and will power... 🤔
He’s LEGIT.
My judgement is solely based on this video but, it's interesting to notice that he doesn't look selfish and is always looking to pass, doesn't do unnecessary dribling, usually kids his age or players with his dribling skills tend to be selfish asf
I'm a former field lacrosse player and coach and as good as this kid is, there's this thing called puberty when kids of similar age develop at different rates. It's hard to tell at this point if Cavan Sullivan is just physically developing earlier than his peers (which implies his skill advantage will disappear as his cohorts catch up with him) or if he is indeed that much better than other kids. Interesting to see how he fares against 17-18 year olds in Europe.
this kid is 5'7 so strength does not matter. he has pure ability for his age. If you're American, I understand why you'd think this way because in the US, an emphasis on physical abilities is more prominent than technical abilities. He has almost 0 physical advantages that would make him better than the others. He's simply great because of the way he can move the ball.
@connorroberts8170 The kid has a good soccer brain, and is twitchy. American coaches have nothing to teach him because almost none were pros, and if they were pros they were defenders (see: Berhalter, Curtin, Lalas etc).
He’s playing up a couple of years and owning older players.
Hope City figures out a way to get him to Dortmund yesterday!
how about everybody stop the hate. He's crazy good. It didn't say he's crazy good so the rest of the world better watch out. it didn't say he's as good as every Brazilian that ever existed.
I like this kid, a lot of potential, a serious contender, if he is lucky he can be the next great Freddy Adu
HAHAHAHA......... I saw Freddy's 1st game for DC United!
Lil Bro has a good vision
Generational talent
can someone tell me, who made it rain?
This kid is REALLY good.. wow
Yes.....and I recall this exact story for Freddie Adu.
The guy that plays the 7 in a lot of these highlights had impressive finishes
Our Next Fredy Adu finally
He needs to join one of the Top European Academies asap.
I'm not even from the USA but I have seen it coming for years now... A population of over 300million, with the fastest growing professional league its really inevitable that US will one day compete with the best in the world... this is what MLS and US Soccer is really going for... not saying that will happen in 5 or 10 years but another 15-20 years of developing talent, I think they will be knocking on the door.. not saying they will be the best, but they will produce and compete right there. People can say what they want about MLS but MLS already has surpassed 95% of leagues in the world in terms of pay, sponsorship, facilities and infrastructure.
I just hope staying in the US doesn’t hurt his development. Would much rather have him go now to Man City and start training there.
I think if he had a decent agent he would have quietly gone to UEFA somewhere like Betis or Celta Vigo, learned a language and grown up through their academy system. Since he does have a EU passport. A high profile city contract must have been necessary because the family needed the money.
The reason whu I need to land in the USA and keep up with my coaching career😊
Background music is really good. What’s the name?
He does play at another level for a 14yo. Hopefully he gets the guidance to teach him that his work hasn’t begun yet and if wants to play to his full potential he’s gonna have to mute all the noise around him and put his head down and work for it every day.
There isn't a coach in MLS that can teach him a thing.
@@r2dad282 that’s a really dumb comment.
People really learn nothing. They said the same things about alexandre pato in Brazil. Then he hit a growth spurt in his late teens / early 20s and he was never the same player again, injuries galore.
Pato was no where near as technically skilled as this kid. This kid has been coached to play since he was born. His father and mother were both professional players and his father is a coach
@stillsober19 The lesson from Pato is that it's critical to stay healthy until they are fully grown (about 23). American players keep getting bad career advice and get injured early and often. See: CP, Gio
Didnt see anything that a top talent in any big clubs academy couldnt do, I'll be honest.
Buddy the Barcelona academy has DOZENS of these players. Only a few make it. Why? Because they grow up. Sometimes they lose it. He’s got a high chance of making it I just hope they don’t hype him up too much
Looks better than Adu :) Relax people. I'm a fan.
He ensures USA makes it to 2nd round of Copa Cup in 2034
He’s got Juan Mata playing style to me.
His playstyle reminds me of Jadon Sancho in his dortmund days
But certainly physically better
@reqon8501 yh, I agree with you on that one
Mancity is a good choice to strengthen his talent.
How is American main stream media not going crazy this kid is unreal wtf 😂
@kylekalakoda1304 Wait until he gets kicked a few times in MLS and gets injured......
hey! i play soccer at a fairly high level in the US and i know a lot of people who have had opportunities for them. one example: i have a friend, he is good don’t get me wrong but he is not always the best player on the field even playing at a lower level. guess what? he got a opportunity to tryout with sporting KC’s academy. another kid: i have played with, against, and even refereed him. he is very very good. he used to play 2 years up and still play very well, best on the field. also, his athleticism is lacking. his dribbling and passing are exceptional but he does not have athleticism and is small. he got an offer from Hellas Verona in italy. i think that we will start to see more and more weaknesses from sullivan, but he is very good. don’t overhype him. thanks for reading if you got this far. EDIT: one more player that i know is playing for a much higher level and older team, but i just don’t think he is that good. sure he can distribute the ball but overall is a fairly average player
Nodays there are so many players in the world amazing as him EVERYWHERE and they can be found cause social media BUT a soon as they get fame or pressure they start falling apart... people need to let the kids grow a bit more and set their mind and we will gain another mbappe vinicius foden etc ...stronger set of mind...
Hopefully all this hype dont break this kid or give this kid the idea the hard work stops now cause he thinking hes already made it i only hope the best for the youngster but all this external pressure isnt what a 14 year old kid needs we will see how he matures into a man i cant help but think of adu when i hear about this kid the next pele is what they projected for him but he had a rough road in the big leagues never really established himself
This is EXACTLY what I’m looking for in terms of progression/career track for American internationals. There should ideally never be a player on the squad that played in college. With this sport, if that was your only viable option, you’re already way behind.
You're absolutely right. College leagues are where US talent stagnates and falls behind, whilst talented players their age from other countries are breaking into elite level pro leagues.
@@sebfox2194 that is exactly right, in the past it really just hasn’t been that possible for talented Americans to go other routes. But at this point the European development style has to be our standard for players representing the national team.
@omarbahrour I think all the top nations follow the same sort of model. College sport is for amateurs in most countries, and any particularly good players will be training at a pro club. The very best will be playing professionally at the highest adult level from around 16-18 onwards.
@@sebfox2194eh us is pay to play for soccer so u can’t blame certain ppl for trying college route

idk why but he reminds me of di maria with the way he passes the ball.
The amount of left foot players these days because of Messi is so odd. Growing up there would maybe be 1-2 on each time. Now it’s like 50/50.
2:23 LMAOOOO😂😂😂
The golden boy!
It's too early to say how it will pan out for him. We've seen loads of equally talented 14 years old kids in England and Europe who look like world-beaters, but never quite make it. At the moment he is no better than any of those. Time will tell. When he comes to Man City, it'll be a huge step up and a lot of those fancy tricks just won't work. Let him develop without the hype because a lot of these players seem to find their level when they step up against far better defenders and players who are far more technical and tactical than any he has faced to date. Only time will tell.
If he keeps it up he will be playing with Christian Pulisic at 18 years old in National team competitive games. Pulisic will be 29 or 30 by then.
You americans think pulisic is best thing since sliced bread, he is a mediocre player😂
@@JXMGAMING98 Perhaps if you were paying attention, you would notice that we Americans see that Pulisic is the best American player of all time. That’s what we are getting at, not that he is one of the best in the world. That makes the praise from Americans for CP totally reasonable, you goof. Besides playing for Dortmund, Chelsea and AC Milan typically means you’re above mediocre. Pulisic is a step or two above mediocre.
Tell me I didn’t just see Vini Jr, Busquests, Neymar, and Kevin De Bruyne all in one clip
Bro started watching football yesterday:
Who's here after Man city news😂
Good luck boy lets see you in eroupe...
Well there are 30 americans in Europe today....so yes we will see him there
Nice little low quality video! Same annoying song loop too! Keep it hard guys!
Cheers,glad you liked it 😀
For all the flair I’d like so see him demonstrating some simple intelligent use of possession and hold up play. He needs to learn that his opponents knowledge of his abilities alone can draw in defenders and exploit their over-reach as well as freeze his defenders. In other words don’t burn the engines full blast, let the defender burn his and exploit it
Considering his age and who’s he’s playing against in these videos let’s try to not get too carried away just yet
From what I heard he just beat Arsenal, Man U, and Liverpool's academy teams in a tournament and balled out. You'd have to look up how much of that is true but it was on another video about him.
Confirm coming to Man City - Fabrizio Romano
Just debuted tonight
He’s also playing against other 14 year olds, if in two years he could compete at a Euro level competition then ok we got something lol
No he has always played up 2-3 age groups. He now is in mls next pro where the average age of a starting 11 is 20-21.
Welcome to City
We saw this with Freddy Adu and what happened? Don't pressure the kid and put unnecessary expectations on him. Soccer players will hit their "peaks" at different ages.
Freddy Adu lied about his age common knowledge at this point. But yeah he could also be nothing
Welcome to the treble winners🩵
why can't America produce more of these
Because we don't have the coaches. UEFA countries have old pros who coach at the local level that can help a creative 10 like this kid. His Union coach is Curtin, who was a defender, who can do little to improve this kid's technique, vision or intelligence on the ball.
@@r2dad282his cousins Chris Albright. Dad played pro and has a soccer training business that the top players (lots of ecnl) go to to work on technical things. Big brother is on the team with him and is a pretty regular starter. I think his family has enough tools to help him with his technical ability.
Sull gonna be a legend
He looks like it’s impossible for people to take him off the ball
Do they not have good video cameras in the USA or did someone decide one of the biggest football child prodigies is not deserving of fliming with any gear made past the year 1940?
