We were travelling through central Australia a couple of months ago and happened to be in Alice Springs when an AFL match between Melbourne and Fremantle was played there, We are in our.60s and being from a rugby league state we had never been to an AFL match so we decided to go a long and check it out. One of the other couple that we were travelling with was handicapped and needed to sit down, the security refused to let him take his fold up chair into the ground and pointed us in the direction of a grassy hill told us he could sit on the ground there. Everytime we found a place to watch the game people would come and stand in front of us blocking the view. We kept moving but in the end we couldnt see the whole field or the scoreboard so we really had no idea what was going at halftime we just gave up and left. We intend to go to another AFL game but it will only be in a proper stadium with proper facilities that one in Alice was a disaster. Glad that you enjoyed the experience maybe you should go to an NRL match for comprison if the Melbourne Storm happen to be playing at home while you are there.
That sounds like you had a bit of a bad experience. I feel in another setting you may have enjoyed it much more. We had a great time and have since been back for another game!
Slight correction with your rules there, tackling is below the shoulders as you stated but must be above the knees not the waist. I've been to Marvel a few times but the MCG is where it's at, try and get down there for a day for the test match if you're into cricket, if not, wait until the footy starts back up. It might be quiet in comparison, but we also don't condone violence or riots at or after the games either! At least with AFL you won't spend 100 minutes wasting your chanting time for a nil all draw, just saying lol.
Thanks for the correction, still trying to figure it all out 😅 yes we have since gone to a game at MCG and it was a completely different vibe, even if we had to sit in the nose bleed seats 😁
Awesome video again guys…the atmosphere in that stadium, amazing….
It was an amazing experience, so different to your standard English games!
Great vid...loved it... ;)
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a great experience
Hi guys ❤
Hi 😁
The spot behind each goal is usually reserved for each clubs “cheer squad” members. Kind of like the Active Areas in a football game. Go Sainters!
