Aww Shamar lost his way after his mother passed away. She was his caregiver & he was probably being used for his money after others were taken advantage of him. He chose homelessness as a way to keep himself safe but he doesn’t know how to manage his money to be able to get himself off the streets. You walk past them all the time on the streets and many of them are more successful than me and you, they just either have the proper help or haven’t cracked yet to even know how big their problems are. Hell, most homeless people don’t even have addiction issues. It’s 2024 and the economy is terrible right now, homelessness can affect anyone and it does. The real problem is people struggling with mental health issues not really realizing their problems and not having people around them that care enough to help them and when they do, not everyone suffering is open to the help because of denial or just plain not realizing how far they’ve fallen and the people helping them not having the patience to help.

Marcus when you’re disabled and you’re in those programs in school you stay in school way longer than normal students. Most of the disabled children stay in until about 21/22

I think along with his mental disability he may be bipolar or schizophrenic and they are usually really difficult to deal with. He needs therapy and meds.

As a gay black autistic man currently homeless, I feel for Shamar's story. However, although, I just want to tell the uploader, although some special education students graduate HS/get their GED at 17/18 (I did), some districts/schools/depending on their education/cognitive needs, or IEP, may request students to stay in High School/general education longer, (until they're 25 in some rare cases), so that explains the misconception that he "graduated early", as he is technically correct, as he probably was allowed to finish school/his learning goals before his disability assessment ended etc. My only issue is him dealing with being homeless, and his income is being a viral laughing stock on toxic platforms, but as long as he's okay with that, I hope the best for him and his journey. :)
He probably had an iep for his learning disability. A lot of the time they don't graduate like the traditional students. They have programs that keep them in high school longer. For example, work study programs. So yes, he most likely did finish school at 21 or whatever he said. He has a learning disability, so his schooling is different.

@cherylrleigh1912 most schools I know only let you go until 18, unless you have an iep. Thats when they are placed in a transition program up until 21 i believe. Then most likely/ sometimes, after that they go to group homes. I could be wrong though. Also, a lot of people with learning disability will deny it. I work with these students.

I knew of someone who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer for the 3rd time. The disability people didn't approve him right away. So he ended up dying at the age of 27. This was last summer.

He could have graduated at 22. Students with disabilities can stay in high school until their 22nd birthday, so him being 27 makes a lot of sense. Praying he had support and a payee that is handling things for him.

I just did a quick dig for Georgia. Shamar is eligible to become a ward of a state and assigned a guardian. They only need 1 person to petition the probate court for him to have a guardian. . The process is approximately 8 weeks. He needs to be a ward of the state.

Shamar is intelligent and very smart, and graduated school early. Top of his class. People just go through things. And then they will get back on their feet. If I was in Georgia, Shamar sho wouldn't have to waste money on no rooms, I'd actually help get Shamar in taking the step to get a monthly spot, or a efficiency apartment. And once things get better from me getting him into a apartment, first...then I'd help Shamar obtain some kind of steady income coming in.. That's what we ( my husband and I) did, we moved into a rooming house to share, kept doing lawncare service while saving our money up and was in our apartment in the next week or two. Ev3n though we have had huge house that could be restored, it wasn't worth the wait.. Then when tax time came around and I was so excited, because we both worked conflicting schedules and then we got another car. So when anyone is in need of help, that's what we do...we help them or make suggestions for them.
People in Atlanta can be cruel to others whom they feel is different than themselves. Shamar i can tell that Atlanta put him through hell. I was bullied here too and not just verbally but jumped on too! I was smart but spoke properly and they weren't used to that. I was called big nose, black, and other nasty names. As a gay black autistic man currently homeless, I feel for Shamar's story. However, although, I just want to tell the uploader, although some special education students graduate HS/get their GED at 17/18 (I did), some districts/schools/depending on their education/cognitive needs, or IEP, may request students to stay in High School/general education longer, (until they're 25 in some rare cases), so that explains the misconception that he "graduated early", as he is technically correct, as he probably was allowed to finish school/his learning goals before his disability assessment ended etc. My only issue is him dealing with being homeless, and his income is being a viral laughing stock on toxic platforms, but as long as he's okay with that, I hope the best for him and his journey. :)

He probably had an iep for his learning disability. A lot of the time they don't graduate like the traditional students. They have programs that keep them in high school longer. For example, work study programs. So yes, he most likely did finish school at 21 or whatever he said. He has a learning disability, so his schooling is different.

@cherylrleigh1912 most schools I know only let you go until 18, unless you have an iep. Thats when they are placed in a transition program up until 21 i believe. Then most likely/ sometimes, after that they go to group homes. I could be wrong though. Also, a lot of people with learning disability will deny it. I work with these students.

I know someone who was diagnosed with MS and is now in a wheelchair with an autistic child but is denied disability benefits. The system sucks.
I think they’ve made it harder to get in recent years. Shamar been getting a check.
I knew of someone who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer for the 3rd time. The disability people didn't approve him right away. So he ended up dying at the age of 27. This was last summer.
No matter how severe the diagnosis is, the only way to get on SS is to hire an attorney, point blank.

Thanks for making this comment- it is obvious he was in Special Education and when he said he graduated early getting out of high school before 22 years old is early for him. My heart goes out to him and it is apparent he really needs a caregiver that would- treat him right and fair, the caregiver needs to be strong but fair, honestly manage his money, and not take advantage of him- he has a mental illness so its not that he intends to lie but because of his mental illness it impedes him from understanding issues and answring questions.

I just did a quick dig for Georgia. Shamar is eligible to become a ward of a state and assigned a guardian. They only need 1 person to petition the probate court for him to have a guardian. . The process is approximately 8 weeks. He needs to be a ward of the state.

Shamar is intelligent and very smart, and graduated school early. Top of his class. People just go through things. And then they will get back on their feet. If I was in Georgia, Shamar sho wouldn't have to waste money on no rooms, I'd actually help get Shamar in taking the step to get a monthly spot, or a efficiency apartment. And once things get better from me getting him into a apartment, first...then I'd help Shamar obtain some kind of steady income coming in.. That's what we ( my husband and I) did, we moved into a rooming house to share, kept doing lawncare service while saving our money up and was in our apartment in the next week or two. Ev3n though we have had huge house that could be restored, it wasn't worth the wait.. Then when tax time came around and I was so excited, because we both worked conflicting schedules and then we got another car. So when anyone is in need of help, that's what we do...we help them or make suggestions for them.
People in Atlanta can be cruel to others whom they feel is different than themselves. Shamar i can tell that Atlanta put him through hell. I was bullied here too and not just verbally but jumped on too! I was smart but spoke properly and they weren't used to that. I was called big nose, black, and other nasty names. I'm none of that nor will i ever be. I've never gotten over the bullying. I've always been a sweet person, however i distance myself when I know that people wanna try my intelligence level because I'll pop off!
