Hello Mr. Bingley Wheeler. Just picked up a black '24 1050DE. I agree that these machines will make excellent tourers. They are tall beasts and I'm shorter than you are. I'm getting used to it. Had 2 3rd gen DL650's and loved them to bits. I hope I'm as happy with the DE. Excellent review. Thanks.
Thanks for taking me along on your ride and review. Nice bike, bit too tall for me tho. I myself do miss the inline 4's of the 70's and 80's. Nothing sounded better than a 4 into 1 exhaust setup. Take care everyone and ride safe. Cheers
I would like to eventually pair this or the v-strom 800 de with my dr650. It seems to perfectly play the part of a bike that is relaxing and enjoyable.
I’m with you 100% about loving keys and not trusting keyless FOB systems. When I had a Pan America that let me down. My Ultra Classic hasn’t but I bought a second FOB for insurance. I’m glad the 890 Adventure and Husqvarna 501 have good ole keys. The new VStrom would be too tall for me but it seems like a cracker of a bike. 👍
I always find it strange that loyalty to brand is often misplace IMO. To me loyalty comes from value. Great price + Reliability = Value. Seems many people’s maths is High Price + Brand = Status.
No need to put it in a category Weight wise? Price wise? Displacement wise? Output wise? It’s just a great proven platform from Suzuki that keeps getting better and better! Does it suit you as a rider? I think it’s the best package out there as a whole. Better dirt bikes out there? Sure! Faster bikes? Sure Cheaper? Yes Overall is the real question Thanks 🍻🍻
Nice bike good review thanks 🙏🏻 Iv got the 2022 vstrom 1050 xt and love it just put some more nobbly tyres on and it's better on the green lanes people need to know the GS has 19" front and nobody says that cant go off road ATB
Motorcycles are a worldwide market. There are plenty of places on earth where they are taken off road: western USA, Canada/Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Africa, Asia, etc.
New viewer; love your channel and long form detailed bike reviews. As a kind suggestion it would be helpful to explain exactly how the engines feel, through the bars and pegs at common speeds. For example, how does the V-Twin engine compare to a parallel twin when lugging the engine in city traffic? I found a Suzuki SV1000 to be unbearable in town at low speeds compared to an inline 4, due to the chain lash and jolting vibration at very low speeds in town. And also, you could speak at length about the terrible gear ratios! Nearly every motorcycle, except the Hayabusa 2nd and 3rd Generation, have super low gears and turn nearly 4,500 rpms at 60mph (100kmh). The lack of an overdrive 6th (like every car and truck has) is reason for me not to purchase any of the new bikes, as every model is geared comically low, even the GS1250, the Tiger 900, and the Transalp 750. I find all Japanese bikes to be geared for low speed city roads and not for any extended highway cruising. In a bike review, 1st and 6th gear are critical to determining rideability. It would be super awesome if you could compare cruising RPM's in 6th gear, at speed, and talk about 1st gear briefly. I am certain that overdrive will be introduced soon on motorcycles, and when that happens, people will suddenly hate riding their old motorcycle with "close ratio race gearing." Haha.
When the lorry pulled out from the right and the video was edited. I just wondered if there was a bit of “ blue speech” in the air. There would have been if it was me.
Well that wagon was being a bully I think; did you edit out your remarks to the driver? Enjoyed the ride through lovely countryside. Very fair and balanced review, with lots of easy to understand info on the machine. Done my time on large trailies, not for me any more. But, a very, very capable motorcycle to be sure. I liked the yellow as well. Nice work Dave. Ride safe Neil
Another great test TBW this is not my style or preference but being a Suzuki I am sure it's a reliable stead ,although personally not sure how many of these are actually used off road ie trekking through Kazakhstan or somewhere like that and unless I was going to do something like that I wouldn't have one . Also I am short in the leg so these bikes realistically are a no no . I feel when made to fit the shorter rider it just kind of ruins the look of this style of bike . Having said all that as you say the roads are in a state these days so just maybe we should all be moving to this style of bike for our own safety 😉since they ain't gonna be getting better any time soon I fear . Luv watching and following where your are on your travels around and I know not why really but it just tickles me a bit 🤣Good one 👌👍
Thank you much appreciated…..very few of any of the so called adventure bikes go off road they’re used mainly as touring bikes but of course are a lot higher than most tourers
The Vstrom has always been an affordable Swiss Army bike. Looks like this one carries on the family tradition. Top review
Cheers Pal….I’d be very happy to have one…the DE….better than the Norden 👍🏻

hm,. I think the headlight fits the bike very well, great looking bike in my humble opinion.

Yes it’s a tall bike indeed but the view of the road is brilliant 😊

Yes status has a lot to do with it….mainly amongst those who are not true bikers 👍🏻
No need to put it in a category

I think the only bike I ever had with an overdrive gear was my Goldwing GL1800

How well you know me and not least because he had just come through a big sign saying “unsuitable for large goods vehicles”!
Well that wagon was being a bully I think; did you edit out your remarks to the driver?

Thank you Neil..... Yes that lorry had also come through an "unsuitable for large good vehicles" sign!
@@thebingleywheeler tut, tut, naughty!🤪👍

Would definitely go for the 800 v strom over this👍

how tall are you?
6’1”
Rear 17inc obviously
it's far too much of a lump to take off road other than a gentle trail ;;; but -- the colour scheme for once is better than the usual grey/black ..
Yes I love that colour 👍🏻
