As a prospect, I thought DC3 was the second coming of Carlos Beltran. I’ll keep rooting for his success, but w/o some realization of that potential this year, this is probably DC3’s final season in STL
DC3 has been nothing but a letdown who has underperformed in every aspect of his game! When he’s at bat he looks overmatched and if he doesn’t take advantage of Edman being hurt they should just move on from him...
A couple of thoughts on Dylan from last year: -After the ankle injury in Boston, why did it take as long as it did for the medical staff to realize he never really fully recovered? And on top of that, it needs surgical repair? This medical staff leaves me scratching my head so often. -If Dylan’s relationship has deteriorated with the Cards, I understand and agree the team has jerked him around a little bit. Promoting TON to be the center fielder over him last year was dumb. BUT, DC has to suck it up and play better when he’s out there and be more durable. He’s done neither of those things, which is what has him in the 4th outfielder dog house. And Sandy, his month long run he’s probably not going to have to wait long for. I see that coming in March/April. Go out and prove it, you may find yourself traded to a better situation or back in the mix as a full time player here
Getting; forced into the profession by a dad vibes on Dylan. Hoping I’m completely off base on this. It’s just my gut feeling. Hoping he can find happiness and success in whatever he does.
Mishandled… imo the guy is an entitled baby… once Bader was traded it was like he wanted CF given to him.. yet he doesn’t hit he’s never healthy and he’s sub par defensively… we don’t know the specifics on the Soto trade but if it didn’t include Walker and Winn and only Carlson was the last piece to whatever else they wanted and they didn’t move him then that’s how he was mishandled… he has about a month to prove his value and worth and so far in spring he has 1 hit and it was a dribbler that second baseman fumbled to get out his glove
That's why they said Tyler O'Neill was there opening day centerfielder with his injury history( that was mishandled for O'Neill). Granted, he has been injured himself too often, but he was third in the rookie of the year. I don't think he is as good as he was touted, but if he played center every day, he is going to be acceptable until Scott is ready. Certainly, his trade value is ruined even though I realize the whole Soto thing was overblown. Now we can get nothing for him until he proves he can be the player he was as a rookie.
Dylan NEEDS to STOP switch-hitting, period. The pop from the right side is still there, and even if his value is perceived as less, what's more important? "Potential" of being a solid switch-hitting Center-Fielder, or more honing of skills from o e side of the plate, where he seems to have the most pop? I would mich rather have a decent hitter from one side of the plate than a roller-coaster from both sides.
I have noticed that right handed hitters don’t have nearly as much trouble with right handed pitching as left handed hitters have with left handed pitching. Hitting right handed all the time shouldn’t be a problem for Carlson. In fact, I believe both Dylan and Tommy Edman would benefit from giving up on switch hitting and just hit right handed.

If you recall, we heard much the same thing about Colby Rasmus that we heard about Dylan Carlson.

If he’s that bad, why would another team want him?
