it says "more HAIR FAILS" and the description says "People attempt to cut or dye their own hair and fail." but i think that is just a template because thats not what this video is. Love your vids and your tips
Shes not wearing her mask properly. She might as well not be wearing it. Cover you NOSE!
The Board of Health should be called on that salon.
In the US you have to have the mask over your nose and mouth at all times. The customer should have had a mask on. Seeing that the video was made six months ago, mask mandate was lifted in a lot of states. Many people still wear masks now(6-20-2022) today in public.
I generally dislike "reaction-videos" because people are so OVER THE TOP and fake in their reactions. You are calm and age-appropriate in your reactions, you seem genuine, love it!
Thank you so much
Yes!! The fake reaction when in reality they saw the video already
@@tabithahuss1417 But still better then other reaction-videos. 😄👍🏾
Age- appropriate . 🤮
I appreciate being able to watch age-appropriate hair content with my young niece and not worry about random curse words and dirty jokes so yes..
My aunt is a hairdresser and used to own a hair salon. She didn't have a big budget to decorate it, but she did a great job and most importantly her salon was always SPOTLESS. I loved spending time there and often helped her clean after customers. Ahh good memories 🥰 Like you said, you don't need a lot of money to make your salon look clean and presentable ❤
I bet she was a WONDERFUL stylist! I too started on a tight budget but you can definitely tell the difference between someone who's passionate about their work or not.
@@UniquelyDesigned Very true! My aunt has retired now, but she still does friends' and family members' hair, because she loves her profession 🥰
And I'm sorry, but I just have to say that you're absolutely gorgeous 😍❤
@@anomalyahblack1515 ❤❤ aweee, Thankyou so much! That's very kind of you 🤗
Cleanliness is more important than anything - she doesnt need fancy anything even the most chic places are very minimalist
It's so true, just because you don't have money doesn't mean things have to look dirty. I love Glitz & Glam but I'm on a budget oh, you would never know looking at my house ❤
It feels to me like this lady might have gotten pushed into a profession that wasn‘t her first choice or, as you say, she has lost her passion in the daily grind. Running a business, apparently by herself, with the added weight of „this is what my mum built and my children rely on“ must be quite hard at times.
That will definitely take the "spark" of loving what you do. It sounds like it's become a way to pay the bills and nothing else. Which isn't good when running a business
Yeah. Though I'm not sure that she has lost the passion, because I'm not sure she had it in the first place. Seems like she just went into the hair dressing because of her mother, just settling, following into her footsteps and 'inheriting', so to speak, her profession and salon, instead of building her own career path.
@@joane24 The guy who made my teeth is retiring at 50. He inherited his Dad's business, never really wanted to make teeth, but was REALLY good at it and loved the people. I'm lucky he made mine so beautifully, he was a very talented artisan. Now he's a farmer!
A lot of these "I go to the WORST rated salon" videos are really mean and damaging to these smaller businesses. I like how this guy was asking her questions to help clear her name and listened to her from person to person. He didn't make wild faces at the camera to be rude or be condescending to her. Very good video. More people should help these low rated business learn and grow rather than throwing them under the bus for views!
Yes! Taj is the perfect person to do these kinds of videos because he's so respectful and seems like he's genuinely trying to help. And most youtubers don't mention the businesses' info or show the person's face, thankfully.
These days when everyone has a camera ---being lazy and nasty really bites asses!! There's no excuse for these nasty salons
Clean is common sense!
This ‘salon’ is disgusting - we can all see that. 🤢
There is absolutely no excuse for a gross salon... Laziness.... And dangerous... If a customer touched something or got an infection from that it's a liability beyond. Nothing like getting high lights and MRSA. Have some pride
I feel bad for her. She seems burnt out. I bet if she took your advice she would feel renewed. A clean space can really do wonders for your mind and soul. Idk. I hope she turns it around and her business grows. Great video !!!💖✌🏻
Agreed. The unclean space and lack of measuring is what really does it for me, but these are things that can easily be fixed.
The lady in the video was known to lock people in her salon until they pay her. The guy is a UA-camr who does videos on worst rated places and go there to see why. He was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but she was doing some crazy things.
Many times, an unclean space shows the state of mind of a person...
@@HeatherLynnAdventures people must pay for the services that they received,
you can't eat the whole stake and say i didn't like it i won't pay,
what is she suppose to do?! work and then let people go?!
read the reviews, if they are bad then don't go there,
if you don't like the services tell them and don't go there anymore!
what do you think a restaurant owner will do if you eat and wanna home without paying?!
simply they won't let you go till you pay,
try to do it in another business and watch what happens!
@@Elle-xf8mw I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I know the business. I was stating what was being said about that stylist especially when I had seen the original video before this was even reviewed on here. I agree that people should pay for a service if they like it. If they didn’t like how the hair turned out, they don’t necessarily have to pay it full price. But they shouldn’t be locked up in a room like a few had said. I would never lock someone in a room till they pay because they didn’t like it. But hopefully all the rumors aren’t true then but she did had a lot of horrible reviews about it.
I think why it's so dirty is because, like you said she lost her passion, and maybe she's burnt out and it's a reflection of her mental and emotional state... Just seeing her and listening to her, she seems tired in a depressed way. I actually feel for her.
She for sure has something bigger going on in her personal life that we can't see. I feel that to my soul, and even with everything going on in my own life, if I lived closer, I would love to help her clean her salon, and just have a girls night, because she really seems like she needs one. I hope everything works out for her💜
This comment is really touching, your immediate impulse to help her and offer companionship is really kind.
I used to be a tattoo artist, and just having easily wipeable surfaces and the right cleaning compounds makes a huge difference. Worked at shops that put so much money into the aesthetics rather than safety, but the best shop I was ever in had the best cleaning schedule/safety standards, but was the smallest space and cheapest rent lol.
When I get work done I end up in places that are simplistic. And you can always smell how sterile a shop is, at least I can.
Jeeeez. Especially with tattoos, yikes. Cleanliness is paramount b/c there’s always a risk for infection. And if they don’t keep the workspace clean, how clean are their needles 😳🤢
Hair Buddha is classy and respectful, but based on various things this hairdresser has said (you can’t please everybody, my haircut was perfect, I finished school in eight months) and the condition of the salon, the reviews weren’t just talk. I get that she has respect for her mom and the business she built, but it sounds like she needs more training (as all professionals do, to keep up with trends and techniques) and put more pride in her work. She’s awfully defensive instead of reflecting on the how and why of her low reputation.
I love how much hair Buddha loves the industry he is in and makes a point to say he doesn’t want to criticize others that do it. Such a kind heart!!! I gotta say tho… this lady really shocked me with how she talked about her customers 😮. As someone who worked in customer services for 17 years… that’s not how you handle unhappy customers lol
If their salon is that unkept I highly doubt they're sanitizing they're tools. I wouldn't be surprised if people left there with a scalp issue
90s boyband is STILL hair goals, don't you ever forget it! :-p
I have been a hairdresser for 32 years and one thing I give all my clients is a 100% guarantee! If for any reason they are not happy and they want the toner adjusted or cut a little shorter then as long as they call me within the first two weeks I will fix the problem
for free
If I'm going in a salon and the staff have bad hair.. I WILL RUNNING OUT WHILE SCREAMING !!
you are a super tolerant person. You can explain what's wrong but you also respect your colleagues and critisize the result in a really friendly manner
"She wants to give food to her children, she's a nice person"
😅 makes me laugh
Obviously something else is going on here if she's content with the condition of her space. 😳🥴 As a Salon Owner/Professional I take pride in my cleanliness and services..... I myself, couldn't imagine walking into a place like that.
Me, too. I couldn't concentrate in that mess
My daughter has her own salon and it's cleaned after every client
She seems to be suffering from depression. Her space is an indicator of that.
I couldn't work with all that mess either.
This was kind of eye-opening for me regarding talking to the hair stylist when unhappy. I’ve had several haircuts that I wasn’t happy with but didn’t speak up and still paid, but you’re right I never went back. I guess now I should’ve said something but I didn’t really know how, and my hair is long and thick and takes a long time to wash, cut, and dry so I felt bad saying anything after all that time and effort!! There was one time the stylist was starting to thin and cut the layers too short when I asked for just long layers and I tried to speak up but she assured me she was just “texturizing”. I looked like the Asian version of “The Rachel” from friends, not in a cute way
😂💇🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Oh no 🙈
My husband and I own a barbershop. We make cleaning a daily task. We limited displays to a minimum, and removed them altogether during the pandemic. We disinfect tools and chairs after every single client, and that includes waiting areas. Because you are right, cleanliness is the cheapest investment you can make in any business.
Speaking as a Mother of a barber, I'm gonna say its about her working for her mother that caused her to lose her desire. My daughter works with her father and he always tries to insist that she do everything his way. She has to argue that things have evolved since the seventies! lol. God love her, that stubborn streak is working in her favor.
She sounds like a very sweet person and of course she loves her family. That goes without saying. Graduating cosmetology school 25 years ago isn't the end of your education. Improvements are made every day. Things and techniques evolve. Continuing education exists in all jobs. Staying current only benefits you and your family. And as you said, cleaning is free and goes a long way towards improving reviews.
I've seen this guy in a few videos before. He has a series called "one star reviews" on the Vice YT channel and he purposefully goes into the worst rated places or uses the worst rated services. He researches them beforehand on websites like Yelp, and checks them out. So in the videos, he plays it cool and asks questions based off of some comments that he may have seen.
Commenting on the boy band comment. I worked as a shampoo guurl for the beginning of my hair career, and the salon i worked in was always doing big hair... like bufont. Well 25 years later I visit the salon now run by the granddaughter. And they still do big hair. So I'm trying to say sometimes salons just fall into a rut. She probably did a great job on this guys hair because sometime back she fell into the salon rut. And I'm sure if she went back and took a refresher course, she would probably find hair now is much different than when she started. Much love and respect. Mamma ~Dee~ 💜😊
If I walked into a salon that filthy I would turn around and walk right out.
My mother owns a salon. Not only is it spotless to keep the clientele safe, but state board would shut her down if it looked like that. The lack of barbercide, the loose hair everywhere, I mean this salon cannot be here in the states. I am kinda glad we have such high standards here.
I truly love how respectful and professional you and your comments are. Thank you for making these videos and sharing propper advise. Greetings from Mexico!😃
Thx for watching
I'm not even sure why she's bothering to wear a mask, it's upside down so the nose part is on her chin and she's not covering her nose anyway. Do these people who wear them like that not realize that the nose and mouth are connected to the same system?
They do. They just don't care. They're more concerned about their comfort.
I mean.. it looks like a soft knit fabric mask anyway so it probably wouldn’t matter if it were over her nose or not. 😬
Yup. Both Respiratory
My pet peeve!! Like it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to wear a mask properly!
The masks that most people use are not effective anyway so it really doesn't matter.
That hair dryer belongs in the museum..i bet its from the days her mom did hair 😊
I’m a dog groomer, so what you’re saying about keeping clients happy is so true. What she says about not being able to please anyone is so true! I have clients that blame me for their negligence (they didn’t brush their dog, and I had to shave off the ‘dreadlocks’ from the poor pup), and they refuse to pay or tell me I’m cruel. I have to use the analogy of not brushing their teeth then blaming the dentist for having to do a root canal. It’s not the dentists prerogative to brush *your* teeth every day, right?
All in all, having a clean salon costs next to nothing. Taking pride in your workspace and home space should be a top priority as it’s a true reflection of your inner self, and it makes you feel great inside when things look good on the outside. Either way, this woman seems so nice and of course Hair Buddha is so kind, respectful, and genuinely doesn’t want to put down his colleagues. Thank you for sharing, especially during the tough time that is the holidays! 🤍🤍🤍
I used to be a dog groomer and I totally get it.
Its true a clean minimalistic salon can go really far, I recently opened a salon studio and didnt have much of a budget for decor because most of my budget went to a full color line . Most of my furnishings came from ikea and discount stores .
Nothing wrong with that! I mostly want a clean salon and the number one, most important factor, be actually good at being a hairstylist!
For what it's worth, I have always thought of Hair Stylists as very intelligent and talented. The amount of theory to learn, not to mention the hands on practical side of the job. Customer service skills also. They work very hard and I have always held them in very high regard.
Indeed
This reminds me of how much I just love Taji. He always goes into his one star review videos with an open mind. I was expecting his tips to be orange but that didn't happen and I love the cool tone! Yes, the gal can use help cleaning (maybe hire a service?) and get her some social media advertising help to get the type of clientele that she wants more of. I notice that in many of Taji's one star reviews (of all different businesses) the customers expect luxury results but aren't willing to pay for them.
That's a good point- "people want luxury results but aren't willing to pay for them" They go to these places and make their jobs harder by causing them to lose potential clients. You know what type of salon you're walking in to- base your reviews on that. Not what you expected to see even after looking at the reviews
That sink and the filthy coffee pot !😷
I wish i found your channel before I committed wars crimes on my hair lol 😆
The midevil washing place comment had me dyinggggg cause that was a perfect way to describe it!!! 👌
You don’t have to be rich or fancy to be clean and neat. Like a restaurant if it isn’t clean I ain’t going. I went to a tiny salon years ago it wasn’t fancy but it was neat and she did a beautiful job.
There is no excuse for being dirty. It reflects on there business. I would walk straight out if a salon was dirty. I agree Hair Buddha, you haven't got to spend a lot to decorate a salon. Have some passion. 8 months is nothing to learn all aspects of 💇 hair. It's years. In UK, both hairdresser and client have to wear a mask.
Why is the woman not wearing her mask the right way? 🙈 Put that nose IN there!!!!
Over here in Germany it takes 3 years of school and practice in the salon to become a hairdresser 🤷🏻♀️
Gross
Her salon was so dirty. I cant imagine how dirty her kitchen was 😬🤢🤮
Hair Budduah❣ I always look forward to seeing you. TY for always making my day. 🌞✌🏼
What's the purpose of wearing a mask if you're going to wear it under your nose?! 🙈
From what I understand, it depends on the business from state to state. But, of course it is encouraged by businesses to wear them.
You are always kind and honest.. it is wonderful to watch.. thank you for your kindness.
Thx for watching
That salon hasn't been cleaned in years, even an outdated salon, if it's at least clean ,would be better accepted.Too bad they don't have a salon makeover TV show to help these businesses.
they used to have one called Tabatha Takes Over, it was very nice and this lady definitely needs help
@@snowmorreuderir8843 Love that show!

Here in Connecticut neither the hairdressers nor the clients have to wear masks-but that’s THIS week😉

First, one 8 month course 25 years ago isn't an educated cosmetician. You have to get continued education. Typically in the U.S. you take at least a course a year. For someone that specialises in something, such as colour, you will need more. Second, for heaven's sake clean your salon. There are many many home salons in the U.S. Some of them are really good, but they have to follow the same cleanliness standards as any other salon.
Love your reaction videos 😊
15:18 Well is WAS based on a photo of one 😂

Also, that little dance you did was adorable, Sir!
Thanks for the friendly reminder that I'm old lol when you said "the salon is like it's stuck in the...(in my mind I finished the sentence with "the 80's")...90's" I keep forgetting that 20 years ago we were in the year 2002 hahahaha love from Spain!!
I couldn't work in a cluttered filthy environment. Great video and suggestions on just cleaning the place up doesn't cost anything.
Loved this one great advice cleanliness is no1 his hair did look good too 😀 thank you
I agree with you it needed a damn good clean
I think its one of the toughest jobs.
She needs to go and do a refresher course.
I do little courses to keep up to date with everything.
As a dog groomer(I know different) but I agree that cleanliness is the most important thing for first impressions. If my shop smelled like wet dogs I would expect a bad review. Also I agree with you about unsatisfied customers. A consultation, is important, realistic expectations are important, if a dog is matted I don't let the customer leave thinking they will have a long haircut. But also I give them the option to cancel their appt and get a second opinion if they don't like what I have to say. And I want you to tell me if the ears are too long or too short. I will always try and fix that. I can't put it back on but it grows back and I can write it down that it was too short to fix it next time. I want to make the customer happy. And I want to know when I mess up.
That salon is so dirty! I can't believe the health department hasn't shut it down. Gross!
I can’t believe how much she’s “blaming” the customers! Not to mention speaking about it to a client!!!!!!!
Your laugh is so contagious! Love your videos! ❤️ Especially when you say “Don’t Do Dat!” and say the word Salon. 🙂
You're the best I love watching your content!!! 😍😍😍🙏
I love hair buddha!!!!!
My first clue? The stylists hair. YIKES.
From the looks of this salon I doubt she is properly sanitizing the combs, scissors, or hair buzzers! As for the mask she is not even wearing it properly ( it should cover her nose) I don’t know why someone would chance going to a salon with such poor reviews, I guess just for purposes of making the video?? With that been said his hair didn’t look too bad it did look like the typical 90’s boy band hairstyle but I guess that’s what you get when using such an outdated technique as the plastic hair cap!! As always you are so kind and informative Hair Buddha . Please keep making these videos I look forward to them all!!
Thx for watching
I would walk out of a salon this gross. How long since the tools were clean and disinfected. The place I go to, is so clean and they are very strict to the point if my Stylist Natasha even drops a comb on the floor. Instantly grabs a clean one and puts the other in her Barbasol disinfectant. BTW I am getting my hair cut and dyed Tuesday and can't wait. I have not gone since COVID started. So I want to explore with my Styleist /Colourist. 🥰

15:45 this tip works in all profession . Now I'm gonna apply this in education field. 😊 thanks you.
People don't realise how much training and science is behind what we do , you can do so much damage if your not trained, and colour is a science to mixing different strengths of bleach for banding , and toning and the proper procedure for perms, you are so professional and never put other hairdressers down and that's hard in the hair and beauty industry thanks for always putting out good and fair content

She may as well not bothered wearing a mask as she wasn't wearing it correctly anyway. It's kind of pointless if you aren't going to bother covering your nose also😂

It's kind of pointless when you don't cover your eyes as well... Everybody is wearing masks and they don't seem to be of any help whatsoever. It's because our eyes are exposed

In America the average hours you have to take to graduate is anywhere from 1000 hours to 1500 hours depending on the state and if it's a private school or vocational.. You can do morning class 9 to 3 and night class 5 to 9 some people like myself chose to take both to graduate with my 1200 hours as soon as possible. But then you have to take a state test to pass .
What do they teach you in those 1200 hours? Here in Germany it takes 2,5 to 3 years to become a hairdresser. You have 1 or 1,5 days at school and the rest of the week at the salon.

90s are coming back. Hair split in the middle, high pony tails like the spice girls, trousers that go all the way to the ground and cover your shoes, plastic tattoo chocker, so many 90s songs on the radio.
