1963 was the first year our family went to the Pavilion/Myrtle Beach. I was 9 sister 6. The Putt-Putt was there I believe till 68. (We went every year). The attraction in 64 and 6t was the go carts that was next to the Putt Putt. Arcade across the street. 68 I believe was the first year for the larger Rollercoaster a little further up the road. Many memories, I could go on and on. 1967 may have also been the first year of the space needle. That was fun. Used to be right next to Mother Fletchers. We stayed at the Continental Motor Inn right in that area. Thanks for the video.
Gosh that brings back memories. When I was a kid back in the 80's l loved going to the Pavillion. One thing I remember most was the world's heaviest twins that worked as barkers in front of Ripley's. If you run across any footage of that i would luv to see it.
Awww the memories that was made there. They’re never be another like it. I remember some of the 67 one. Now the 70’s was a blast! The days of the mind scrambler and the rainbow.
I remember enjoying the boat ride that went around in the water. Also a local theme park where I was from had a similar kiddy turnpike ride that had mini Corvair cars that we enjoyed ruding.Great throwback footage on the time travel. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Excellent Video ! The Pavilion should have never been torn down. One thing about Myrtle Beach Landmarks are never considered sacred . Should have been just updated yearly. But never torn down ! Now all you have had for years is an open lot of nothing .
I enjoyed that little trip...just turned 70, so was about the age of one of those little blond boys in the '63 clip. I can almost feel that super-hot asphalt when my foot would slip over the edge of my rubber flip-flop, and smell the cotton-candy and other foods riding the breeze...maybe even the sound of that enchanting German pipe organ if it was having a good day...HaHa. Peace to all, Randy
B&C, owners of the Pavillion begged the city council and Mayor to revitalize the downtrodden area that the Pavillion sat it. Sadly, they were ignored as ALL the city’s focus were on the defunct Sir Force Base properties. After getting ignored a final time, B&C closed down the Pavillion and the property still sits there, as a silent protest to the better years of Downtown.
Man that was cool I was born in 65 so since I'n 63 I wasn't born 67 I was two it's always cool to look back and see what people are doing back in those days another cool video
The Pavilion was the heart of Myrtle Beach, such a wonderful place like no other amusement park. At least they still have the Swamp Fox rollercoaster at Family Kingdom, but the Pavilion was a special place with some very unique rides.
In the late 1960’s, my younger brother(Steve) and I got to go to this pavilion many times to ride the rides. We also went to the rides in the Crescent Beach-Ocean Drive area regularly. I’ll always remember the mechanical monkey band in the glass case inside the O.D. Pavilion. I think it was 10 cents to make them play. I still have color 8mm film of the MB Pavilion rides from 1968 that I may try to upload sometime. Boats, Helicopters, Bumper Cars, and loads of fun in a much simpler time.
Hey guy. Let's see your films! Since you mentioned it, I think one of those tamborine monkeys was also in the MB Pavillion or across the street in the amusement park. There was the large monkey in the center, with several others on each side performing. I loved it too. Holy-Cow, as I just turned 70!

Where do you think the German band organ is? I know it was at the nostalgia theme park for a few years but I have been dying to know where it is now that they have removed it.
Hey Mr. Myrtle! LOL 😂 Love your time machine setup!! I love the old cars on the Kiddie Turn Pike!!! Cool! 🚗 My Mama graduated high school in 67! 🎓 That double ferris wheel is something I've never seen! 🤩🎡🎡 I love my Rock N Roll but not that ride! Noooo way I'd ever ride that! 😳🤢😂😎 Thanks for the trip on the time machine! Have a blessed day!!! 🙏🏻✝️🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸😁
I enjoy these old Myrtle Beach videos. Do you have any of the 1970’s-early 80’s? I was raised and still live in the Charlotte area. That was the time period I was a kid/teenager/young adult and spend so much of my time on Myrtle Beach.
Great video but so sad that this is all gone. My kids were young back in 1999 when we were here on vacation and the Pavilion was great since you only had to pay for what ride each child wanted to go on. They had a log flume and the rollercoaster was a blast!! The place was so clean & safe. We went at night when it was not too hot to get on these rides since we were here in August. Kenney Chesney (country singer) had a great song and part of his video was shot here at the Pavalion and part of the boardwalk. The song is called "Anything But Mine" check it it out you will recognize a few sights......Thanks for these memories 🎢🎡🎠🎪🍭🍦🍿🌭
What about Candy Castle? It was in Myrtle Beach in the late 70s and early 80s. The building looked like a castle, painted in pastels. They had homemade fudge and a taffy pulling machine, lots of salt water taffy and other candies.
I have a vague memory of that as well! You could see those "salt-water" taffy pulling machines around town, but that description you gave sounds right.
Found the guy who this belongs to. He says he has a higher quality copy of this. Here is the convo. www.dropbox.com/s/8cryv98z8jy13do/Photo%20Sep%2021%2C%208%2014%2029%20PM.jpg

I miss old Myrtle Beach
Very cool videos
I loved the Pavilion. Great rides and family time!
I remember the old man with the monkey that would take coins and put them in his pouch and tip his hat . Oh the wonderful days of childhood !
I saw him once
He was there in the early 80s. I remember him.

Do you remember always how green the water was in that boat ride? LOL 😳 My Mama was always afraid I'd fall in!! 🙋🏼♀️
Nice 😀
Nice video
Do you remember the Cork Screw? The last time I rode it was probably 1990
I rode it in 1986 or 1987.
I lived just 4 blocks from here. I was born there in 1958.
Lucky. Can't imagine what summers were like for kids who lived there. Bet it was great.
Great video as always. Can't get enough of the pavilion, really hate it's gone.
Thanks for the information !
😭 sad that this place is gone!
I can't believe the city allowed the old beach-front Pavilion to be demolished.

Yeah same here. I was born in 72. Cool to look back huh? 😎🙋🏼♀️
I remember those trash cans with the lion and hippo heads.
It's terrible that a place like this would close. Never got to check it out! 😔
Been to the Pavilion multiple times as a kid and during the farewell season, once you entered, you wouldn't want to leave!
Never been the same since the Pavilion closed! Sad....

There's a 10 story slide in St. Louis at City Museum. Its worth the trip.

Yes, I gave him credit in the description when I posted the video.
I heard the organ is now at Broadway at The Beach. Do you know if this is true?
I know it used to be but not sure if it still is. I haven’t seen it in a long time.
Audio is very low.
