Yeah now that I'm older listening to this, I sense some foreshadowing. When Anna sings "a chance to find true love" then Elsa sings "Don't let them know" because people like to take advantage of people that they know have little experience in relationships.
One of my favourite songs ever to come out of Frozen! Kristen Bell did wonders! 😄 And it's so beautiful watching Anna get excited to finally explore outside her castle! I so love a girl like her! 🥰

Anna sings "I'm getting what I'm dreaming of, A chance to change my lonely world, a chance to find true love" all of which does happen in the film, just not at all in the way Anna meant. Instead the answer is with her sister, who is singing a counterpoint with her. Anna is unique among Disney princesses for many reasons, one of which is she has two "I want" songs- one of which is sad and the other happy. The resolution she wishes for in this one is false, and she in the end gets the resolution she really wanted rom the first- She gets to "build a snowman" with her sister in the end (what shes dreaming of) and in doing so changes her lonely world. And of course she finds true love when she sacrifices herself for her sister. The song is all ironically true if you substitute romance for a relationship with her sister: "Finally they're opening up the gates" the closing of doors is a motif in the movie symbolizing Elsa's closing off from Anna (Love is an Open Door is a perversion of this and can be read in the same way), "But then we laugh and talk all evening, Which is totally bizarre, Nothing like the life I've lead so far" makes it clear her romantic desires are a way of dealing with the fact that she does not have a relationship with Elsa (the life shes led so far); "For the first time in forever there'll be magic, there'll be fun, For the first time in forever I could be noticed by someone" cmon this ones on the nose, magic and fun sounds a whole lot like Anna and Elsa's childhood before the troll scene, noticed by someone is comparatively vague for romance and is also done while performing to a painting (things Anna only talked to because her sister wouldn't) because again subtextually this is about Elsa.

"Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, put on a show Make one wrong move and everyone will know" As a newly diagnosed autistic (and possibly ADHD) girl, I've finally realized why this line hit so hard for me- This basically describes masking your intense emotions to fit in with people in casual situations. And if you don't do that, you end up risking so much (I ended up wrapped up in fights because of overwhelm). I used to mask a lot more when I was little. I try not to do it as much now. The line "be the good girl you always have to be" specifically, reminds me there was a time in which everyone adored me: when my parent's friends would come over when I was 3 or 4 and they would talk to me. I still miss it, and I know I shouldn't because that little girl and I are basically different people now. But it's hard. The entire party scene, and especially the part where Elsa keeps avoiding Anna's questions and ends up hitting the partygoers with ice because she's upset, hit way too close to home as well (referring to the "overwhelm fight" incident above) Especially since she says "I SAID SHUT UP" before she does it and, when I'm overwhelmed, I'm mostly overwhelmed by noise. This entire movie describes having strong emotions in a way no other Disney/Pixar film has for me. Not even Inside Out, although that's closer to the feeling of depression I get when I get used to masking emotions too frequently.

Reminds me of 2014 when we were staying in Pakistan with family for a few months before relocating to Calgary Alberta canada since 2014 and I still live here. This makes me feel nostalgic gives me so much nostalgia! Because I haven’t heard this song in ages!!!! It’s been so long! I feel so nostalgic! Reminds me of 2014 when we were staying in Pakistan with family for a few months before relocating to Calgary Alberta canada since 2014 and I still live here. I used to live in England chesterfield Derbyshire. This song reminds me of my mom feeding my brother when he was a baby and she used to play songs for him on the iPad also when we were new to Calgary!
